Our club would like to record private recreational club pickleball matches with a drone autonomously. Do you recommend using the DJI NEO or flip? If so, how would you set up the drone?

Flip should be the way to go since you will get more flight time with each battery! Spotlight can be a good starting point or just bring it up in the air to look at the whole court without tracking anyone (spotlight will track someone)

I already have mini 4 pro and hover x1 and I am interested in flying without controller. so you suggest DJI flip or hover air pro max?

I’d get the Flip, will get you similar results as your Mini 4 Pro so color grading/ regular videos will match instantly.

Thank you Otto your Channel and the Drones Creative channel are the only two I really trust to give an honest review. Although I think your review is much kinder, I think that’s because that’s in your nature. The flip has more negatives than positives in my opinion so I will not be purchasing this drone nor will I buy the neo. I have six DJI drones so I have basically all the features you could want in a drone, unfortunately you have to buy most of DJI line up to get that.

Hey Kevin thank you so much for your feedback and sharing your perspective. I haven’t seen other reviews yet but I’ve heard that people are having mixed feelings about it. I think in the end it serves its purpose, I’d prefer to see a Mini 5 Pro at this point with new features but you are absolutely right about not wanting to buy this drone if you already own a few ones. I don’t even think this would replace my Mini 4 Pro to be honest as it lacks some things that I like. 👍

All I wanted wass: 250g, A.I. settings and compatible with N3 Goggles. Just need the drone by itself to work with my Neo equipment.

@@OttoJulian_ I would guess, if it works with the N3 Controller, it will with the goggles soon. If they sell the Flip separately, it should not cost a lot more than the stand alone Neo. I am hoping for a NeoII. The design seems sturdier than the Flip. The Flip propeller arms don't look that sturdy. I saw one reviewer getting the Flip stuck (follow mode) in a tree through small limbs and the prop guards. He had to turn on the controller (it was in A.I. mode) to back it up and get it free.

@@togeika yeah DJI sometimes add more features/compatible controllers to their current drones. It would be interesting. I feel that the arms are quite sturdy, mine had a few accidents and still going, but yeah, bigger propeller guards make it seem less agile than the NEO and I did notice that sometimes it could hit something on the far end. From a video quality point of view, and other features, I'd take the Flip with me instead of the Neo. The Neo suffers too much on dynamic range and video quality in general, but this will depend on what the user wants

@@OttoJulian_ I'll use the Neo FPV. When the weather is better, I'll explore the woods along the Mississippi River. Also for BRoll to use with my Insta360 X4. I've seen folks purposely crash the Nano multiple times into concrete walls, with little damage. I doubt the Flip could stand up to the same abuse. My Autel Nano+ has a good camera. If the Flip ends up being able to be used with the N3 Goggles and sold separately for under $300. I will buy one.

Hello Otto. Since Dji Flip doesn't have 60Fps in vertical mode. So if I shoot horizontally in 4k 60fps. How can I convert this horizontal video into vertical without losing quality (atleast not less than 1080p quality). Can you please make a video on this topic. Please suggest free apps or software to do this conversion. I tried VN and capcut and tried to crop and change frame. But for some reason quality went down as soon as I try to adjust the horizontal frame to fit in the vertical frame. Can you make a video and suggest easy method to fix this. Thanks

I have a busy schedule for the next weeks not sure if I’ll be able to fulfill this request but I’ll look into it. I think you need a more powerful editor that lets you export at a higher quality. But you did the right thing, which is to shoot horizontal in 4K and the reframe to fit it in vertical. Shouldn’t be a huge difference in the quality after exporting

Personally i didn't appreciate the design.. and It looks less sturdy as compare to neo.. i think if i will buy another drone i will choose hover air pro max because it can hover above water.

I flew over a lake pretty low and had no issues (with the controller) but yeah, it seems that people have mixed feelings about the design

@OttoJulian_ Although at least it can now hover over water.. but i really didn't appreciate the design. How i wish they design it like a bigger neo that can be folded. Imagine a bigger neo with sd card with the gimbal of the flip.
