@NathanShantz i hung a shotgun shell 3 ft under it as a moving target. One bullet hit the metal casing on the shell and transfered momentum to the drone, causing it to flip upside down, tangling the wire that was holding the shell into 2 motors, and breaking an arm falling from around 3M. The motors kept spinning even upside down in the dirt...... Air blew and tested it with the broken arm and it still flies just fine, but I need to fix the broken arm. It's not completely broken off.

Thank you for this helpful guide. Id like to take off the arms and motors and send the camera body and electronics to 100K feet aboard a high altitude balloon. Will the done body still respond to commands and take, transmit and store video? Even after it goes out of range>? Thanks for your advice!
@NathanShantz Жыл бұрын
So the max height that a DJI drone can go to is 1640 feet (until it stops the motors). I'm not sure if it would stop recording or if anything else will shut off if it goes above a certain height. If you are going straight up you should be able to transmit the signal for a while but I don't think you could see it at 100k feet. It should keep recording unless dji stops that past the max height. What if you used a gopro or something like that?

Followed your instruction . Cool, but now my drone when taking off acts all crazy and crashes… I had an error initially because the wires were soldered too close I guess, so I re-soldered them and now no more power system error but when taking off it just goes crazy like it’s on full power.. strange.. not sure what to do… it’s a dji mini 2.
@NathanShantz Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear. I'm thinking maybe two of the wires are swapped and that motor is turning the wrong direction. This would cause your drone to fly crazy and not take off. Try to figure out if it's spinning opposite to the motors beside it

Hey bro, so I snapped the arm lock piece rite, I got a replacement but the arm won't lock back in place when folding out
@NathanShantz3 жыл бұрын
So the black piece with the 2 screws that holds the arm in has a spring in it. This spring only rotates from 0° (folded in) to like 150° (folded out). It actually has enough force to go to 180° but is physically locked at the 150°. This is how it locks. If take it out when it's folded out and put the spring back when it is folded in, it will not be able to lock in the out position. My guess is you took it out in one position and put it back in the other. Try putting it back in the other position or you can use some pliers and rotate the spring. Hope this helps!

@@AliKraftDesign yeah the Amazon one is mini 1. I believe the motors on the mini 2 are a bit better in performance but the same footprint.

There's nothing wrong with my Mini 2 at present but dammit, it would be fun to replace one of the front arms just for the hell of it, lol.

Lol you should do it!! Learn how to take it apart before you crash it. Then when you have to fix it, it will be easier😂

What soldering kit did you use?
@NathanShantz3 жыл бұрын
I just use a Weller one that you plug into the wall. I need to get a new kit. Weller is definitely one of the better brands to get. X-tronic and vastar are some other okay ones on Amazon you can get.

why would you have a loud music over your voice? would have helped to know screw sizes to avoid damages.
@NathanShantz2 жыл бұрын
sorry about the music, I believe the screw sizes are PH00

I got mine on amazon. this is the link for the one I got. amzn.to/2WTXDWY You can get them cheaper though on Amazon or ebay. Look up OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) with your search so you know its made for dji.

Soldering irons aren't that expensive. You can get a kit on Amazon that comes with everything you need. Good Luck! I believe you can do it!
