While confusing, I think its pretty dam good the new goggles and controller 2 work with all past units and you can still get the old hacks working, you can’t expect full compatibility with everything moving forward, seems like they have maxed out what’s compatible with hardware being the limiting factor and why it is like it is, with so many different hardware combos it’s going to be a little confusing trying to get compatibility, I’m sure there’s some things that could be better, how would you like the mess tidied up? We wanted new smaller Fatshark type goggles and got them, tho not perfect I think dji have done pretty Well to accommodate the many requests and wants of so many, of course there’s always things that could be better, but I’ve never been happier flying digi that i ever was on analog.

@@MadRC Hello. I have DJI FPV and Geprc Mark 5 with O3 system. The idea was use both drones with same goggles and controller ( you switch in Settings > About > Switch Aircraft Model ). I just did it for the first time. I mean I was flying for weeks with my new Geprc, but I wanted to film a cinematic shot on N mode so today I went with DJI FPV. I turned on everything, went to option to switch it up, restarted the goggles and the drone just won’t work. I have “image transmission lost” and the screen is just black with no indicators, nothing. Why? How do I switch back to DJI FPV now if I want to use it?

Great video & very informative but wow what a mess. I recently upgraded my V2 goggles to the latest firmware along with a new air unit I purchased but now my old DJI remote won't work, I then downgraded the air unit back to vol.00.0608 to match my radio but I can't seem to downgrade my goggles. Is there something I can do or am I having to purchase the new DJI radio? Thank you & I look forward to any advice you can give me, this is so frustrating.

I recently came back to the hobby with my gen 1 goggles and thought it was a good idea to update everything first and tried to bind them for +1h before finding this video. There should be a message in the DJI Assistant or at least in the FAQ on the DJI site. Its also possible there is one and iam just blind. Thx for the video!

Your title is very correct! It is definitely a firmware mess... rather than getting new models every few months nowadays, not once a year like before, they should take care for making it a bit easier with the firmware and think things through. I'm still on version one Googles not planning to change so thanks very much that was very helpful as I download 0608 and it works! 👍. Does 0608 support canvas mode on BF? Great videos sir. I have 4 quads running Vista's, with the v1 goggles and v1 RC, as well as the DJI FPV and Avata (with Goggles v2). Due to the complexity of the firmware between goggles, air units, and RC, it's simply easier to not bother trying to get compatibility, and just use the old rc and goggles with the old vistas. And if I put on my scepticism hat, DJI is ok with the mess, as it encourages users to just buy the newer system. Eventually, the v1 stuff becomes dust collectors, which is such a shame since it's still an amazing FPV system.

If you use the V2 goggles with Avata and remote 2, is it possible to also use the v2 goggles with a vista drone without changing the goggles firmware? That's what is slightly confusing to me.

Briliant Ian, My problem is as i have fw 0606 on my v2 goggles and matching on the air unit, after replacing the fc stack i get no further transmission (black) and 'transmission signal stopped' shown. Everything worked perfectly before with the 2 hacks.. Any advice or solutions desperately needed..cheers Ian

I've had the WTFOS installed on my V2s and they are rooted, can I use the V2s with the Caddix Vista air units if I had to update the DJI side to use my Avata? I did the update to the latest (Yesterday) and I was able to just put the WTFOS and packages back on the DIY side and all seems good.

I’ve got a question.. i’ve updated the goggles 2 and my Dji transmitter 2 to the latest firmware versions. The goggles and the transmitter are binding to the O2 Vista unit that has also been upgraded to the latest version. Everything works, except for the transmitter is not seen in beta flight at all, and it will not arm the drone.. What am I missing??

Regarding the bind with goggles 2 and grey controller 2 and Air unit O3 it works well, instead I'm loosing the bind with the Avata, and vice versa, if i bind my Avata I'm loosing the bind with the 03, I have to bind again each time I switch between O3 and Avata, tiring....😭 Any suggestion on how to solve that issue? in my experience the v2s have better range with vista and air unit when i update firmware to bind vista/air unit with goggles 2 the range is far less but googles 2 with 03 has great range

I wait for Ifligh AOS 6s with 03 air unit I wonder in my case how should i proceed with the fcc, root and the new 03 I will need max power to all of my guads and if i switch from vista to 03 and lose every hack it will be really annoying What can you recomend me how should i proceed

So I just got a cadxx vista for the first time, I already had an 03, which I had working perfectly fine, but now I can't bind the vista, so is there a firmware that will let me use my 03 and the vista, or I have to downgrade the v2 and the vista software to earlier firmwares, and lose compatibility with the 03 or...I'm so confused.

How about the antenna situation with the goggles 2 (linear antenna) so I thought it is just perfect with the o3 antenna. So if we use the vista or the Air Unit then we have worse signal then in the goggles v2 because antenna mismatch right? Can we use a o3 antenna on the vista(?i just wonder which one of the both ufl connectors to connect) because I need my vistas still vor long range and don’t want to have negative sideeffects when using the DJI goggles 2 (switched to goggles 2 because of OSD recording mainly)

It’s not even worth worrying about unless you fly completely flat and level continually. Remember the goggles are MIMO and have antennas at different angles as well.

