personally i would buy one of the ready made ones. Everyone i know who has tried to build their own has come across some sort of problem. @@AndyRCchannel thanks for the response. Not sure if we understood each other though. I'm referring to a proper 5" quad not a 3" with gopro. Curious as to what the difference would have been if you had boosted down rather than up. Crazy either way
@AndyRCchannel4 жыл бұрын
you get more speed with a slight incline because the more the quad tilts forward the more the blades start acting as a brake. think about putting your hand out of a car window when its moving. if you had less fingers there would be less resistance against it.
@offgridas4 жыл бұрын
@@AndyRCchannel I meant same angle just from up high towards the ground. I mean my quad definitely "seems" faster that way. But haven't got any way to really tell.
@offgridas4 жыл бұрын
Also I don't think that would be the case. The body would definitely work that way, but the props are literally what's pulling it through the air, they are creating more thrust than there is resistance. idk, I'm no expert. Would be interested to see some wind tunnel testing.
@AndyRCchannel4 жыл бұрын
@@offgridas how would you go from high towards the ground at the same angle other than chopping the throttle? or are you talking about flipping the model upside down giving full throttle and add gravity to the equation? because first of all i wouldnt count that as fair. If i threw a mavic from the empire state building it would go pretty fast, and there would be no way to measure the speed via radar. It would be too small. flying at lower altitudes seems faster because you are lower down. does a fighter jet look faster doing 600mph at 20 thousand feet or 200 feet? Iv. Probably done over 1000 speed runs with all kinds of equipment and the quad always goes faster on an incline. simple aerodynamics. does the flap on an plane make it go slower when its down or when its flat? Well at a certain angle a prop creates as much drag as it can thrust and goes no faster. So have less props and dont let the prop become a flap. This is the same reason the fastest helicopter in the world can only do around 200mph

Hey Andy, have you noticed stuttering in the DJI Air Unit when doing hard punch outs? I've noticed it a few times and was wondering if that's because I'm running it off of a regulator on the board than from the LiPo directly (4S ofcourse)? What do you recommend? FWIW, I'm running the Pyro F4 board which has VBAT on the board (which is what I'm running the Air Unit off of)
@AndyRCchannel4 жыл бұрын
do you have a fast computer? punch outs require higher processing from your graphics card or processor as theres more things going on. best thing to do is upload the footage to youtube and then watch on your phone. If it still stutters it could be a bad SD card. they have to be really new and expensive ones. Even then the unit cooks them after a while and they go bad. hence being a bigger fan of the vista
@propwashfpv70634 жыл бұрын
@@AndyRCchannel oh no I didn't mean to say I see this all the time. I have only noticed a moment of stutter and higher latency when doing hard throttle changes. Wondering if its due to battery sag. Were you suggesting it's due to a slow SD card?

Hey so not sure how impressive this is but I built a 4s quad with the full dji air unit and put a m8 tbs gps on it and I got it to peak at 110mph. This is a freestyle rig as well
@AndyRCchannel4 жыл бұрын
GPS speeds on quads not that accurate from my finding. Too much delay so never gets the top speed and calibration needed hence using the radar. The frsky plugin gps said a model was going nearly 200 mph and a betaflight gps said the same quad was doing 90 mph. Radar said 125nph and when you work out the distance the radar was correct. Can also compare radar to the speed of a car to know it's right. Also have three radar guns of different makes and they consistantly say the same speeds. Could never say that for gps. This is why the police still use radar :-) most freestyle models make it to about 75mph to 80. IV seen so many of these things I can usually call a speed from looking at footage if you have any? Someone sent me footage the other day claiming 133 mph and it wasn't even hitting 60mph visually.

Not to be mean but how do youtubers that have edited thousands of videos not know how to smooth audio. Like , i'm pretty sure there is a button for it these days to level out your audio so you don't blow the shit out of people's ears.
@AndyRCchannel2 жыл бұрын
There is a button. It's called the volume button on your phone or knob on speakers. Volume smoothing as you call it or single or multiband compressors and stereo or mono limiters were used in this video. But they can only do so much. And example of this is where you are watching an action movie at home and it's all nice and quiet when people are speaking ... And it makes the house shake in action scenes. You might want to have a think why a KZbinr with a budget of 0 and a multi million pound movie production run into the same issue.
