Your 2 comparison picture of the monastary, were taken under different light conditions. The 2s was not equal scene, as it was golden hour, when photography is superior. You are a great drone person, but I felt if you were comparing regular cameras, you were being underhanded. Thus I stopped watching at 3:59 after you said fanatastic. How would the Air2 stack up at the same time of day? I know you can't fly 2 drones at once, but then unless you have another pilot, you can't really show exactly how superior one is over the other. How about flying the Air 2 at the perfect time for photos, and then fly the Air 2s at a time when the lighting is flat and washed out?

I see your point, and I generally campare drone footage within the same 20 minutes. In this case I could not do it, as sadly my Mavic Air 2 passed away a couple of months ago during a mission, like a hero. So I used some footage I had taken previously and tried to shoot with the 2S under conditions as close as possible

@@VICVideopIC Sorry about your loss! I got the Air 2 after it came out because of it's slight superiority over the Mavic Pro "Platinum". But I always consider using these in the best possible lighting conditions. If the "mood" is wonderful, and the subject is captivating, (Just like in portrait photography) nobody notices the miniscule differences, even though they can be seen under evaluative scrutiny. Maybe later I can afford a newer model! Thanks for being cool! It shows your kind temperment, next to your special personality, and observations! Aloaha from Maui, Coe

Thank you so much! Finally found a video about the photo comparisons of these two drones! Every other vid i've found is about the filming. I was confused about the fact that the camera was so much better in the Air2S but the Air2 had '48' megapixel. Now I understand ;P I have the Air 2 and this was the last thing I was confused about holding me back from getting the Air2s. I will definitely upgrade now. Awesome stuff, subbed. Keep up the awesome vids!.

Well done comparison as always. I upgraded from Air 2 to 2s. I definitely notice cleaner results and less distortion in difficult HDR situations with the 2s. I still felt the original Air 2 was more than adequate for most situations. It is really interesting to see so many You Tubers out there very angry and negative about the Air 2s. Either way, I am quite satisfied. I would like to request you do a good Davinci Resolve color grading tutorial using HLG and Dlog with the Air 2S. I feel this is essential to truly get the most out of this drone.

Very nice, however, all comparisons were made in images with difficult light conditions, I assume that in bright and well-oriented sunshine, the difference would be negligible?
@VICVideopIC3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Marko, you are right, I tend to use difficult condition to test the capabilities of drones. Weith easy light there is less difference, but the 2S performs again better if you do post processing,as the 10 bit color modes are sensational

Thank you, I was looking for this video comparison. So even with the HDR or bracketing or 48mp selected, the MA2s is indeed better? I have been considering upgrading to the MA2s over the MA2 for this and especially for the low light conditions I like to shoot in. Gracias!

Hi Claudio, I find the Air 2S a sensational drone. I certainly prefer it to the Mavic Air 2, which was already very good

well done comparison. but why your photo shots with air 2 are so dark even in good light condition. I shot a photo with my air 2 with same condition and I have better result than yours. I don't know maybe because of new updates?

Hi Vic, great video as always. Just a question regarding 3:30 where you compare images from the Air 2 & Air 2S at the monastery. Are these the raw files right from the drone without any processing? If so, I believe DJI have admitted that they post-process the raw images in the Air 2S, so they look a little "better" right off the SD card. Of course, this doesn't detract from the fact the camera is stunning, I have so many fantastic images from this drone in so many scenarios.
@VICVideopIC3 жыл бұрын
Thank you Dan, Both images are processed. I recovered the shadows in post production and the amount of information in the shadows with this drone is huge
@rupestrevideo3 жыл бұрын
Hi. This two photos are not comparable because the first (Mavic Air 2) is with the sun in the back of the drone and the second (Air 2s) the sun is behind the monastery. So the light set up is about the opposite. To see a direct comparison the pictures should be taken in about the same moment.
@astonishingpixels88842 жыл бұрын
First of all, nice video and thank you for putting this together. I am sure it took you quite some time to make this entire video and I am very thankful that you did. However, I don't think all pictures were taken on the same day from both of these drones. For example, at 3:40, you show us the picture of Mavic Air 2. At 3:45, you show us the picture of Air 2S. However, looking at the parking lot on the right, I can easily tell that they weren't taken around the same time, if not same day. I would highly advice you to take all of the future pictures in the same day around same time. It makes it a much fair test and it would help people like me who are considering to upgrade to Air 2S from the Mavic 2. If the comparison is not fair, then no matter how much effort one puts into a making of a video, it will be a meaningless video. With that said, I hope you didn't took this the negative way and I hope you will make better comparisons in the future! Good luck!!

Hi, I always test two drones side by side, taking shots immediately one after the other. But in the case of that video I had sadly lost my Air 2 a few weeks before, so I could not use the usual routine
@rjlewis39323 жыл бұрын
The point that everyone misses, is these are “off the card” images. If you don’t use editing software then sure, the 2S with it’s 1” sensor generally looks better. I totally disagree with your assessment of the Quad-Bayer filter. I use the 48mp mode for most of my stills which give phenomenal results. Finally, without a variable aperture fixed at 2.8, the 2S camera is crippled. To get professional grade photography you need control over depth of field. I’ve had the Air 2 for over a year, and a marginally better camera is not enough for me to “trade up.” I’m patiently waiting for the 3 Pro which is rumored to have a 4:3 Hasselblad which will make it a truly professional camera drone.

I agree with you, the Mavic Air 2 is a very good drone, no need to upgrade if you already own one. But still, the Air 2S is a sensational surprise

Sorry but it looks like You edit post the air 2s and compare to air2 unedited. Colors are bit richer on air2s but not that much! You compare almost hdr from 2s to unedited air 2. I have both, the air2s produce better quality but not that extremely as You showed.
@VICVideopIC3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, I always edit my images. The ones taken with the Mavic Air 2 were processed in a relatively subtle way, as I generally do. With the one one of the Air 2s I started pushing the editing further and further to see how far I can go. And I realised that I can push these files a lot, recover the shadows and modify the colors in any way I liked. Of course I went much further than what I normally do, but the point was exactly to show how much I can push the files in post processing
