B-7000 glue is what i have used with similar fixes. It also works very well in connectors where the factory has used some sort of silicone to secure the connector.

Glue is everyone’s go to for so many repairs. I don’t use glue for anything I repair pretty much. I try to keep everything clean, simple and easier to remove should you need to in the future. DJI does use a thick no run glue that is applied and the lens is attached after a partial dry time when it’s still tacky. I try to think of everyone’s skill sets and level of patience when doing tutorials. More would botch a glue job over this adhesive. 👍🏻

You think t-7000 glue would be a bad idea if used the tiniest bit even on the side that’s far from the camera and let it get tacky first. That’s what I ordered hoping it works. My lens popped out and it’s in perfect condition but I popped it in not thinking about it being glued first I don’t dare try pop it out so ima run it like such I suppose until it falls out and I have a replacement Lens I’ll try to every so slightly stick in.

I personally wouldn’t use any type of glue on a lens. There’s a reason they don’t use such glues. Mine has been perfect since this repair. 👍🏻

great video mate. A question if you would know please. Did your camer only focus in close up and was blurry in any distance past 0.5m without the lens? Just crashed mine and its what it does. Just wondering if it will be ok once I replace the lens :( Not too happy with myself at the moment. Thanks for any help.

No it didn’t make things blurry. Sounds like you’re camera lens was affected as well.

Use light heat from a hairdryer to loosen the stick and pry it of with a fine tool like a craft knife/x-acto blade.

@@QCGUY I just tried to heaten it up with a heat gun. I used 100° Celsius but the glass sticks at the gimbal like before. I prefer to take off the glass in one part, but it doesn't look like its possible...and i also dont want to damage anything of the camera with temperatures above that level.

@@schwarzerwolf5453 I’ve helped others and some are able to remove it intact but a few couldn’t so unfortunately you just have to pry hard even that means breaking it. Try something wider to increase the prying footprint maybe.

an eagle attacked my Mini 2 and it crashed from 150 feet.. the lens cover was missing and i could not find it.. after that i noticed that the output from the camera was blurry.. it was focusing only on close objects, while objects faraway were out of focus.. which is quite the opposite of the default focus rangeof the Mini 2 camera which is Focus range: 1 m to ∞.. so my question is does the lens cover have any impact on the focusing? or is this just damage to the camera because of the crash?

I’ve heard from others that had out of focus without it so yes it’s very possible and very easy to confirm if you buy a new one to replace it and see. 👍🏻

You may have a increase in flares but I suppose it will be okay if you want to risk leaving your lens unprotected.

When your drone lost the lens glass, did it knock the camera focus out? On my Mini 2, the image is no longer in focus when I fly. Only anything about 2ft from the camera is in focus, and the glass is missing so I'm wondering if it's related. I tried a hardware refresh, and it's up to date but no luck here.

The glass could be part of it but I wouldn’t think it would effect it that drastically. I didn’t fly mine without it so I don’t recall if mine was out of focus.

It took a hard landing it seems. Scuff marks on the bottom legs where it lands, and the camera housing has some gouges/scratches.

Warm air from a hair dryer to loosen the glue tape and a very thin pry bar tool like the ones used for cell phone or small electronics repair.

no way would i trust that tape.. super glue gel, just a tiny dab and would hold that great....

Well if you haven’t used it you aren’t in the know. It’s been flying fairly regularly since and in high humidity as well so guess what? It works brilliantly from someone who did trust it and knows. Any glue can go wrong very easily and sucks if you break the glass in the future. I repair drones for many and this has now been used a few times by me and also others that followed the video.

@@philldownes8685 oh yes, I’m sure you have used this tape many times in a application example much like this…lol I’m sorry superglue of any kind is a horrible suggestion on a small glass lens like this. It’s fumes alone attach to dust or fingerprints if one isn’t careful and any moisture whatsoever will cause a white haze on the lens. So super glue gel is really the best way for me to show others? No it’s a terrible idea to suggest to everyone that comes across a video looking for professional smart help.

Yes glue is a perfect alternative for those who can’t do things correctly. lmao 🙄 I’m glad they don’t manufacture these with glue or my job would be hard when repairing drones for my customers. I love the cant fix shit so glued it types that think that’s a smarter alternative. lmao 🙄
