The gap and improvement from mini 3 pro to 4 pro is not astronomical yes. But their price difference is only about $50. And if its your first drone like myself i would go for mini 4 pro. Trust me when doing tracking, the obstacle Avoidance will save your drone especially if youre a begginer

Yeah! But I prefer the D-Cinelike compared to D-log M from mini 4 pro. The D-Cinelike looks more cinematic and dreamy than D-Log M. Which makes me doubt which one is to buy. Since, I really like the 360 obstacle avoidance from mini 4 pro, especially it is my first time having a drone lol.

I've had great luck with the obstacle avoidance on my Mini 4 Pro. One day I was biking in my neighborhood, having the drone track me from behind, and I made a right turn, forcing the drone to make a wide right to keep up with me, only to be faced with a big leafy tree. To my amazement, the drone didn't slow down but picked out a single path THROUGH the leaves and branches on a downward angle and came out on the other side like nothing had happened, still tracking me.

Pheww that’s a tough question to answer. That’s a cracking deal on the mini 3 pro. Most people should go for that. But as I said in the video, if you have a background in photography etc. you really have an eye for the slight extra quality then the Mini 4 pro

@@Ian.A.Anderson around 5 or 6, one bad one but all my fault (DJI care refresh was amazing and got my drone back within 3 days). was learning to fly manual/acro but cracked it now, not an expert by any means but can fly with confidence and do tricks etc. Also flying in manual helps my basic skills no end!

I would say get the Avata 2, that and mini 4 pro are a perfect combo. Different beasts for different situations. The motion controller is awesome but I got the RC3 for more control. Still use the motion 3 though, again depends on what I am shooting. Also flying in normal/sport mode with the RC3 is fantastic then you can also go full manual which again brings a whole other dimension of flying.

Great review, many thanks or taking the time to produce this. From my own experience the Mini 4 is well worth it. I have come from a Mini 2, bought just before the 3 came out. The controller makes life so much easier to just get out and film and the footage is better. Fingers crossed for a sub250g future in the UK.

Just in reference to your query regarding electrical wires. My 4 pro picks up the washing line in my garden when I launch. How I came to be “Into drones” can only be described as crazy or daft. So I have no real substance, behind my opinion, but I’m so impressed with the tech and performance. I know there will be a new mini soon, but I’m lost to think what major upgrades can come haha. The battery life is great really, there’s a limit to what time you can get out of a battery for an item that’s so limited by weight. So it’s a trade off between weight function flight time and structural integrity. It’s a very impressive piece of kit. Awesome video, loved it.

Authorisation to fly is something I came across earlier this year in Lossiemouth and using my tablet and old controller got permission etc. How does this work with the new rc2 controller with no sim card etc? Hi Scout, I pair it the my phones hotspot to use Wi-Fi. You still need your mobile phone for the DJI text sometimes. On my Night Mode video there’s an additional tip about this process

Love your videos my friend also from the uk i have the mini 3 pro and all the videos on my KZbin channel where taken with her but i wanted an upgrade and now have the mini 4 pro for me its a game changer big time with the mini 3 pro i wasn't even really getting a mile but thats because i normally take of from my garden flick her into sports mode get to where a want to shoot take the shot back into sports mode and back home again as for your night mode video loved it and on my first flight with the mini 4 pro that was his first flight wasn't that impressed with it but it was a night as in about 9 o'clock at night in the uk this time of the year i have a question for you maybe a KZbin video for you the night mode if i go into night mode and set the settings i want for night mode then come back out of night mode will the mini 4 pro remember the settings so when am back out some night to catch the clouds over my town witch did look really cool will the drone remember the setting i had it set to Or will i have to charge them again my friend

I still use a mini 2 and have never understood why dji does not provide goggle and controller cross-compatibility will all their similar UAVs. They could make a lot more money on accessory purchases that way and as an electrical & software engineer, I know it can be done. Some say goggle support makes no sense for a non-racing UAV but I disagree, it makes flying a lot more fun.

