I haven't yet seen any comparisons with Platinum using old blades - noise and duration.... Would be interesting to compare against MP with old and new props to see the ESC effect.

Also take in consideration that if you had the regular mavic for a while now the battery has already lost some of the capacity, even new batteries when they are sitting on the store shelf they degrade a little bit, and mavic platinum battery is completely new

I've been wondering which to get for a while now. After looking into it,I've just bought the regular pro flymore pack and an extra batt.so although I'm missing 3,6,9 mins with the 3 batts, I've got another 20 now. Oh,and the platinum blades on the pro do lower the noise lvl,so bought them too.

Would really like to see this test with the pro and pro platinum both with the noise noise props. If done at the same time like this, then done twice by swapping batteries to rule out battery capacity differences which isn't always accurate to what is reported by the BMS.

If I were a first time Mavic Pro buyer, I would buy the Platinum. But, since i have the original Mavic Pro, three more minutes of flight time is not very significant, considering that I almost always bring it back at 30% battery. Thus, I will wait for the Mavic Pro 2.

Another fine video, professionally done with as close to real world as possible for testing. I'm wondering if the Platinum Low-Noise Props are a good idea for the Mavic Pro, since they were not designed for those ESCs. I'm a little leery of putting anything on a DJI drone that wasn't originally designed for it.

Thanks for all of your great videos. I am a senior at 63 yrs old and just purchased a Mavic Pro - Fly More combo. This is my first drone, so I bought a toy model to acclamate to flying. Can't wait to get the Mavic up but I am being super patient at learning the sport and the software for the Mavic. I am thinking of adding the new blades eventually. I think that, along with the constant firmware upgrades will certainly improve the flight time and performamce of the Pro. Who knows, maybe this Grandpop will be a candidate for a Phantom 4 Pro in a few years. Or maybe a DJI space quad.....😁😎😁

Hovering, especially in windy conditions consumes the more power than cruising flight. I'm sure that the advertising about the longer flight time by DJI was in ideal conditions (i.e. no wind, cruising flight, low altitude). I think the new 3 axis gimbal, upgraded software and more efficient ESC's are worth waiting for if your in the market now. I agree if you already have a PRO, it's not enough improvement to make you want to buy a platinum. This was an informative video and a good test. Thank you

Great video as always! I just recently purchased my Mavic Pro (Fly More Kit) knowing the Platinum version was just weeks away from being released. Although I do have a private pilot fixed wing license and love photography, I am a newbie to the really fascinating and exciting world of flying drones with amazing photographic capabilities. Cost was not a factor in my decision to purchase the Mavic Pro over the Platinum version. Besides being a little impatient due to wanting to capture some Fall colors here in Ohio, I was concerned about possible "technology glitches" (new ESC) that the new Platinum version may or may not have in the short term. Regardless, both versions of this drone seem amazing and are supported by a great company (DJI). You indicated that you started the Mavic Pro "Original" with 98% battery while you started the Mavic Pro Platinum with 99% battery. Also, the number of cycles were slightly different for each battery. It would have been interesting to see the flight time difference if both batteries were 100% and exchanged between each other considering they are compatible with each other. (i.e. Mavic Pro Original battery on Platinum and Mavic Pro Platinum battery on Mavic Pro original. Exchanging the propellors between each platform at the same time would also provide for an interesting comparison in flight times. (BTW, really enjoyed your sound comparison video with the new Mavic Platinum propellors). Given that the new Mavic Platinum Pro propellors are 4 DB quieter, they also may be adding the overall battery efficiency (flight time) of the drone through less wind resistance while providing equal lift capabilities. Rotating propellors are really not that much different in terms of physics when compared to fixed winged aircraft. If this is the case, original Mavic Pro owners may benefit to some degree simply by using the newly designed Mavic Pro Platinum propellors. For us "newbies", choosing either version of the Mavic Pro is or will be an exhilarating experience. There are soooo... many things to learn about the drone in the beginning that worrying about 3 minutes extra flight time is relatively inconsequential IMHO. As a newbie.....I am still very conservative on my flight times and normally return well before 15%. An experienced drone pilot and photographer may find more value in the extra flight time in critical shots. For beginner drone/photography enthusiasts, I highly recommend concentrating on the flying aspects/skills/safety of your drone first. Forget about the photography/video settings until you really feel you can fly your drone in a safe and controlled manner in all conditions....even in ATTI mode.

dangnabitable the mavic platinum has A.C. motors which has less moving parts the D.C. motor that the mavic pro uses has gears instead of one shaft like the platinum. Takes less energy to move increasing time.

The difference seems to be caused by your old Mavic battery wear. New batteries get 22/23ish minutes of flight.
@FlytPath7 жыл бұрын
satikass I wouldn’t really call 4 cycles an old battery.
@satikass7 жыл бұрын
Ok, thats weird. My battery with 20-30 cycles gives 22-23 minutes. Something is off. E: Old Mavic ofc.
@kniefi6 жыл бұрын
satikass look how windy it is at test location in the video. If both mavics have to fight the wind constantly, it could easily mean 2 - 4min less flying time. If one would want to find out real maximum hover-time, one would have to do it indoors. In a gymnasium for example.

Well we actually are waiting for a 1080p 60fps comparison. Who cares about 3 mins of Flight time when we have 2-3 batteries...
@boenkyo7 жыл бұрын
Think about it, if you have 3 batteries that's 9 minutes of added flight time compared to the standard Mavic. Almost half a battery!
@SunriseSearcher7 жыл бұрын
びれもこ Think about it. With the extra 100$ the Platinum costs...you get a full battery which is 10 times the 3 minutes you get with the Platinum. So again, who cares about the 3 minutes...the real deal is 1080p 60fps.
@boenkyo7 жыл бұрын
Of course you can buy another battery, but that's not the point. The point is that 3 minutes is more than you think. And you should care, since an added 3 minutes means that DJI are getting better and that future products will continue to improve.
@SunriseSearcher7 жыл бұрын
びれもこ Excuse me sir but your argument was buying 3 batteries and getting half the flight time. My argument is with buying just one... I am sorry I cannot continue this conversation. Its too low quality for me.
@boenkyo7 жыл бұрын
You would need 4 batteries for the standard Mavic to get a better flight time than a Platinum with 3 batteries, so not just 1 like you were saying. And getting half the flight time with 3 batteries??? How does that make sense? xD But yeah, I understand now why this conversation is "too low quality". Maybe you should upgrade it to 1080p 60fps? I bet the quality will blow you away xD
