@ update: Hollyland adapter was no good for me. Constant low frequency buzzing noise in the background in all recordings, independent of gain setting. Also tested the microphones with another camera but with 3.5mm to 3.5mm and there was no problems, so issue is not with the microphones. 😞 returned the adapter.

@01:28 you're using a USB-C OTG cable. Doesn't that cable include a DtoA converter? The OSMO takes a USB-C digital feed directly from your mic when you plug it in directly. Is the signal chain converting twice when you use the OTG cable? Mic outputs digital, cable converts it to analog, camera converts it back to digital to add to the video? Is there a regular USB-C Splitter that you could use in that case?
@manicmods Жыл бұрын
The TRRS OTG cable has a DtoA converted, but the USB-C cable is digital only and that connection is passed along to the female USB-A port. Hope this heolps. Appreciate ya!

I watched it a few more times while I tried my Rode video micro and Hollylang Lark M1 and got them to work using the the TRS to usb C adapter or a trs to trrs cable coupled to a usb c to female trs cable. I do not have the Go 2, but I'd be stumped if both streams were not saved. Thankyou so much for the video. I am trying to set up a motovlog rig and by far the biggest headache so far has been sound. The only thing I've gotten to work so far is the Ankr adapter with a smart Lav+ from Rode. But even tho the camera sees this TRRS set up it doesn't see it enough to allow for the actual settings for gain and wind noise to be displayed so I haven't actually used it in action. I also bout Saramonic TRS adapter Saramonic Lav omnidirectional TRS mic. The adapter says right on the packaging that its for DJI Osmo Action..but my Action 4 does not even see this set up. I guess when they say Osmo Action ..they literally mean the first gen camera only and not the whole action line? Anyway, I'm interested in the Ankr to Shure MVL lab set up and I have a question. Did that set up not only just see the mic but also allow for the gain setting and other features to be displayed under the external mic symbol?
@manicmods Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I was able to set the gain with all USB and analogue mics. I hope you have success with yours, definitely worth trying the Anker. Keep us posted 🙂
@Kelly-rq4po Жыл бұрын
So I did get everything working. The lack of gain adjustment I was experiencing was my own unfamiliarity with the camera itself. The ANKR TRRS set up actually didn't work well for my particular needs unfortunately. No matter how low I set the gain after about 60mph it would still start cracking and popping. I tried a few other TRS combinations with varied success but what I ultimately settled on was Saramonic SR-C2003 TRS adapter + MOVO MC1 dual male audio cable + Cable Creation female to female coupler + JBL gaming headset mic I stole off a headset I no longer use. The runner up was the same Saramonic adapter + MOVO ACM400 omnidirectional gooseneck mic.

Hi, I just got a DJI Action 4 today! My issue is that I have the Rode Video Go II and I noticed a big difference in audio levels when plugging it into my brand new DJI Action 4 with the DJI USB-C to USB-C charging cable provided versus a Rode SC2 TRS to TRS cable with a third party USB-C adapter to connect to the Action 4. The USB-C to USB-C cable provided in the box has quieter but smoother sounding audio and I had to boost the gain setting on the DJI Action 4 from the default of 6 to like 18 to get it to sound at the same level as when using the Rode SC2 cable with the USB-C adapter at the default gain setting of 6 on the Action 4. Could it be that I need a Rode SC-16 USB-C to USB-C cable because the DJI charging cable is not providing a proper audio signal? I suppose my third party USB-C to 3.5mm audio adapter might be providing too much of a signal too. . . It was a $22 item on Amazon that clearly states that it can be used to plug in mics for audio.

😢@manicmods NO. You are incorrect. The Action 4 usb-c input will accommodate a stereo signal. I have used both usb-c stereo mics and the Boya adapter (trs) with a stereo mic. And, the DJI Mic2 is not a stereo mic, so that mic is irrelevant. I have uploaded a video on my KZbin channel with stereo audio recorded from a usb-c mic.kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZyWYZyve8upqassi=FKD88U0-zodtUmDY Maybe you need to reshoot your video - first figure out what you are doing wrong, and then show what works. I thought i was going INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ahem... thank you. I think my mistake was thinking going from analogue to digital... IN A CABLE, was just like any other adaptor! I now know it's a little more involved than just cris-crossing wires.

My Røde Wireless Go II works perfect with the cable from BOYA BY-K2 (USB-C to USB-C also works, but then about 4s noise sound at the beginning of video, after that period all works very well. So for short recordings I use the BOYA BY-K2, then about 1s noise)

Thank you for this! Curious if you experience this each recording, or just the first 4s of the first recording in your session. Your Boya looks to be same design as the Hollyland, how's the audio stack up?

Were you able to get the 2 mics to record to separate channels?

In short, the DJI Action 3 and 4 are shit to connect external microphones to them.
