I got idea how to test "3D map creating" - try to move drone forward to some object until they detect it. After that try move close to the same object by sideways where this object will be not in sonars range.

The HDR pictures don't look that much different initially but it's when you edit them you will find a great deal more color space and latitiude to work with.

None of the early reviewers have properly compared the Intelligent Flight modes with the Mavic Pro. The Mavic Air does not have Course Lock, POI, Home Lock, or Fixed Wing mode. Course Lock and POI are absolute essentials for many of the Cinematic shots I like to use. I also haven't seen any evidence that the Active Track feature on Mavic Air includes the Profile and Spotlight modes of the Mavic Pro (we've only seen Trace mode). Profile is the most important tracking mode for most movie scenes using Active Track. DJI still haven't released the User Manual download for Mavic Air.

Is Mavic Air crippled like the Spark in that only a wifi connection between the phone and remote controller is supported (no cable like the Mavic Pro)? The Spark continues to have connection issues, particularly for those outside the US. It looks like the Mavic Air has the same remote control communications link as the Spark (wifi only , no Occusync). Is this true? Please let us no if you experienced any connection issues during your testing.

You can use a cable between spark controller and phone. I do it, and have the phone in flight mode,so it is definately using the cable.

From other reviews and pictures it looks like the Air RC does have a cable connection between it and the phone. It still uses wifi without Occusync, so I'm concerned the Air will suffer from the same comm/image transmission problems the Spark is noted for.

Can you charge the Mavic Air with a battery bank like you can with the Spark? I often go back country backpacking for days on end and need to charge it via a battery bank. With the Mavic Pro can only be charge via a car battery or AC plug.

Very glad to see rear collission avoidance, as that is where it is needed most. Does it have cinematic and tripod modes? Those are the two modes I used the most often.

Ive noticed very bad "stuttering" in the footage from most reviews of the mavic air (in your footage as well, but not the worst Ive seen as its especially noticeable when filming flowing water or waves). Any thoughts on this? can this be fixed with a software update?

so far i think it is great, i would have made it a part of the spark range as an upgrade. giving it the mavic name makes it look like a downgrade with specs, but as a spark it is a massive upgrade.

I've been looking for a good drone for recording mountain biking videos and I haven't found a good one yet. I'm specifically looking for one that is able to follow me while I'm riding, keep the camera on me through turns, and avoid any obstacles like trees and branches. Very helpful, I have a couple of questions, I'm looking at getting the new Mavic Air that was just released. My main use for the drone will be for our atv outings. If i'm by myself and want to film from above, would the follow me mode be preferred or the active tracking mode ? It seems like the active track mode would work best as in your video here. Does my phone or ipad have to have cellular service ? Also I see you are using a Samsung phone, I have an older Samsung Galaxy 4. I've heard that Apple products work better with the DJI stuff and that there has been glitches when using the Samsung, do you have any feedback ? Show less

what would you do? i have the mavic pro but i'm considering to sell it because drones under 500grams (like the mavic air) do not have any flight restrictions in switzerland (which are pretty hard). it's perfectly clear that i wouldn't fly next to an airport, but in switzerland the no-fly zones are in a 10km radius around airports which leave out almost no space to fly Thanks for your help

I’d really like to know if it supports continuing its waypoint mission of connection is lost like the Mavic Pro. The Spark could not do this which was really disappointing and meant apps using just the DJI SDK for mission planning did not support Spark for missions.

My gripe with all the 'reviews', including this one, is how you show the different features of the aircraft without actually teaching new pilots the method used to enact each mode. Trust me, saying "It does this" without showing HOW you got the aircraft to do the trick, is pretty lame.
