DJI Action 5 Pro vs. Insta360 Ace Pro 2 - Which one is better?

Have you noticed that the colors on the Ace Pro 2 are too saturated? It causes serious color bleeding with purple and red lights at night. I think this is an issue that needs to be fixed.

It's wiser to go with the DJI route. DJI's audio solution is better. If you want decent audio when vlogging, you need to get close to the camera, but if you do that, you'll be out of focus. You already look out of focus on the AP2 in your previous videos. Also, Mic 2 is superior for actions like motovlogs and POV mountain biking vlogs. You can hook up lavalier mics without losing the waterproofing aspect of the camera.

Lol… that hideous purple tint from the Ace Pro 2 just gave it all away! 😅 OA5 image just looked way more natural and it is easier to colour grade in post. For the price point, OA5 Adventure Combo compared to AP2 standalone package. If i were to spend more, i might as well just get a budget mirrorless or the OP3 😊

If you want to color grade and color match yes use dji... But for most users these are point and shoot Not mirrorless Not fragile like op3 Waterproof They need nice videos out of it I think ap2 fills better these cases

Great idea. I wrote my preference on paper for each scene. A or B, was very surprised to pick the Osmo Action 5 all but 4 times. Scene 10 was marked as a draw be it showed that trumpet flare so wasn’t fair. Ap2 looks blurry. Is it just my imagination? That trumpet flare may bother me on the osmo though. Do you think Insta would fix that blurry footage in an update and Dji fix the lens flare or is that just the way it is?

I literally liked the AP2 in 8 of the 16 scenes so it is a tie for me for this one. Oddly, I think the OA5 looks more natural in the sky with less details. The AP2 tends to be more saturated and contrasty. Sometimes I like that and sometimes I don't. It might come down to the menu, software and audio quality for me, which is in the AP2's favor. I have mixed feelings about the flip screen after using it this weekend, but I think overall it is a win. I do wish they gave the ability to preview on two screens because when I'm vlogging I often find myself flipping the camera from facing me to facing something else. But, it is so wide, I'm sure I'm in the shot. I made my first impressions video. I just have to finish the edit and upload.

Nobody has still done a video against the pocket 3 and the ace Pro 2 in low light to see which camera is better. I think that if you're going to be doing any vlogging you're going to have the DJI pocket 3 for daytime and good weather and the action 5 Pro for bad weather. Low light mainly because the microphones will connect much better to those cameras than they will the ace Pro too. You can't have two microphones connected Bluetooth to the ace Pro too. Not to mention if you color grade and d-log m you can match the footage with the pocket 3 and the action 5 Pro even if you went with the pocket. 3. And the action four that would be an unbeatable combo compared to the Ace Pro too but still waiting for low light comparison between the pocket. 3 and the ace Pro 2 because I think the pocket 3 is still going to win.

Pocket3 and ap2 are completely different. Why not asking for op3 and Sony a7s3 video? If you want to color grade if you want to match colors then go dji If you want something easy intuitive flawless app and menus then acepro2

This is the combination I’m thinking about running with. Pocket 3 and DJI osmo action 5 pro. I was thinking about the 2 mic setup as well as the weather. Good idea! You’re basically setup for all situations with these 2 cameras. The video quality is very decent!

@Johnwick-07 The biggest problem with the ace Pro 2 is you cannot buy it on Amazon in any country and if you buy anything from their website directly, your return policy is horrible. You can always check that out. When the camera was released it was was not released to Amazon or Best buy or any of the big box stores. I checked out Reddit and they said do not buy an insta360 directly because the only way you can get your money back is if you return it within 15 days and has to be in the box sealed. And my response is how do I know if I like a camera or not if I can't take it out of the box and look at it?

As an action camera, even though it's not because of its small size, the osmo pocket 3 is of login camera, so it's only fair that these two items get compared. It's not unusual to ask this because the ace Pro first version was compared with the osmo pocket. 3. So this is a totally fair request as you're both in the same territory.

I saw a video showing faulty door on Action 5, there was water ingress. Replacement door fixed it. I hope it's not a wide spread issue. I posted it on my community feed. I see some people had issues with action 4 and the first DJI Action too. 🤔 But issues can happen with any device.

Thanks for another great video! I also could'nt decide so I got both cameras! Lol! MY use is to pick up, hit record, and GO. I do not color grade or mess with too many settings. Although i think the ap2 has a touch better video quality, i tend to pick up the osmo a5p due to the battery life lasting wayyyy longer than the ace pro2. I love the internal audio from the ace pro2 and i love the super fast download/upload speeds of the osmo app. You will NOT go wrong with either camera. Thanks again for the review.

I chose the ones I liked the most, and I guessed them all correctly. AP2 has the most realistic and natural colors, the sky in the OA5 is too unnaturally blue, and the shadows and midtones are too bright. Let's wait for a new update for the AP2, and then do the comparison again. Anyway, they’re both amazing action cams!

The ACEPRO2 always has oversaturated colors, the highest contrast, and the heaviest sharpening. If you look at the comparison at 9:45 and 10:14, the colors on the ACEPRO2 are all oversaturated.

