DJI Fly App Update v1.4.12 - Live-Stream From Your Drone

The DJI Fly App for iOS has recently been updated to version 1.4.12 and this update has now added the ability to live stream from your drones such as the DJI Mini 2, DJI Air 2S, and the Mavic Air 2. I have not fully tested the live stream capabilities I will be doing that shortly so keep an eye out for that. This update has been available for android devices for several weeks now, but finally, live streaming is now available on iOS.

All my KZbin videos are filmed on an iPhone and edited on an iPad Pro in LumaFusion. I am a minimalist/mobile KZbin creator. I like to keep things simple.

So apparently you have to first name the live stream within YT, and set the visibility to public. I hope DJI comes out with a more user-friendly setup for this. This is pretty clunky, so your tutorial is really appreciated!

Hopefully they get back to the level of the DJI Go app which had Facebook/KZbin direct connections and displayed comments live on the screen so you could actually respond to comments, at least it's a step in that direction

Tried this with my DJI Mini SE today but cannot get it to work, keep getting the message Stream failed and it's showing 0 Bars next to the stream indicator, anybody else had an issue like this?

I tested it yesterday with iphone 11. About a 30 second lag and audio was horrible. After talking with a friend that has been using it quite a bit, he has found newer devices, audio is worse, the older the phone or tablet is, the better. I have a 2017 ipad, going to try it out on that soon. Super easy to set up, just took a few tries and a phone reboot to get it to work.

That was very useful. The KZbin Live stream works fine, but the FB one doesn't. Not sure if I'm not entering the address/key correctly. You do have to remove the s from rmtp in order for the app to see it as a valid address. Maybe that's what I'm doing wrong.

Same here, removed the "s", but if gives a failure message after a few seconds into the stream.

Northing wrong with your video, but the technology for DJI just isn't there. I use both an Android (Samsung S10+) and iPad Mini (5th gen). First, I'm confused at why DJI didn't follow the same bitrate format across platforms and the audio is terrible. I get echo and breakup and that's with a 700/40 Internet speed, right near my WiFi access point. At one point, I thought it might be KZbin, so I attempted to create a MonaServer (internal RTMP) and that doesn't work because it relies on Adobe Flash Player which is no longer supported. I used RMTP for over a decade with video cameras and a Wowza server and also KZbin for live music events. Never had an issue.

So with the Mavic 2pro and the DJIGO4 app before starting the live streaming you were given the chance of naming your video and deciding if to make it public, unlisted, or private. It seems like on this DJI Fly app that's not the case, or it is? Can you actually do that?...

It seems that for each new stream you need to re-copy/paste stream URL + Key. I hope in future updates DJI allows you to edit the audience and add a title to your Livestream BEFORE starting. In many instances I imagine people wouldn’t want millions of viewers to see their live stream, rather just a limited group of people like clients or family.

Since youtube requires 100 followers to livestream from your phone, I figured out how to get it running with twitch. Not hard once you understand the terminology. But anyway, I got LOTS of drop-outs during my little test. I'm using Android and I'm on a fiber-fed wifi -- no excuse for drop-outs -- but it would miss like 30 seconds at a time and then come back. I hope it gets more reliable than that. So far, reporting news is the only real idea I have for legitimate use, but it does seem cool if it's reliable. I did seem to get a second update just now, not sure if it will improve it or not.

@@TheKiiS I did indeed. I set up a local server to stream to using the RTMP then screen captured that separately so I could integrate it with my streaming software. Didn't have cut outs, but did have some periodic drops in video quality, which I'm attributing not to my internet connection but to the drone itself (which makes me unsure how to fix, but it was satisfactory quality most of the time at least)

Sadly, the rtmp streaming option is not available on the RC Controller.

Followed directions, but when I attempt to stream from KZbin, it's a black screen and I get errors like "bitrate too high" etc. (Android Galaxy S21, DJI Mini 2 with DJI Fly App)

I did exactly this and it does not work at all. I got literally 1 out of 10 to actually work and be viewable on KZbin so who knows. I know it’s capable of working because of the one time but hardly stable or reliable. And also there should be a way to see that you truly are live-streaming successfully because that red circle says u see but then u end stream and nothing. Sucks.

U are right. For Android the bitrate is 5Mbps and 3Mbps. So its much higher. But its still too complicated for common people to use is.

I only ever tried it to KZbin I don’t think it streams to the other platforms. However it is very buggy and most of the time doesn’t work well

That's just unrealistic. DJI would have to become a streaming video provider, which would have to be paid for so you'd end up having a subscription fee to be able to do it. That's all very messy and unlikely to be profitable.

That's for becoming KZbin Partner, which grants features for your KZbin Live like channel memberships and super chat, otherwise you should be fine to get started. There might be some restrictions for mobile streaming though, but maybe you figured that out by now.
