maybe the same but DJI has way more experience in the industry. obstacle avoidance system. probably higher range. lightbridge. better camera for cinematic shots. the only thing I like about GoPro now is removable gimbal

The gimbal is THE interesting feature on the Karma. We will have ample time to compare cameras but previous GoPros didn't offer poor recordings. Depending of your project everything could also be shot on the same camera with the Karma. On the other hand the Mavic is so portable and offers up to 7 times the range and longer flight time as you mentioned.

The Mavic is the size of a water bottle when folded up. Switch it on folded, use throttle hold to prevent motors from firing, and shoot your perfect stabilized 4K video to your heart's content. Who needs a removable handle & gimbal? The entire Mavic drone is a handle!

It doesnt. The video quality is worse then the Phantom 4, pretty much so, wich is a bit alarming. What you are seeing now is post production with colors etc... I would like to see raw fotage, not promo.

Don't be so quick to judge. the image quality from the Mavoc is half the quality to a P4,P3P or any GoPro. go watch Digital Revs comparison between the Mavoc and the P4. you will be blown away when you see a side by side image. At the end of the day it is all about the image. The Mavoc is Packed full of goodies but the image quality is going to kill that thing.

Double D the thing is, I bought Phantom 1, and 2. Both drones flew away and lost. Phantom 3 & 4 is perfect. It means, the 1st generation drones always have flaws. And I don't wanna fly $1100 stuff with uncertain GPS quality again. Remember.. Karma is the 1st generation of their drone.

I have a 4 as well and love that thing i just pre ordered the mavic as well. i saw one review that said the image quality out of the mavic isn't quite as good as the 4. This looks a tad on the soft side but as a vlogger being able to put this in a backpack is going to be awesome instead of luging around my big case with the 4 in it.... Of course if i can ill use the 4

Most of the guys on the Phantom Pilots forums with P2, P3 and P4 drones hand catch them out of the air. I always fly from the beach, rocks, on boats or other areas that wouldn't be ideal for landing. I bring the drone to a few feet from my position and at least a foot or two above my head. Then I walk over and grab the bottom of the landing gear while holding down the throttle to turn off the motors. I've literally done it 100's of times with my P2 and now P3. Super easy.

Phantom 4 camera is better when you crop in but that's like pixel peeping. Comparison is at the DigitalRevTV review. Fast forward to 8:36. Though Mavic is just so much more convenient given the tradeoff. BTW - awesome job Jon wiht the presentation and side note - love your car projects!

what does color correction have to do with "original quality"? if you can get this kind of footage with color correction that is all you need to know. if you have a drone or a camera capable of shooting quality video you should know what settings to use on the camera and how to color correct, otherwise you have no business owning it.

Finally great practical review with amazing footage. I watched a dozen reviews already and so many people bitching about it quality and compare it to Karma, Zen X3 and F4. Why? Different drones for different jobs. I travel solo to remote places and up until now I was unable to use a drone which requires a separate backpack. This one, the Mavic, is what I can take with me anywhere. And from what I see in this vid, it is great! Thanks for posting.

I'm a newcomer to this hobby. Been a photographer all my life. My brother asked that I use his Phantom 3 to shoot footage of his custom homes so I'm just learning drone flying. I almost pulled the trigger on a Phantom 4 yesterday. This looks like it would be worth the extra wait. Separate question: What software it everyone using to produce these videos? I use photoshop & Lightroom for my photography.
