I've watched two of your videos today on the Pro, and the 2. You guys are really good at what you're doing. Thank you.. I am new to drones. I have purchased three smaller, less expensive ones, in the last two years, and just making myself familiar with operation of a drone, and having fun. I recently purchased the pro, waiting a year for black friday.. I haven't flown it yet, super busy with work, also need to register it, and trying to learn as much about the mavic pro as possible.. Sorry, long winded.. Mainly, Thankyou for an incredible new video site...

I think the Mavic Pro Platinum has it covered for most consumers. Unlike the Mavic Air, the Platinum has Occusync, which does not depend on WiFi for its video down link, which gives the Platinum better range. For someone who is good on the sticks, the extra sensors of the Mavic 2 Pro are not needed, unless you are a rock climber, extreme downhill mountain bicyclist, or fast downhill skier who frequents places like Loveland Pass, some place in the Colorado Rockies. I would say that less than 5% of the population fit in those categories because most people don't have that kind of money. That narrows it down to two DJI models for the rest of us if we want to take home a brand new aircraft, since the Spark is discontinued. Those would be the Mavic Air, and the Mavic Pro Platinum. I would only consider a Mavic 2 Pro if I had a Part 107 license and intend to make a lot of money running an aerial photography business. A casual user will never take full advantage of the Mavic 2 Pro. That narrows it down to the Mavic Air and its WiFi limitations but several automated features and slightly better camera, or slightly more for a Mavic Pro Platinum which has better range and can be flown behind the tree line, yet has a minimal amount of sacrifice in video quality and fewer gimmicks. Also, the Mavic Air has a fixed-focus lens, while the Platinum has variable focus. Pick and choose wisely!

This whole video may sound like a commercial promotion, but guess what, it actually is a very accurate and honest review. The best test of any media is to verify if their presentation matches your own experiences. Flitetest does so reliably.

I have both Mavic 2 Pro & Phantom 4 Pro. They’re both great drones, I truly enjoyed flying them! The mavic 2 pro is a huge upgrade from mavic pro 1 (sold my mavic pro 1 before I got my m2p) Compared to the mp1, the m2p is better in every aspects (bigger camera, better transmission signal, stable flight , hyperlapse mode etc..) In the hands of a capable photographer, both of them p4p & m2p will definitely produce great image quality! If you believe the overblown drama about the m2p, just don’t buy it. It’s your own money, just get other drones. What really matters is that you’re satisfied with your own purchase! and I’m very satisfied with mine.

@ 14:00 he speaks of the side sensors that only work in 2 non-full-speed modes...that seems pretty upfront and not all happy happy joy joy. I'm a nature and travel shooter and am so glad to abandon that large Phantom backpack for this small foldable. Pretty sure I'm done with Phantoms. They all served me well. You gotta be pretty good in post to get all this sensor can give you image-wise...but it is doable. Lots of excellent KZbin vids with great M2P footage. DJI as a company can piss us off, but they still make the best aerial gear.

hi guys lovely video. The H264 codec is more of a compression. So you can get smaller file sizes out from the drone. If you want to use the footage for post production just shoot in LOG with flat colour profile and not in h264. otherwise good video. Cheers, Rob

I bought the mavic pro 2, no regrets it's a fantastic device. I don't know shit about photography, typically i'm the type of guy who should have gone with a Mavic Air according to the video but coming from a spark I didn't want that wifi again no matter how enhanced it is. How critical is it in pointing the controller exactly at the drone for that far with ocusync? I’ve seen some videos with people standing to the side and still getting pretty far. I know with my old phantom it was pretty important to point right at the drone, but didn’t know if it was as important with ocusync or not.

An Inspire 2 has greater flexibility in that you can mount different cameras. It also is very fast, and can handle cold and windy weather. The disadvantage of the iInspire 2 is its size..harder to transport, and it is much louder, so if you want to film an event it is disruptive.

@kentucky4696
@kentucky4696 5 жыл бұрын
@@nia6849 not sure about that... there's not a big difference between the pro an pro platinum i believe the only things the Platinum has that the regular pro does not is better esc's in the motors, and quieter more efficient props giving the Platinum like a min of extra flight. Then the color of the drone but thats just cosmetic lol. You can change out the props with platinum props to make it a little quieter not sure if it increases the flight time, i think the new esc's had something to do with that more so than the new props.

@@kentucky4696 I don't know man, the Mavic 2 is easily a great upgrade to the original pro. I have the M2P and the camera quality comes very very close to something like a Phantom drone with a great 1" sensor and variable aperture. Plus it has better sensors along with ActiveTrack 2.0 which I have to say has been amazing to use when biking around. Obviously, if you have the Platinum then it wouldn't make sense to get the M2P due to money but its a very solid drone to fly around.

Precision landing isn't standard anymore. Unfortunately, the Return to Home behavior is no different than the phantom 1 and 2, and can be off by several feet. This could be a problem if you took off in a tight window, between trees, or from a dock. And I know you know how to land manually, but in the event of a disconnect or controller failure, precision landing is a hugely helpful feature. DJI has said they are looking into it, but despite having the hardware to do it there is no guarantee that the feature will return.