Mini 4 could be a really big seller. The Mini 3 Pro when released had heaps of software glitches, some of which still remain. If the wrinkles have all been ironed out and the Mini 4 features all work properly.... it'll be well worth getting. Re trade-in, MPB (and other camera gear vendors) will buy drones into stock which makes the selling process much easier and hassle free compared to that auction site. My Mini 3 Pro went to MPB recently, might be tempted by the Mini 4, we shall see. I think of the Mini 3 Pro as being the Beta test rig for the Mini 4 If I'd known you were in Arbroath area I could've popped down with some domed M2 nuts. I'm just up the coast from there. Although thinking about it, the big advantage of nuts, i.e. easier to hold a fixed control input is perhaps rendered redundant by the implementation of Cruise Control.... (if it works) Hot tip for RC / RC2, edit your phone hotspot to have the exact same name and password as your home WiFi, then the RC / RC2 will connect to it automagically when on location. Anyway, cracking video and some lovely footage. 👍

Yes you’re right about the personal hotspot on the phone. This evening in Manchester I was doing that. Although each time I switched my RC on I had to go through the whole WiFi connection process sign up again. Possibly a bug. Surely not with DJI. But I’ll update my description about that. I’ll look into MPB, do you get roughly the same that you would on eBay?

Looking at “Sold Listings” the price I got from MPB worked out roughly the same as that auction site by the time you factor in their (extortionate) seller fees and postage costs.

I tend to use my Lowpro camera rucksack for both my drones that I used to use for my Canon D50, unless I want to be more discreet, then a small rucksack for one drone is used . If i’m going somewhere dodgy, my wife insists I take a second person along. Like when Recently I was at Bidston hill to film the old windmill and Observatory , (there used to be rows of flags on the hill for shipping into the River Mersey) , and Flaybrick Hill Cemetary ( Wirral), apparently it has a reputation of mugging. I have mostly finished filming the Wirral coast by drone. Sorry for long reply..

Great informative content and entertaining at the same time. I like the trade-in idea as I would trade in my Mini 3 Pro for the Mini 4 Pro. As it is, I will be content with my Mini 2, Mini 3 Pro, and the Air 3. Using the firmware update or waypoints as a pickup technique is a great idea. I can’t tell you how much my wife of 49 years gets all excited every time I fire up one of the drones to do an update. She can hardly keep her hands away. And when we are out for a walk and I put the Air 3 up to do way points--oh, I can’t describe what happens and stay within community guidelines. Cheers from Wisconsin, U.S.A.😊

I now have 10 drones and way TOO MANY remote controls ... I am crazy about the RC PRO (at 73yrs old, the 1000 NIT display is a God send) I love my Mavic 3 & Mavic 3 Classic & I would love to buy the Mavic 3 PRO but ... the thought of having to pay ($300 usd) for another RC stops my purchase cold in it's tracks ! If DJI would sell the Mavic 3 PRO as a standalone, like they did with the Classic, then for me, it would be game on .... BUT, until that happens, the Mavic 3 PRO is a pipe dream !

I’m onto my 5th drone. Every single one is ‘this is the last one’. I never used to understand the RC fascination. But I have named my RC 2

Obstacle avoidance is good enough for more solid things that you want to get close to like rocks and walls, and low light is very good too even in caves, in fact it is better than Gopro 12 or Action 4 so could just hold Mini 4 pro in hand when cave exploring and the HDR a much-needed thing. In fact, if they were not so greedy for making money, they could have made them cameras and gimbals changeable so you can just unplug and plug them onto a powered stick or even put on a separate universal drone that allows for cameras to be swapped, an overall more modular design approach is what they could do with, that covers aircraft electronic modules too. Mavic 3 being prime example why have to buy 3 copies of the drone when all you want to do is change the camera/gimbal it’s carrying. Hmm, if they were not so secretive about details and schematics would be easier to do a MacGyver job with their parts.

@@flyboy5736Ian’s actually one of the very few who don’t shill and gives a non biased review/opinion with what is actually expensive bits of kit. To be honest and help someone who isn’t ideally clued up on this stuff is actually essential to potentially save someone money by pre warning them about something such as the obstacle avoidance, thus saving someone who may of saved up for a while to get this bit of kit only to listen to shills and learn the hard way. So, like myself we will always have an honest opinion and won’t be swayed otherwise. And Ian’s content is brilliant so I’m glad you’ve enjoyed watching his great work

In 2 years you will still be allowed to fly your sub 250g drone with no drama what will change is that geo fencing around sensitive areas (airports military and police stations)will get a lot better rightly so to stop those idiot auditor creeps that post stupid videos and the drone itself will most likely be given an ID by DJI to comply with upcoming rules … the way you stated you can’t simply use it in 2 years isn’t really correct. The new rules will be in place won’t hinder people using drones correctly just to confirm