Great useful stuff! But I have a problem. My V2 Goggles are stuck in HD Air Unit mode with no option on the Settings/Device menus to switch back and forth between modes. I can still fly all of my digital quads, but I can’t get to FPV mode to update the firmware so I can bind to my brand new 03 air unit. Got a fix or any ideas. Much appreciated.

Maybe i missed it, but.. If i upgrade a vista to the latest “O3” firmware, could i use it on the v2 goggles in O3 mode? Then you don’t need to switch modes and lose your bind every time you go from a O3 to a vista or the Avata.

No when you update to that V01.01 firmware it’s only for Giggles 2. It does not work with V2 in O3 mode as it’s not quite the same as O3. I call it O3 firmware but it’s not the same.

When I try to update to the latest firmware for goggle 2, it gets locked up at 99%, and then goes to retry update. Retied a dozen times and just gets stuck and doesn’t go to upload 100% and completed. Any way to get this to load. Just bought the unit and initial set up. Thanks.

wish i had seen this a few weeks ago. got an O3 at a killer price and decided to install it into a new 7" build, finding out this binding issue now =/ luckily the O3 in my build is very easily accessible to rebind each time if/when i go fly it...ill take the WTF hack for now...BUT if this was in a different quad where it wasnt an easy push of the button id def have even more bitter "feels" =/

But the FCC 1200mw mode is only allowed by the location where your goggles is, the firmware will be update when u move to another country and follow the local law(for E.X: China Mainland is SRRC 700mw)

Nope. Not possible. You can use HDZero with Avatar with the VRX module but DJI has no option for this. They are all proprietary systems

OK. I had my DJI Goggles V2 Bound to Protek25 Cadxx Vista V01.00.608. Then I upgraded Goggles V2 to latest firmware so I can bind to Avata. Now I cannot re-bind to Protek25. What firmware version of Goggles V2 do I need to be able to connect both to Caddx Vista and New DJI 03 AIR unit?

It should work in all versions. You need to select the correct mode from the About Screen. The option to change may be below the last option shown. So go into settings, general and about. And scroll down.

Not sure really where to start with all this crap but I’m going to try I have dji v2 goggles caddx vista nebula pro for the camera set up so the other day had an issue with the camera sent it back. They gave me a brand new one same camera and transmitter you would think you put it back in the aircraft and bind it to the goggles and you’re good to go, but with me not so good with computers I wish I would’ve left the same firmwear in my goggles, but I didn’t while I was waiting for the camera to come into the mail. I downloaded the latest firmware to the goggles, which is the beginning to all of my problems and frustrations. when I first hooked everything up, I did get the camera and the goggles to bind and I video but the goggles was not recording I had it set up in the goggles so when you first turned it on it started to record so it wasn’t doing that. so you get out and you watch all of these videos such as yours and realize certain firmware in the goggles won’t work with this camera. Long story short now I have no video nothing power to the camera no problem green light comes on and that’s it. The firmware that you mentioned in this video I do not see it on my computer when I go to that website either one of them. (Fpv series.) or ( consumer drone series) I heard something about a new update for DJI assist. Not sure what that’s all about but right now I don’t know which way to turn. I tried DJI support and that was such a freaking joke. Maybe you know what direction I need to go in to get this matter resolved. I really would appreciate some help, thanks Steve

O have a question about my DJI FPV goggle V2 with 03 system. Cuz I'm showing it's at 30 to 33 Mbps instead of 50.8 mbps, what can i do to get 50.8 mbps back?? My dual antenna is in very good condition, nothing wrong with antenna, i have checked the antennas 3 times, but nothing wrong with antennas, i don't get it why I'm showing the 30 to 33 Mbps instead of 50.8 Mbps. Can you help me, please, Ian?? Cuz i have tried asked other drone FPV pilots like Nick Burns and he have no clue why I'm showing 30 to 33 Mbps on DJI FPV goggle V2 with 03 HD system and it's driving me crazy to see 30 to 33 Mbps. But when i switched back to Vista and original Air Unit system, they are showing me perfectly at 50.8 mbps. I don't get it, can you please help, Ian?? This is driving me crazy 🤯.... Could it be from firmware bug???

Ok that is bloody odd. It should be 50Mbps. When you arm does it start recording ? Have you re flashed the O3 firmware ?

The Integra does not work with the FPV drone. Only the V2 goggles.

As they continue adding more incompatible crap, this stinks when you spend all day working on something you think you did wrong that was simply a result of piss poor planning by a corporation. They should have let the hobby develop organically with time developed support if they were not gonna at least add consistency along the way. Sell the branch off to the hobbyists!! I'm sure you have enough other stuff in development.