Just be aware DJI accept no responsibility for software issues after the one year warranty expires. I lost my drone in the ocean (Mavic Pro) when it forced landed after a warning appeared that I had flown into a NFZ. Trouble is I was 40kms south of the nearest NFZ. I showed DJI maps from their own ‘Fly Safe’ App, maps from Australia’s CASA app and the flying log and they just said sorry but it is out of warranty and only offered a pathetic 10% discount on my next drone purchase. The drone was in excellent condition, was very responsive up until that time, had 16 satellites and had 80% on the battery. No reason for it to be forced down. DJI customer support service is poor. In my view they are unethical corporate citizens

TLDR: Would something like the Mavic Air be easier to fly for a noob like me, than a cheap, off the walmart shelf, 70 dollar quad? I have basically nil quad experience or any RC experiance for that matter,, but quads just fascinate me. I currently have 2 basic quads. A Vivitar "Air Defender" and a Sharper Image DX3. I know these are quite bottom-rung quads. The Vivitar has maybe a minute of flight time. but has a wifi downlink to use with a phone. I think if i disconnect the strips of about 70 LED lights all over the thing, I might be able to double that flight time. The SI I don't know about flight time. I have not used it other than a brief lift-off and set-down in my kitchen. But has no downlink at all. Vivi was about 70 bucks and SI was about 45 bucks. They were both basically novelty gifts from my parents. And I can barely fly either one, as they drift and just go in random directions. Even the short kitchen flight with the SI, I got it about 4 feet up then back down where it skidded across the floor and into a mop. The Vivitar, despite it's microscopic battery, I managed about 50 to 60 feet outdoors, and a little orbit shot before it came down on the roof of the shed with a dead battery. That thing has chewed on it's share of grass, even in the little gears under the props (yikes, but they're fine) Soo Yes with all certainty, I am a noob when it comes to quads. So lets say I just go out and get something like the "Air" Will it's "intelligence" be able to counteract my lack of experience? Meaning, will its automated features help me in keeping the thing out of trees and busy roads, as i learn how to fly it more accurately? OR are these higher-teir quads even more difficult to operate?

We think it would be a nice commercial touch for her clients. And of course vacations.. And recommendations between the two other than camera? Thanks PS anyone else please feel free to respond even if another manufacture.

What about the controversy surrounding the Mavic 2 Pro's image quality? Since Cliff Totten published his findings a number of additional videos have popped up all claiming to show the Mavic 2 Pro's camera has very poor performance when compared to the Phantom 4 Pro's camera (ie overy soft images throughout the aperture range) and also suffers pronounced barrel distortion. Additionally, it appears you can't shoot DLOG in anything but H.265 which can be a serious issue when it comes to editing

Mavic 1 had a very aliased image in 1080p 60fps and I didn't hear about that much either :/

Not from FT, anyway. I sold my first gen Mavic Pro at the beginning of the summer and picked up a Mavic Air and while the Air certainly isn't perfect, its higher bitrate produces much better 4K video than the original MP. I was really hoping the Mavic 2 Pro would produce amazing video quality but it seems all the hoopla around its 1-inch sensor and adjustable aperture is just so much hype. If you pixel peep 4K video shot on the M2P and compare it to video shot on the Air with similar settings and under ideal lighting conditions they look nearly identical. And as for the aperture, anything shot outside of f/5 on the M2P goes soft. That means stopping down to say f/8 or f/11 actually costs you sharpness. Very disappointing

It's bullshit. I sold my p4p for it and would do it again

That is your opinion and I understand the need to defend your purchase however, I'm trying to objective and my friends who have both the Mavic 2 Pro and the Phantom 4 Pro agree that the image quality of the M2P is in fact inferior to that of the P4P - something that extends beyond video and also affects stills. They sent me a series of DNG files from the M2P with successive shots of the same subject [all shot in bright sunlight] ranging from f/2.8 to f/11 and there is definite sweet spot at f/5. Stills shot below and above that aperture are visibly softer than at f/5 with values above that also producing vignetting as the values increase.

The footage coming off of this drone is literally the most filmic and beautiful out there at this price point. If youve watched all of the P4P vs M2P comparisons and think that sharpness is king then you’re a total noob and have no clue what’s up. The P4P image looks great, the M2P looks like a movie. If you think somehow this drone sucks because you’ve watched a bunch of “OMG there’s a crop factor/DJI is a liar blah blah” then PLEASE educate yourself about cameras in general. Crop factors, sharpening in post etc etc.

Hello I am a wedding photographer very recently, but I was a press photographer for many years, I have tried many high performance cameras and in my opinion the P4, P4PRO, M1PRO already made decent pictures, but this M2PRO, apart from its sharpness, has a Very rich tonal range and I very easily recognize a photograph of the M2PRO really make a very positive difference with respect to its predecessors. If I had to choose a drone for photography I would definitely go for the M2PRO it has something special in its images that I love very much.

Make sure to look at the DJI no fly zone map before you buy one of their drones. Don't be like me and drop 1k on a drone you can't fly unless you go 30 miles from your home.
