My Magic Air have issues for the flight autonomy 2.0 that support the active track mode ? Because, I test with the lamppost and enabled active track mode. The drone stopped near with lamppost, I also tried 2 x lamppost for same testing that is same result.

Thank you. I have had my Mavic Air for 3 wks now but only flew twice - no time. Being an absolute newbie to drone world but planning to use it for our vacation trips, your idea of using APAS for more than just avoiding crashes but for cinematic shots - reveal etc. is a great idea. Never thought of using it that way. I was wondering if you can test to see if MA with APAS enabled can fly through a corridor opening, a smaller natural arch way etc. both going forwards and backwards. Like flying through an old collapsed church's front double wide doors etc. Or will it stop. And or how large of an opening does it have to be before MA will fly through. I'm hoping MA's APAS is precise enough that I will find a path through openings no larger than say 8-10 diameter.. It would make for great shots if it would. Another thing to test is will APAS keep MA from sideswipe a structure as it fly close to it. ie, flying along the side of a cliff or a building. Thank you.

Very nice video, well explained! If you could have shown footage of Mavic Air itself actually passing over and around the obstacles & not just the video on the Smartphone screen, it would have given a better perspective & would have added value to this video. Hopefully DJI will give us "sideways" obstacle avoidence / APAS in there next drones! Thanks.

Quick question. I know on the Phantoms it may be different but when you come down to land and your lets say 3 feet off the ground you pull the stick down and it lands and the props stop. If you are at a 100 feet and pull the left stick all the way down the props wont stop will they?? Doesn't it sense if it is near the ground?? Sometimes I want to come down faster but am afraid to try it??

Nice Video. But whats special in this feature. You can only do it for kicks and maybe impress some friends (i wouldn't be half impressed though). It isnt worth anything bec most of what it does any average operator can just do it manually with just a 1 second slight right banking.

Hi Timothy, does it do the avoidance curves smoothly. That is more important, bec good drone shots shouldnt have your viewer thinking you suddenly pulled on the joystick to avoid the obstacle. Else this is just a cool feature that will be only fun to watch but will be not useful from a cinematic pov.

How does using APAS impact max flight speed? Is it limited more than just normal obstacle avoidance mode? Maybe similar to Tripod mode or something with a greatly reduced top speed.

No effect on flight speed at all. It's different because rather than stopping at an obstacle, it carefully routes a path around it and proceeds.

Thanks! Haven't tested max flight distance but I always maintain line of sight while flying and it's performing great with no signal loss

Pretty cool that it works that way. But most crashes are not into the side of large campers. From what I have seen most crashes are in to small branches or cables that people don’t see. It’s a cool feature but people should not get a false sense of security.

Thanks for the comment. Although I didn't demo it here, it voided small tree branches and routed around them perfectly for me on a later flight.

Maybe bec its your new toy your gushing over it. I did too. But overall its a fantastic drone. But unreliable. Means it would fly at one location and next spot it would not give you even 70 mtrs of range distance from your remote without losing video feed. I disagree that this is the next best thing to create cinematic possibilities. I do these curves when shooting all the time and i only own the drone for the last 2 months and im a nervous moron. Then imagine what you guys can do, especially if its in tripod mode which i only started using since last 3 days.
