I just got my 3S today and this is one of my favorite upgrades. RTH was already pretty accurate on the Air 3 but the 3S is on another level. Every time I've brought it back home it lands in almost the *exact* position it took off from. Well done DJI.

Well done. Yes advanced RTH was never able to pull this type of mapping off previously. It could rise out of a canopy to start home, but not fly through or around obstacles on the way down.

@DarkStoneCastleАй бұрын
That is impressive, but even more impressive is what I saw on another video where the Air 3S took off with no GPS satellites connected and the drone was able to return home on it's own with this new technology. That's the only video I've seen of somebody showcasing that so far. Blew me away, though! Sometimes in remote locations of in the Appalachians, I don't want to sit around waiting for satellites to connect. But I'm still confused, what happens if the satellites do connect while flying, does it automatically reset the home point? I don't know why more people don't mention this in their reviews. This is by far the most superior new feature to me.
@AirPhotographyАй бұрын
That is a good question. I might do some testing with. The problem is it connects to satellite so quickly where I am. Or maybe try a location or under some tree canopy takeoff before it has a home point and see what happens

Now I'd be interested to know if the auto-return to home sensing picks up overhead power lines. Where I fly very often, my #1 concern is not trees. It's power wires.

Apparently, the obstacle avoidance can pick up smaller obstacles now, but they would still make me quite nervous

Some random guy on chinese video platform showcased a RTH from sky to a twisty underground basement. It was filmed just next to DJI HQ though, wanna try that out?
@Stefan_BoerjessonАй бұрын
Impressive but.... Always think about the landing before taking off. Suppose You a take off, from the hand, standing in a field of grass, 2 feet high.... Either hand catch the drone or manually direct it to a suitable landing spot nearby.
@Diantane6 күн бұрын
Have the same problem with RTH. Mini 4 Pro tries to land on top of my hundreds of trees. Now if only the Air 3s can find its way to my home through US Customs (been there three weeks already).
@farleyfontenot22042 күн бұрын
If I were in a moving boat, can the Air 3S return to Controller, vs returning to home?
@SeriousSchittАй бұрын
DC Rainmaker’s 3s was crashing into trees and all sorts, it wasn’t avoiding them at all. Whats to stop it picking up on a previous path and returning to that, or does it create a new path to follow each time?
@AirPhotographyАй бұрын
I do believe it’s always calculating where the home point is and where it has been and has mapped. Upon a return to home, it will use all that data to figure out the best route.
@markburrows-z5gАй бұрын
rainmakers video was nothing to do with rth it was all to do with tracking at pace and its capability of avoidance u need help schitt in your comprehension of what people present for your information

@GaryV-p3hАй бұрын
Would be nice if they could get it to return to controler so you could move around & it would come to your new position.
@AirPhotographyАй бұрын
I do believe that is coming at some point soon
@Stefan_BoerjessonАй бұрын
Some drone models allow You to change the home point to the position of the controller. The Mavic 3 pro allows it, and likely some more models.
@eliyamil117Ай бұрын
That's so nice! I want to order this drone but I've heard from people having difficulties getting them due to unit being hold at customs and not releasing them to their new owners. Do You think it's safe to order them here in USA?

Yeah, I’m not sure what’s going on there. I did read something but I know what people are getting them. I think it’s fine. I’m sure they’ll get it sorted soon.

Can the mini 4 pro or the Air 3 land like this?

They have similar, returned to home, but not as advanced they can only land in clear open areas
@nitta9892Ай бұрын
it would be nice if they can implement it for air 3 as well, is it possible? like on a firmware update. just wondering
@AirPhotographyАй бұрын
Very interesting if they will bring it. Not sure if it’s hardware or software based I guess we’ll know in time if they bring that feature over to other drones.

Do you have any suggestions on how to fix the glare on the remote. When out in sunlight it’s hard to see on the remote because of glare?

Yeah, that can be a problem. That’s why I usually stand in the shade or there are sun hoods you can purchase on Amazon that do help a bit.

Super dumb question: if you move the pad, does it return to the pad? Or is it approximating the original pad position
@AirPhotography22 күн бұрын
It would return to the approximate pad location
@PegassiLampadatiАй бұрын
What would happen if you flew around it in the opposite direction first (under the trees) and then back this way to go above the trees. Would the Air 3s remember the entire path or just the first bit when it first took off?
@AirPhotographyАй бұрын
Yes, indeed, and depending where the drone was located upon a return to home, it would come back with the most efficient route. It could come in either end of that tree tunnel. In fact last week when I was testing, I had that exact scenario at that same spot. It came in from the other end and flew the entire length. Unfortunately, I wasn’t recording at the time.
@PegassiLampadatiАй бұрын
@@AirPhotography That's awesome, would be good to include that in your video.

What’s different this one to the DJI MINI 4 pro ?

Mini 4 can do a return to home and it’s very accurate. But it can only come home to an open area. It wouldn’t be able to traverse through situations like this.

Wow. Once upon a time, God created Intelligent Return to Home which has now morphed into Sixth-Sense Return To Home, available for the first time with the new 2024 DJI Air 3S.
