Ugh - learned the hard way - took mine abit away from me and was at about 30 m and suddenly the wind picked up - was originally around 10 kph but then started gusting 20-25 - then I get a message from it saying it has insufficient power to return, due to high winds... something like that... then it loses contact and goes into RTH mode... thus going UP to 100 m and even higher winds. I had to run out to an open field and cancel RTH and get it to suddenly drop ... intermittently losing contact. It kept going down but luckily the downward sensors stopped it from going into the trees. Then I got it just above the trees and when it connected put it into sport mode and rushed it back closer into a better connection! Yup - sweated a bit there but learned alot!!

I've had mine for a couple of months now and whilst learning I've had it permanently set in Cine mode. Or at least I thought I had! I've recently realised that even with the mode switch set at C when off, on powering up, the screen is showing it's in Normal mode. Only selecting back to N then C does the screen tell me it's in C mode. It's the same with S mode. The switch might be in S when off but when the RC is powered up it shows it's in N mode.

I went to Mallorca and Menorca for Christmas because of you and had a blast!! Unfortunately, crashed my drone into a cliff… hiked up and got close enough to see it and hear the beeping, but it was stuck in a bush and was in a gorge that would’ve been a death wish to go into. I had to leave it behind. Sooo sad!! Luckily I had JUST backed up all of my footage from the rest of the trip the night before!

Would’ve cried if I lost the whole trip’s worth😅 But I lost it at Cala Macarelleta in Menorca doing an orbit of my girlfriend and me on the beach. Really loved the islands though. They were absolutely gorgeous!! Honestly planned that trip because of your initial Mini 3 Pro vids, so thanks!! My girlfriend‘s first time out of the US and it was a great experience!

Got my Mini 3 Pro last week and something alot of people dont talk about is your ability to even video edit 4k/60 and/or 4k/30. You need a very powerful computer with a good graphics card in order to edit these large files. I own a 2014 Macbook Pro with 8gb of RAM and was NOT able to even utilize the 4k/60 and 4k/30 to edit.

Great video again Darren! really is getting my beginner knowledge up whilst I wait for decent "Good to Fly" weather to coincide with me actually not working! have purchased the cheat sheets as I have had so much knowledge go into my head actually remembering it is a challenge! Also got round to finally purchasing the LUTs of which I know I asked a question on another video where you confirmed LUTs would work with Filmora, my question is I have access to s discounted rate for adobe creative cloud of about £8 a month through work. My question is should I stick with Filmora whilst I learn or jump to Premiere Pro (I am a pretty fast learner tbh) whilst this will obviously also get me access to light room as I currently have no photo editing software? Advice would be appreciated as I know I could also try Davinci but this does not sort the photo editing issue!

However...Dji seem to have worded all different again. 🤔 so looking for pitch speed,pitch smoothness. Yaw rotation speed,yaw smoothness . There is a whole load of other stuff there now that I'm not sure what to do with.😮

So now with a DJI camera drone I want to test the video with different ND filters. Which filter to use in what conditions are still a mystery to me.....and many others.

Your videos are comprehensive; I feel you're the guy to ask. I recently bought the Mini 3 Pro here in New Zealand. I'm spending a month in the US; 8-day roadtrip from Vegas seeing the big National Parks (Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion, Yellowstone and at the end of the trip Yosemite). I know you can't fly in any US National Park, so it's likely not get used. Then I'm jumping to New Orleans, Washington DC, New York City. Again, not likely to be doing much if any flying. Then, however, I have 8 days in Fairbanks, where I think it would be great flying, before doing a cruise (no drones allowed). Do you think it's worth taking the drone for a month just for probably a week's flying, especially since I'm a total drone novice and taking one carry-on bag only, total luggage? And almost as a side question, does putting a skin on the drone now make it have to be registered? I know I could get some great footage (I've bought all the filters you recommended etc), but I could also just as easily not. Your advice would very much be appreciated. Cheers in advance.

I’d still take it! You might see something else good in the area, skins would only do that if they are heavy and put it over 250g.

Thank you for the video. In the video you mentioned filming at 60 FPS if you want to slow the footage down. I normally use 30 FPS. What frame rate should I use if later I decide to speed the footage up? Example: you're flying in a large orbit around a subject, and the circle takes 3 mins. Later in process you ramp up to speed to 300%. Would increasing from 30 to 60 FPS help in this situation too? Thank you.

Best thing to do would be to use the hyperlapse function. Either use the circle function to automatically go around a target or do it freely yourself (very difficult).

Hey I use speed ramping in all my cinematic footage, check out the mavic 3 classic cinematic video, all of that was in 5k25, for speed ramping fast it’s fine at a lower frame rate. If you want to speed ramp slow or slow down then shoot in a high frame rate

Are you aware now standart for tv is 60hz? Or you are still using CRT TV? You can't divide 60 by 24 or 25.

And the 4k debate continues.. Does the average beginner video drone person really need 4k? I love 1080p.. on my 55" QLED TV it is amazing and the file size renders very quickly. 4K for commercial use.. absolutely. If you have the money, means & equipment.. sure. I agree the DJI 1/1.3 camera is really good... even in 1080p you can tell the difference from other Mini models.

So in the simplest form think of it like a filter or a photo preset but for video. Each lut changes the look of the clip just like a photo preset does.
