DJI just made the Mini 3 Pro a lot more "PRO"!

After 3 and a half weeks of making a really well-crafted review the day after it goes live DJI release new firmware which makes something that I say no longer accurate. This was after spending 2 hours talking in-depth with them about what is going on with the camera and what it was capable of!
As KZbin won't let you replace videos and I wasn't going to lose all those lovely comments by re-uploading it, the only way to make sure people who watch my reviews have completely accurate info was by making this quick follow up.
When looking at the bitrate in the graphic showing 10 bit I blurred it after uploading as it was for a black image after updating so what it was showing wasn't correct. The bitrate is the same as 8 bit which is around 90mbps in 4K 24p etc H265.
Also, it should say 16.7 million colours for 8 bit, not 1.67. Typo!

Make sure you watch the full proper review here as this video covers only two things: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aWa4amaPo6ege5o This is a typo in this where I say 8 bit is 1.67 million colours, it is 16.7 million. I also blurred the bitrate for 10 bit as that was for a black image so it wasn’t correct. It’s the same as 8 bit so around 90mbps. Make sure you watch until the very end...I do like my MCU post-credit scenes! Please remember my sense of humour when it comes to that scene! :)

It'll be interesting when they release the SDK for this model and apps like Litchi can get their hands on it allowing you to adjust the sharpness/contrast/etc. That combined with the now 10-bit capabilities seems like it's going to make this sub-1k drone a serious flying pro-ish camera. Oh a side note, Your reviews from a photographic and cinematic point of view is done extremely well and no skimping on the details of the review itself. It's definitely something for me to aspire to.

You do realize making a statement like this when you're thrilled about something, of course but it will only serve to have Dji feel that they'd best not keep giving too much of a good thing, right. I mean say you're thrilled and happy etc , but please refrain from saying it's exceeding your expectations for a mini or sub 250 gram yada yada. Just a little friendly advice and imo, that which I'm sure most people struggling financially or maybe just frugal would agree... Ya don't need to suggest to a multi billion dollar co. to hold back features and or upgrades bro, they're pretty cheeky on not over giving anything away as it is so let's take what they're willing to provide without hollering out for a hard stop, lol. Most cameras you can just turn off or adjust the noise reduction. DJI should include an option to turn it off, or control the intensity. Super excited about 10 bit tho!

Did you notice that the max shutter speed has been reduced to 2 seconds? Or at least that's what the manual says... Every other mini- even the original and SE had 4 seconds max shutter, all the airs- even the original had 8 seconds. It hasn't been as low as 2 seconds since the Spark more than 5 years ago! This is a bummer for long exposure and time lapses :(

@Phillip Bloom I bought a mini 3 and am of a similar mind when it comes to Cinematic mode and i got curious and went into the controller and adjusted the gimbal settings and played about with those and also played around with the EXP rates for control to slow them down to try to reproduce tripod mode. It seems to help me a lot. Maybe this might help you as well if you try it. I set the EXP rates to minimum (0.1) I also wrote a lengthy response to the DJI customer satisfaction survey begging for pro camera mode, tripod mode and noise filter control. Needless to say, too lengthy to be able to send. They have sent me multiple surveys. Maybe I'll have to split them.... Hahaha

Dear Philip, I wish to take a moment to let you know how much I appreciate your experienced, pro-level contributions to the motion-arts community. Your insights are priceless and manufacturers would be wise to heed your recommendations and listen carefully to your advice, if not pay you outright for consulting services during their technical design stage of product development. Thank you for sharing your insights with the community in such a tasteful and enjoyable way. That said, and there is always a “that said” clause with my compliments, I would caution against using any drone (or camera for that matter) at or near its overheating limits, in a use configuration for which it is not primarily intended. As many are aware, when it comes to electronics, heat is a primary contributor to noise. Indeed, this may be the reason why the tweakers at DJI got the sharpening and noise reduction wrong in the first place. They may have made their tests and adjustments while the drone was sitting on a bench, rather than being up in the air where it belongs. I may be completely wrong about this, but my experience with high-end astrophotography cameras that employ “icy-grade,” active cooling systems leads me to conclude that indeed heat is the enemy of low-noise images. My 2 cents. C-ya!

thanks...but I am sure you realise this is not how I use my drone, right? These are simple tests, and I 100% am sure there is no risk and no damage to the drone. I don't even know why you wrote that part of your comment because it was so clear in the video these were just to do controlled image comparisons over a short period of time. Also, do you really think their camera tests are done with it in a normal drone? Of course, they test with it in and flying, but most of their tests are not done in an enclosed drone. One last thing, I am using their drone in this video, if anything DID go wrong they would simply replace it! :)

I own a dji r2s, I don't even have an autel drone but I've been working with images for 25 years, I only mentioned the comparatives, which I saw in this category that were made with the autel nano plus, it's the price of the mini 3 for being a sub 250 o I thought it was expensive, dji has great products, but that doesn't mean we have to think that a launch has no problems.
