DJI MAVIC 3 CONSUMER SERIES MAPPING IS NOW POSSIBLE!

So, after hours of reading the KMZ files and losing my mind thinking we would have to wait for DJI to get off their behinds and let us have the SDK files, it's finally possible for us to use the Mavic 3 (3, Cine and Classic) Consumer drones with third party developers and their mapping/ mission planning software.
I have tested this out myself on 10 different flights so far and have not gotten any issues other than the one mentioned in the video.
DJI Flight Hub 2 is free from DJI and all you need is your DJI account. I am working on a fix for the hover issue so we don't have to deal with a slow flight time. I believe you can use any software that outputs KMZ files as long as those KMZ files contain the template.kml and waylines.wpml inside the wpmz archive.
Note- I am not responsible for any property damage or injuries caused by a runaway drone or during your autonomous flight. As always, keep your drone in your VLOS and follow all drone laws and regulations in your country.

Update- I have sold my Mavic 3 Classic and no longer have access to check whether or not this method still works. Keep in mind this video was released months ago so it could very well be that DJI released an update (or several) to prevent users from doing this workaround. DJI is known for this and is the reason they never implemented mapping on the Mavic 3 line other than the enterprise. - Happy flights everyone

This really works it took me 3 days to get it to work, buy I'm old and slow. Just watch his instructions carefully and Pay attention ( I didn't that's why it took me 3 days)...don't mess with anything in Flight Hub use default settings, because you will have to change them in the Waypoints on the controller.

Thank you very much. Have followed your instructions. We are using map easy as a final product and it is working very well. We have also exported KMZ file to Google from there but only thing is it seems to be floating around in space can’t get it on the floor, but for now we have everything working From your instructions just one thing renaming the file had to be renamed , done in the program not in file manager as you suggested other than that we did everything and it worked perfectly. We have a mission and we used on the camera on the GJ I Mavrick, three classic set to take photographs every five seconds worked perfectly. Thank you your a legend

It should work from the desktop or wherever your file is located since it’s just renaming it. I am looking into DroneLink as a cheaper alternative than UGCS as well

Followed the steps carefully to make the waypoints, copying and transferring back and forth from the mini sd to the remote and it worked great. Now just have to test in flight.

I believe DJI just did an update to block access to the system files on the DJI RC. I can no longer transfer the waypoints data to my sd card. Can anyone else confirm?

I really like your discovery and results. I’ve had some success working with the files some using your methods. I discovered a couple shortcuts and I’ll post them here when I learn a little more to be able to describe it properly. Have you tried importing any litchi or Drone Deploy missions to see if they can be made functional with the Mavic 3?

Unfortunately I don’t use either program so I haven’t been able to try. If they can output a mission as a .KMZ file it’ll be the same process after renaming the file tot he same as the original remote waypoint mission

Litchi mission hub will export a KML file. I don't see a KMZ file option. But isn't the KML file ultimately what we want?

@@aguyandadrone somewhat correct, the KML file is what has the main code for our flights but that is paired with the WPML file and both of those are compressed into the KMZ. I’ve tried compressing a KML into a KNZ but it would not recognize it

So the best mode is still missing? The proper flight softwares only ask for the area, then one sets up “forward” and “side” percentages, direction, camera angle, height, take photos (mode), return type (landing or RTH) and the first point to start with. Have to keep using _Copterus_ or something… _VideoDrone_ has a nice area mapping software though. I’ve been doing photogrammetry area mapping(3D survey) for 6 years now. VideoDrone is a very good option, but it is a bit on the expensive side.

This must be on the RC Plus controller? Can you not just plug the controller into your PC? Would eliminate transferring the files to a SD card. They must have changed Flight Hub 2. It doesnt look how yours does and i dont see Flight Route Library.

To open it up you can use WinRAR. It’ll give you 2 files inside. When you’re ready to zip them up you can use WinRAR again

Yes. Set up a mission to whatever your need is and then you can import it to WebODM or maps made easy or pix4d or agisoft to create your 3D models

@@Antonio_Cabanillasit won’t be the same precision since those drones using gps vs rtk or ground stations but depending on what your client needs you may be able to deliver using this method without an issue. Non-rtk drones are good up to 10 feet I think it is bs 0.5 feet for the others. I’m not too familiar with modeling so my information is limited unfortunately

Thanks for the video. I just tried this - using the mapping option for the M3E that is now available in FH. It loads onto the controller and everything looks fine, but as soon as I try to run it the app crashes (fly app running on RC Pro), It will run missions I create on the controller just fine, so there is obviously something in the KMZ it doesn't like. If I figure it out I'll post an update but, for now, this either doesn't work...or doesn't work with the map option even though it looks like it comes in as a waypoint route.

I am working on wpml/kml files trying all sorts of things to reverse engineer the commands that the Fly app now acknowledges regarding the name formatting differences between wpmz 1.0.6 (FH2) and 1.0.2 (DJI fly) since I dont believe that DJI Fly is straight up unable to not fly curved in WP mode. Also when i press to create a route i have both options (waypoint route, area route) but as soon as i press waypoint route the workspace is total different so i can not do what this legend shows us. When I open the map to creat my waypoints initially without the drone connected, the waypoint icon is missing. Is anybody else having this issue? If so what did you do to resolve this issue?

Make sure your app/controller are on the most up-to-date versions. I’ve seen it happen often with people that use the RCN1

Have you had this happen, you can open your new waypoint on the remote and it looks fine, Then you turn off the controller load the file again and the path lines are scrambled , waypoints look fine but the path is all screwed up.

It happens all the time when you create the waypoint mission using Flight Hub 2. If you create mission using the DJI controller the path lines do not get scrambled.

The application has been updated, when starting it there will be a crash in the application. I tried using area route and waypoint, if I use area route it will crash and if I use waypoint the point will be messed up.

@@UnitedGrom The current method is to use litchi or dronelink, DJI is so smart they force us to buy the enterprise series which costs 3 times more than the DJI Mavic 3 which has almost the same specifications.

@@bmylan for the notification not popping up about the SD card he made a comment on the Facebook page to a guy to reset the remote itself cause the notification was silenced and you can’t bring them up

There is no way to access the internal storage of the RC without inserting an SD card. If you’re not getting the notification about the SD card like I did in the video you have to reset the controller. At one point you may have silenced the notification and those cannot be turned back on without a reset. Like mentioned above, ask for help instead of looking like a jackass. You’re the only person having an issue with this.

Just make a map using dronelink and then save the kmz. Move the kmz into the dummy mission golder swap file names delete dummy mission and done. There is no need to move the dummy file onto your PC just to comply the name.
