Really good video. I think this is the only one to compare ph4pro+ obsidian with mavic pro 2. People are just not comparing obsidian a lot. Is it really that good? I have both drones, on pro jobs I use the P4P and for my own projects I use the Mavic2. Partly due to the client impression but mostly because of the 4K 60p providing the option to slow down the footage. I always take both drones on pro jobs as one serves as back up if needed. And you do say "Super" a lot!!!!

Haha I do say super a lot! Thanks for the feedback. Yeah having a bigger drone even if the quality is similar is helpful when shooting for client work because they see and big drone and think is much more impressive haha. Funny how size makes a difference in how the camera is perceived.

I disagree about the controllers. I own both of them and the phantom’s feels clunky and heavy. The Mavic’s feels intuitive kinda like a video game controller. It’s easy to use and light.

Sorry, I felt the video a bit biased towards the phantom . The image towards the lake looked superior on the mavic to me . I sold my p4a to get a m2p and I2. Regret it as the mechanical shutter would have been useful for a mapping job coming up. I think the 2 drones bring different things to the party. The controller of the mavic is incredible and it’s signal strength between drone and controller the best I have experienced . The inspire is terrible for that. Wish I could get a quid for every time you say super lol ....I’d be rich as Croesus 🤣

No thank you for replying to me. I thought the image comparisons in the review was very well done. I love the mavic 2 after flying with the p2, p3 and p4 due to compactness and speed from bag to air. I cam carry it with my DSLR and lenses in ine bag. Allowed me to film an unexpected humpback that suddenly appeared whilst I was on a cliff top. Any other drone and I would have missed it. Take a look at my page and see some of the stuff I manage with my m2p. 😁

Yes, I think, as a fan of the Phanton you'll have to like that one much better. But, keep in mind that the phantom isn't really transportable. So for travellers the mavic is in my opinion the better one, for guys who are going to the film location only by car, the phantom.

Out of dozens of You Tube videos I've watched on this comparison, you are the first person to say the Phantom is better in low light. If these are all shot in auto, than that might explain why?

for me, i like more the P4p, i still have the P4 standard and for me is still good, the M2 is incredible drone just i dont like the remote controller, i feel like more shipper than the p4.

Mavic 2 pro has 10 bit color and has a crop mode which is the highest quality you can get out of these drones because of the pixel binning.

Your not bias at all sorry you do have some good point but your so in love with the phantom I believe that if you shot with manual the mavic at night the phantom will fall short in image quality

Appreciate the feedback. I have not tried shooting in manual in extreme low light with the Mavic so that would have been something I should try if I do a comparison again. This is my first time doing a comparison video so there is definitely room for improvement. Best wishes, -Christopher

I don't have neither of these drones but looking at the image comparison the mavic 2 is more brighter and has better dynamic rage than your phantom. The sharpness can be set higher in mavic 2 and would still look better than the phantom in terms of quality.

@Gregory Allya Warji Looks like atleast someone here have brains. I dont know where these youtubers come from, doesn't have any technical knowledge but still tries to speak a like a pro. Yes bro, the m2p has more dynamic range which is making it look brighter, p4p is totally gone no details available in shadows. The m2p has more better & natural color science due to that warmer tone & higher bit rate, p4p has that noob youtuber style cool tone to it. The m2p has actually a very good sharp but soft looking details, similar to a cinema camera. You can always push that sharpness up in the post but i personally love the soft look because it matches the footage of professional dslr, mirrorless or cinema cameras, specially the soft touch of the cannon c200. I hope one day this youtubers will learn how to actually review a drone by both professionals & non professionals point of view.

@@seekers5181 honestly i own the m2p since 3 months and really proud of it in all ways. I only do +1 to the sharpness and -1 to the contrast, switch to manual focus and set it to infinity, dlog, lower the gimbal pitch and thats it give me the most cinematic video experience ever! Far away from peoples attention when having to carry it somewhere.. What else do we need? Thanks for the review though mate. Appreciate your efforts but m2p is the best. Forgot to mention abt the dinamic range ;)

First mistake the antennas are not positioned correctly the signal does not come from the tips the antenna should be upwards not out

I own the Obsidian, and both new Mavic’s. I’ve done a lot of comparisons with them and in the end I’m selling my Obsidian. It was my number one for a long time. I can carry both my drones and all their gear vs. just my Obsidian. Still love my Obsidian but it’s time to part ways for me. Different tastes for different people.

I prefer a thousand times to have 10% less sharpness on a portable package like the M2P than a drone the size of a small dog... also you’ve must have messed with the night settings as the Mavic is better than the Phantom in many other videos. Closing, you cannot compare image quality out of the box as different DJI drones are known for having different levels of sharpness in their basic settings. You should shoot flat, edit at your best and compare the final product.

Hey Tain, Jon has his propellers on because that is how they are stored. They fold up and stay on the drone. I had mine off because I had to have them off to store the drone because it is larger. Thanks for watching
