Impressed with how DJI addressed most of the shortcomings of the first Avata in their very next increment. Apple on the other hand takes ages and is notorious for minor incremental releases. So glad I held back on the Avata - 1.

Very nice my friend. Thank you for the informative review. Very helpful.... As well here's a little info many don't know regarding drones. Drones fly level & straight-out, they stay at height regardless of distance flown. There's no angle changes had. There's no rise, no dip, drop or anything else. Drones fly & stay at starting height regardless distance flown. If you force the drone to adjust & correct for claimed globe curvature, it crashes. Enjoy this information. God Bless & Be Well my friend & friends.

Just got the Avata 2 yesterday! Been a sUAS pilot for about 4 years, P4P, Mavic, Air 2, but never flown an FPV. Super excited to get into this Cinewoop Avata 2. Gonna plan on learning to pilot indoors confidently so I can use my Part 107 and make video tours for realtors etc.

Russ. Thanks man! I always appreciate your thoughts. I passed on the original DJI FPV thinking it was too heavy and cumbersome. I also passed on the original DJI Avata. This time, the Avata 2 seems much more refined, so I think it's time to enjoy the thrill of FPV. Looking forward to it. Thanks again Russ.

Agreed. Get the 3 battery fly more bundle. I'm returning my single battery. Just not enough to enjoy it. Specially if you drive to remote locations just to fly for 15 minutes. Make is worthwhile and have the freedom of 45 minutes fly time.

I am probably going to go FPV again with this drone. I used to build my own racers years ago but that become a lot of work (due to multiple impacts with stationary objects). Thanks for all the info you provide, your mini4 pro vids convinced me to buy it and I've enjoyed every flight. Since these goggles work with mini 4 pro it's like getting 2 for one.

Thanks for the great review and giving us the pricing right up front. The first question in buying is, "Can I afford this?" As for the Avata 2, I don't see it as adding enough of the right features for me to move up from my Avata 1 (which I use for documentary footage, not for fun). Maybe I missed it but am wondering if the camera will aim straight down without seeing itself. Thanks again, Russ!

Awesome review - I think the Avata 2 will be my first FPV drone. Just getting into the drone scene after spending most of my life involved in aviation (Private Pilot SEL, Professional A&P Aircraft Maintenance Technician). Having gotten a Mini3 fly more package as a birthday gift I’ve gotten totally hooked and considering a Part 107. Very impressed with the Mini3; my only concern is the fact that I only used the drone three or four times and the controller already died and had to be sent in for repair which takes 4+ weeks here in Germany. This doesn’t inspire much confidence in DJI products and I’m hoping it was just a very unlucky fluke. Stuck watching videos instead of making my own, I’ve watched dozens of FPV drone videos and I’m convinced the Avata2 will be an excellent choice for a first FPV drone.

Thank you Russ for your in depth analysis. I've been watching your videos for years now and they are always informative and enjoyable. I've got a Mavic 1 which I fly as often as I can and also the first Gen DJI FPV. Both are terrific but the FPV is so much fun using the Motion Controller. I just wish the MC was just a bit smaller to grip. It's not hard to hold but doesn't quite feel perfect in my clutch. Anyway, keep up the great work and I look forward to more content from you.

Coming from FPV and "tiny woop" drones hobbit, I kind of left all that because it was too much money to spend on the remote + batteries + goggles + props...etc But this new version of FPV drone from DJI, with that attracting price and HQ video streaming in the goggles as well, is indeed very tempting. Thanks for the review video !

Watched about a dozen reviews and hearing yours I may now go ahead and try it! Haven’t heard if I’m totally right, but I see in the specs that the goggles AND motion controller are also compatible with the Mini 4 Pro! Whoa, that just made it tougher to say no. Because I was wanting to try the Mini 4 Pro in FPV mode FIRST but this just may be a mixed blessing and cost less than the separate paths! I just wish I could fly without having to have a separate observer…Thanks!

I have 4 pro and maybe just the goggles but I like the pass through mode which is why I recorded the goggles when I got them for the 4 pro. Although I bought oled sunglasses for them because I liked seeing my surroundings but this might beat it now. So. Idk hope yo win your refresh kit.

I wish the prop guards weren’t integrated to the body; I wonder how repairs are going to be. I’m amazed at how strong Avata 1 body is, I kinda wish they made the plastic on the Mavic(s) as hard as they do on the Avata.

How does the DJI fly app work with the avatar 2? Do flight logs get stored in the flight data center?

Looks great, was seriously considering one of these . . . until I saw the controller! As a very left handed person I don't think I will be able to use this. It looks a little like power tools with the "lock" button on the grip which is very frustrating to use! Hope they consider the other 25% of us some day.

The only good use for passthrough is just to quickly check yoir surrounding for anyone creeping up on you or animals. Also... check your phone and send texts without taking off the goggles. Think if we get a wider fov... then we wonder be able to use for phone reading? But yeah... it is narrow. I would like it at maybe 35mm instead of the 55mm its in
