With the cheaper Potensic ATOM being released with all of the features like tracking. I feel DJI will have to update the firmware to include these features to stay competitive.

The new Potensic Atom LT is a Atom se with a larger battery... but the rest of the specs stay exaclty the same. No 4K but 2.7K max and no 3-axis but 2 with EIS. Potensic has a very good support and the Atom 3-axis is very cheap and on the same level as the DJI mini 2. But .. the new Atom LT is not a good developement in updates... i think its the last one we will see from Potensic.

If you are thinking of buying your first drone. Please, just buy the DJI Mini 4k. I bought one. I work for the government, so I get to use a government issued Mavic 2 Pro. Most times the photos on my personal Mini 4k looks just as good or even better. Don't bother thinking. Just buy this drone. You will be so impressed, it will take a a while to wonder why it is so affordable. I've had it for a month. I'm still blown away.

I actually picked up the Specta Mini a month or so ago when they first came out. It's a nearly identical clone of the Mini 4K so I can relate to some of this. I actually use an android phone and I have no issues using the transmitter (which is basically the same thing without the "DJI" logo) and actually really find it useful. I love the footage I've been able to capture. I recently flew mine thru the length of a metal girder bridge across the Erie Canal which was nerve-wracking (I actually tried, chickened out and went back a second time in the same video and made it. These are really rock-solid birds. I HAVE learned however when flying over water it is strongly advised to fly at least 15 yards above the water. That MAY be a requirement more for downward facing sensors as opposed to GPS guided, but I'm not risking my bird over a few yards. Very nice video, thank you for sharing.

Nice video. It's basically a MIni 2 in a Mini SE body. Great move by DJI. The iPhone overheating thing is real, but my Samsung never overheats and I live in Panama! You can move your phone so it doesn't touch any buttons, and you can purchase a holder that will allow you to use a large tablet with a much brighter screen as well. As far as beginner drones go, I feel that learning to fly without obstacle avoidance will make you a much better pilot for when you upgrade in the future. If all beginner drones had obstacle avoidance, in my opinion, would make burgeoning pilots lazy and not really learn how to fly in manual mode with just the sticks and you, between crashing or not.

I'm not convinced that it a problem not having censors my first drone was the dji phantom 3 adv I even upgraded the antennas to go up to 7 miles from 3.2miles very easy to fly without problem i have dji mini 4k on its way i can't wait to see what the difference is between it and phantom 3 adv

If you haven't still bought the neo... DON'T DO IT. First, if you look this week the mini 4K is even cheaper than the Neo with controller. Quality of video and photo is 100 times better in the mini, also battery duration. Only go for the neo if you want to have some cool videos for social media and record them without the controller, only with your phone and auto follow or some presets like that

I like the controller. I just have my old Samsung S21 Ultra permanently installed. Screen is bigger, higher res, and considerably brighter than the model with the built in screen, also has never overheated on me 😅

After watching this video and well after making my initial comment, I did purchase this same drone and can confirm the connection cable is absolutely long enough to accommodate flipping the phone the other way so the controller isn’t depressing the button that locks the screen. It’s how I use it each flight.

Ok so I have a decision to make I was currently saving up for the Holy stone HS360E because I really liked it and I loved the features and just everything about especially the return to home button, but people were saying it’s bad But then I saw and thought about. Getting the CJI Mini 4K. But I don’t know which one is better overall because I don’t really know I had a random drone I saw on Amazon/Idea16p 1080p drone but it was kinda bad with not that many Features but when I was flying it the next day I when to high and it when towards spikes trees and was in there for more than 6 hours we been looking for it then we found it BUT THE WHOLE POINT Is I do know and have little expirence in droning with mini drones and like 1 big one without a cam. But which one over all would be better ??? (Btw I got idea16p drone for Xmas and 2 of the things broke on it so I’m getting the idea 16p drone tomorrow. Because Amazon sending new one ….)

i had a Mini 2 which i have really enjoyed, ended up destroying it and became really sad. but i saved up and just bought the mini 4k. Love it, same body as the Mini 2, only diference i noticed so far is the rc controller is slightly lighter to the mini 2 one and slightly bigger by a small amount. and the Mini 2 had a front Led light. and i noticed i liked the front led. eitherway its a good drone for starting out or if you enjoy flying and you are a risky flyer like me, hense why i havent upgraded as il break it lol.

I took it right out of the box and flew it right through the house and it’s my first drone. I think it’s extremely easy to fly. Now the camera settings can be a little tricky and take a little time to understand. I think for what I paid for it, It’s awesome. Doesn’t get the best shots at night time. But for the money, you cannot beat it.

@ I’m a Firefighter. Two Christmases ago we had to pluck a drone out of a tree 80’ up for a very distraught 8 year old. I would not recommend this as a kids first drone. Unless you buy the rotor cage for it.

I prefer the size of the Mini 4k compared to the pro Mini models more compact arms and props are shorter can handle a crash better I feel what's missing is the screen controller come on DJI add this drone to your screen controller alot of people are wanting this for their Mini 2 2se and the Mini 4k you can do it and Thanks for your video !

Thanks for the video... Nice to get a Pro's opinion on the first drone I've bought (might upgrade if I get really bitten by the bug). Regards your dislike of the remote. I've not used any other controller so can't comment too much except to say a/ if it's made the package more affordable for a first timer like me then I'm happy with that and b/ I've had no problems with my pixel phone overheating (UK based so maybe just not that hot) or activating any buttons on the phone. Maybe it's more of an iPhone problem than controller. Thanks again for confirming the drone and image quality should be good enough for me to get a taste of the hobby! Andrew

DJI mini 4K: available locally therefore easier with aftersales issues. Very high camera standards. Reliable. Fimi mini 3: 4K @ 60fps. More autonomous features like active tracking. Great picture quality. But: with issues with the Fimi you're practically f'd. Aftersales is pretty bad I read. It's also less reliable. Decisions decisions 🤯

I agree & don't really agree. If you are a "beginner", most wouldn't fly t00 close to anything that could cause them to lose their 299! $$$. Well, unless they're just nuts. I think your review is fair for the most part. Taking in consideration affordability; which perhaps is what most people need today. Using the cell phone as a monitor isn't the best, I agree on that as well. BUT the +++s maybe are crazy good photos and video.

Excellent video, just gotta disagree that beginners should get more expensive models with obstacle avoidance. Even WITH obstacle avoidance, beginners WILL crash/destroy their first drone(s). If you're going to destroy you first drone, destroy $300...not $1K+. Also, like learning to drive, you don't learn by using cruise control. The lack of obstacle avoidance will teach new flyers to respect the aircraft and its surroundings. If they can master a drone without a safety net, THEN they can better pilot a drone WITH obstacle avoidance...because they'll know better than yeet it into dangerous scenarios. Just my 2 cents! ❤

I was very disappointed to discover only after using the mini 4k that the cruise control and waypoint flight mode were taken away, both very simple to implement via software on the equipment, which even though it is the entry-level one has the same platform as the mini 2 which has these functions and also the transfer via wifi. I hope that DJI admits the mistake and soon puts these functions in its application for the mini 4k.
