DJI Avata 2 - Months Later Honest Review

For the range restrictions in CE, the solution is simple. Create an empty text file with any text editor, I used Jota+ on my android phone, and save it with the filename "ham_cfg_support" without a file extension. Place this file in the root directory of the microSD card in the Goggles3 after formatting the card in the goggles itself. Before flight, you must first startbthe goggles then the drone. Now you are in FCC mode, the signal strength is boosted, around 5-8 times, and speed restriction is solved. You lose the 5.2Ghz band though, which is a minor nuissance. As long as the ham file is in the root directory of the sd card in the goggles, and start the goggles first, you'll always be in FCC mode. If you want to fly in CE mode, just start the drone first. I'm amazed with this hack, and I think the Avata2 would be worthless if I have not learned the hack (the master is Mads Tech, kudos to him!..). Wish this helps.

Does it still work aftet the update? I just saw a bunch of people complaining that the Ham solution is now gone.

@@chrissmoki8232 , yeah, it works just as good after the update. Additionally you can now select manually yhe channels and frequencies if you wish. I checked it yesterday around my summer house where I know where the weak signal spots are, and it was marvellous, probably better than with the former firmware.

Thanks for the review. How does a drone like this compare to dji mini pro cameras? Looking to see which drone would work best for capture footage to upload into luma ai to create interactive 3d scenes in unreal. Cheers...

Can you use the googles and a remote with screen at the same time? I mean to be able to see what drone see in the remote screen and also in the glasses?

Everything is good about it except one thing ? It is very fragile and not a crash proof cannot repair yourself DIY. Got to send it back to Dji care refresh and that is very expensive Hobby 💵💵😅 by the way if you crashed Direct say goodbye to your drone😢
