They held horizon because when he did that tumble in the sky the drone automatically switches to hover so you don’t crash it into the ground. I’m sure you know all of this by now but yeah, great video man.

This was a fun video. I have an Avata on the way. I've never flown in manual mode but I fly RC helicopters and I'm pretty confident. I already have the DJI FPV Controller 2 and use it for my Liftoff flight sim and I'd say I'm pretty good. I can shoot small gaps and even do 180s inside small structures on the sim. I'm hoping the Avata is at least as well behaved as the sim drones. I'm regretting not ordering extra batteries already. lol Have fun and thanks for sharing. The view from a beginner's eyes is way more useful than any pro flyer out there.

@@scoobydew2232 Very similar in general but the Avata has control issues when attempting any relatively fast turns. Going to have to upgrade the motors.

Very funny video man! :D I always tells people to try simulator first for a while, or, if you own a dji you need to go high to try Acro mode, in this way you will have the time to switch to N/S mode or press the emergency brake button. Once you learned to fly acro mode, to most precious tip i could give you when you fly with Avata, if you are not far enough from the ground, dont go backwards, if you do it while going forward and then turn going backwards it will fall down. If it happens when you are high enough, you just need to give a lot of throttle and it will recover, and if it falls for 5 meters in that way the Avata will go automatically in Normal mode as when you press the emergency button. If you guys keep this in mind, you will have your drone saved, especially if you are flying on the water. If there is wind is wrost. I exprienced that on 2 Avata, and you can find a lot of videos about that around. If you want to try this to understand, just go high as much as possibile, go fast forward and then turn in backwards going in reverse, once you made it, it will fall upside down, remember after 5 meters falling it will switch in normal mode ( Check avata updates ), i suggest you to have ready the Throttle stick and switch button. Dad had it right, go up higher in manual mode so you have time to correct it and hit the panic button if you need to. Nice video though, i enjoyed it.

Yea, flying under the power lines would be OK with more experience using the RC, especially in the M mode, but it certainly adds an unnecessary risk factor while learning. Also checking the B4UFLY app before flying would have avoided the surprise “oh, we’re close to an airport” disruption.

I haven't gotten the courage to go manual yet, still on the sim and an analog tiny whoop is on it's way for practice! Did you adjust the throttle sticks on the controller or are you flying manual with sticks still automatically going to the middle?

In this video I was flying with the throttle stick springy! I have since changed it to take out the spring!

Just out of curiosity and possibly for the benefit of anyone who might want to know also, I'm guessing you have the dji care? Could you do a short video on the process, time frame for the new one, and any additional cost besides the initial dji care? For instance I've recently had a gopro replaced through their warranty and even though they waved a fee, there is still supposed to be a fee with gopro in their subscription "free" replacement. I have not tried that! You would probably have to change the pairing in the DJI fly app

Did you hit the pause button when it was falling in the lake? It should have saved itself. If it wouldn't, you should get a free replacement if you send the flight telemetry from the goggles.

i think the problem was i accidentally shut off the motors, although you would think the pause button would be a failsafe even for that. turns out thats not the case.

@@maxadams69 That's a big problem with DJI. They make the disarm stick positions so that they can be accidentally hit during flight. I don't have my Avata yet but I think my FPV drone could be set up to failsafe at a hover instead of shut down. I need to see the Avata menu to see that though.

Unless you have been constantly playing computer games using a gamepad all your life, you won't have the necessary sensitivity to thumb the sticks for precision flying. Pinching the sticks gives you far better control but chokes up your finger movement and severely limit your ability to utilize full deflection of the sticks. Instead, use a 'hybrid pinch' grip (plenty of youtube videos that explain how to) which will give you very good dexterity, precision and control to your stick inputs without the disadvantages of 'pure thumbing' and 'pure pinching'. Losing your drone because it dove into a lake after you lost control of it during manual mode ? .....can't say that I am surprised that an expensive crash was the logical and inevitable consequence of anyone impulsively diving into manual mode 'cold turkey'. Good luck on your second drone.

Flying manually is not easy. if you think that is hard try flying a Trex 450. When you master that, fly manual mode, it will be really easy 🙂