Both cameras frankly speaking, are not impressive with their new launch. Agree that OA4 actually produces a better image than the OA5. But it can be easily fixed with future firmware. AP2 will be just stucked with that digital, AI-ish look. Example is the original AP which looked worst at after every software upgrade.

I agree that OA4 is great. But ap2 and oa5 are great cameras too.oa5 needs some tweaking in firmware, ap2 and oa5 have to adjust their auto mode in firmware and that will be fine. Their auto modes are not close to each other's and the whole thing is based on preferences. But they can make the auto much nicer. I dnt see that ai thing affecting in a negative way the footage

For vlogs and to film your face, close-up scenes, the OA5 Pro is better, but to film at a distance, inscriptions etc., the AP2 is better, it is especially visible on the signs and traffic indicators on the side of the road, it is significantly more clearly.

For video quality pocket 3 is best but if you want all rounder I would go with action 5 pro since I ride motorcycle and I want all rounder plus we can buy dji mic 2 to work with action 5 without any issues.

There's no clear winner. But I saw a sponsored night mountain biking video with Ace Pro. It looked massively better than the Hero 13, which looked crappy. Which was no surprise, GoPro looked crappy in such scenario for ages. But I don't know how it will be for my set up, but I think it would do well, if that video was truthful. But I did not see it compared to the DJI, but Ii also saw that in a different video by different person and it too beat the Hero 13. But I've not seen these two compared in such scenario. But what I know is both beat Hero 13, and Hero 13 is still bad, maybe slightly better than my Hero 7.

Both look great for action cameras, but the AP2 performs better when the sun is shining bright, giving the clouds more shape and not over exposing. The OA5P is a great bang for the buck, but the Ace Pro 2 is a better camera. Both are better than the go pro hero 13 black, though.

These are branded as action cams but more than 90% of users use them as daily cameras for vlogs family and stuff....pocket 3 can't be used in hars sun for long time, in humid weather, on cars, op3 is great for vlogs when all conditions are good. These can be used anywhere in any weather

crap.... looks like DJI is slightly better for the use I mostly do, indoor studio or music video's. But, another 'environment', next to my already Insta Ace Pro, GoPro10 and InstaR 1'' (which, is nice, but the battery sucks, and... is discontinued, so)... PS how is the 'overheating'? My experience is that 'older' GoPro's will overheat within 15 minutes (in a warm studio), haven't had that with the Ace Pro yet.... DJI has a 'beavier' battery, so... is that heating up more?

@@photorabz my settings for running in lowlight: Auto ex: 1/200,, ISO100/12800 Sport Stab Normal 10bit I run in a street w/ solar white led streetlight posts.. it’s not super bright at all. Yes i got rid of the jitters but the fast flickers just make the footage almost unusable!😮‍💨 I’ve tried my other presets but it’s just the same! But when the scene got a little brighter, the flickering goes off!

So I have been using my Ace Pro 2, the biggest problem I and other people have noticed is that at night shooting, there would be a large halo around the light source; the action 5 pro is having light pillar and Ace pro 2 instead has halo, I don't know, it is actually kinda annoying and I am not sure if that can be fixed by firmware. The second thing is the colour thing, It is more of a preference thing but I really want it to be more natural, I wonder if insta360 can give us a more natural colour profile.

ace pro 2 looks bit better, specially low light and dinamic range EVEN when is not 10 bit color. Also colors are more natural. The OA5 always looks like it has a filter or something

Difícil de escoger entre las dos cámaras, las dos tienen lo suyo, pero en mi parecer yo quiero una camara que me pueda solucionar lo complicado de las ediciones, pues en realidad, no quiero perder demasiado tiempo en estar editando, pues mis videos no serán para, National Geographic, ni para Imac teatros, ni para la Nasa, simplemente son, para grabar ocasiones especiales en la vida diaria, de nuestro diario vivir, en verdad como hubiéramos querido tener esta tecnología en los años 70's y 80', hubiera sido maravilloso, pero en fin, resulta que ahora todos queremos lo mejor, como dicen, Bueno, Bonito, y Varato, JAJAJA. Y con filtros pa que naiden nos conozca, jajaja.

@@photorabz Yeah. I figured that in the end of the video. In first, I taugth "how they are simmilar. Once it seems that DJI is A, and then is a B" :D All in all, they have their own strenghts and weaknesses. I bought DJI. Main complaint on DJI is flatness (lack of contrast in many casses), and overuse of HDR effect in normal color mode.

this is such a great comparison!! i liked the footage of the AP2 more most of the time but in some clips the OA5 looked better, i think i'll lean more towards the AP2 because of this. thank you for making this video!

I have seen so many videos that I guessed Cam A is Insta and Cam B DJi. I don’t like how it looks the footage from the DJi on the sky. Insta performs much better and looks beautiful on the clouds. Today I was talking with Insta support. They have so many orders that I have to be patient and wait for my camera 😊 greetings

Agree. I can spot the DJI clouds easily and don't like the look. They take puffy white clouds and change them to not look real.
