The most fun you have ever had flying a drone. That is quite an endorsement, Ian. Goggles = Vertigo for me. Many thanks Ian for your presentation. I really value your opinion as you are in the UK and are flying with the CE power levels, so we get a true perspective of what we can expect in terms of range taking into account obstructions etc. watching reviews from the US guys, whilst interesting, is hardly relevant in the UK or EU. When you get a chance it would be good if you could do a comparison between the Avata 1 and the 2 over the same route to show that advantage of new transmission system over the previous one.

Thanks Ian. I was put off the Avata 1 largely due to your review and the issue of when it went behind a small tree the signal broke up. The initial indications from UK/EU flyers are the Avata 2 is much better, which if true will persuade me to buy one. Regards John.

When I see FPV, I usually click on by. However, you always produce excellent videos, and you made a compelling case for the Avata 2. I can see how it has a huge fun factor. Personally, I am focused on the flying camera aspect of drones and refining my photography and video skills. I am interested in pairing the goggles with the Mini 4 Pro and specifically the adjustments available for those of us that wear glasses. The Drone Mask never worked for me, I experienced a lot of eye strain trying to focus on the different areas of the screen. Having goggles that work for me, in the sunny skies of TX would be a huge benefit. Thanks, Ian!
@IaninLondon8 ай бұрын
Well, the Goggles 2 definitely work with the Mini 4 Pro but you also have to get used to the Motion Controller as you can't use the standard remote with the goggles 2. When I flew in Arizona, tree shade was my friend :)

Hi, Ian. I am really enjoying the new Avata 2 and the changes they did to turtle mode you discuss at the end of your video. I did find out however real quick if the grass is think and a good 2" high that drone will not be going anywhere if it crashes there. My only complaint regarding the new drone isn't the drone itself, but the new Goggles 3. I do hope soon they offer an option for some small cushion instead of that thin rubber that is around your face to make it not only more comfortable because it will help to distribute the pressure a little bit and not leave it all on the forehead which I know I cannot be the only that isn't a total fan of that. Maybe, offer a little more clearance between the eyes and the lens of the user so our eyes are not smeared up against the lens and we don't have to keep adjusting everything from time to time. I do notice I get some of the black rubber showing up on one of the sides of my eyes when wearing the Goggles 3. The features are great and for someone that doesn't posses 20/20 vision being able to see a digital display is a nice touch. The Avata 2 is such a huge upgrade to me compared to the OG Avata. Besides batteries ejecting I'd get that warning every so often battery needs to be updated and I need to drain the battery below 10%. The Avata 2 does fly much better in windy conditions especially in manual mode and the sleek design is a nice touch! Thank you for the video my friend!
@IaninLondon8 ай бұрын
Yeah, tutrle mode is good but has its limitations.... As for the goggles 3, yes, this is quite subjective and down to personal comfort; I found adjusting the height of the strap on the back of my head, along with adjusting the turn grip tightener eventually got me sorted

Great informative video as ever. My pet niggle is framerate. I tried my monitor on 50, 60 and even 24Hz to try and make your flying footage smooth but it still had the jerky/stuttery motion. My best guess is you videoed at 60Hz on the drone but edited/produced/exported your video at 25Hz (or some other mis-matched combination). I'd like to see some of your footage in its native framerate. I guess I'm in the minority for noticing this kind of thing as I watch KZbin on a 50" TV and most people are not going to notice much watching on a phone screen . Thanks again.

Hi Ian, i have a couple of questions/comments i hope either you or anyone else can help, first im a glasses wearer, what are they like with specs on, more uncomfortable maybe? And the other thing I'd like to mention is that i own 2 mavics, and as far as i can remember, you can lock the gimball (electronically) and that gives the same aerial views, but i, like you, are flying on eggshells scared that a may crash either of my expensive drones, so this avata is certainly worth considering. Thanks for another great vid 👍
@IaninLondon8 ай бұрын
You can adjust the focus of each lens to allow for glasses to be taken off. Not much space to wear glasses. And setting the Mavic to FPV mode doesn't give the same smooth true fpv experience that you get with a real fob drone, and yeah, you wouldn't want to crash the Mavic...

Correction on the sensor. The avata 2 has the same sensor size as the mini4 pro and air 3 however it is not the same stacked sensor technology . The sensor itself is the same as the action 4 camera which means you don’t have to strap an action cam to the fpv drones anymore. I hope this makes sense as the image quality will never compare to mini 4 pro or air 3 drones.

It was the goggles tat was the big thing for me as the leaked images showed what we now know to be actual pass through…. However upon seeing the promotional video drop I immediately purchased it and after flying it for first time, i knew this was such a great decision…. It’s easier to fly, the design changes brilliant, and the easy acro mode, genius for being able to quickly take some ‘arty’ shots with a simple push of a button… the original I’m passing down to my son, as we have an idea for a mini movie along with the other non fav drones i have… Steven Spielberg better watch his ass 😂😂
