Thanks for the video, very enjoyable. I've just had DHL deliver my Neo from DJI, I'm looking forward to flying it on the one day in the year when it's not windy in N. Ireland, (I'll probably be in work that day). Anyway, I put the batteries on charge using a 65w adaptor and just when you were saying in your video how quickly the batteries charge, I looked around and full green lights across the board, I didn’t even seem like an hour! I’m used to waiting for the mini 4 pro or the Potensic Atom to charge up, but this is super quick. Thanks for the content, I'm really enjoying your channel.

Hey you're welcome Peter! And yeh - have a go with the Neo. It might be a bit tricky, but you should be able to get the odd good clip - others have said this already but dropping the sharpness of the video by 2 apparently helps with the video quality. If you''ve got the dosh though I would probably recommend either the Mini 3 or Mini 4 pro for better video quality. But if you do get the Neo the one thing I can guarantee is that you'll have fun! Oh - there are plenty of honest ones out there, and now that I've allowed myself to watch some of the others, (I limit myself before make the vid to try to maintain objectivity - yes - I'm THAT professional! 😂) I've seen some very good ones as well. ​@amoktimeflies just a quick one buddy. Is the screwdriver you mentioned definitely the right one for the neo and mini 4 Pro ?,as I always see and hear about different sizes in forums etc for example Dji recommend a PH0 screwdriver but the one you mentioned is a PH000 🤔 Thanks in advance 🤜🤛

Well I just double checked my PH000 with it and it fits very well so yes definitely ph000. It’s unlikely that they’d be using bigger screws in the Neo vs the Mini3/4 as well. Sorry for the late reply!🖖

I've had many quadcopters over the years, even including the DJI Inspire, but I suspect that my newly arrived Neo may well be getting used more than any of them because of its no-faff instant fly-vlog-ability. It's terrific. I've used an RC2 to reduce the sharpness and noise reduction and that has given me really nice video on well lit scenes.. Liked and subscribed - I really admire your delivery. Nice one! 😁

Yeh it's not fantastic video, but making content with it and having it limited to a standard colour profile, does force you to think about the lighting a bit more as there's no D-log to save the day in the edit! In € you save €2 by not taking the rc-n3. I took the fly more to have a spare controller for my girlfriend to fly when I fly my mini 4 pro. She is affraid of flying the mini but loves flying the neo

Good advice re buying just the drone and couple of batteries. I bought just the Neo plus 2 extra batteries and the charger which is £268 (I have the RCN2 controller so will use that). The Fly More Combo is £299 so a saving of £31, almost an extra battery.

Thankyou so much for your kind words and thankyou for watching. Sorry to disappoint you here, but unlikely it will - the manual says that it only follows people. Even the mini 4 pro has difficulty with dogs I think.... and getting drones to follow drones via automated tracking just doesn't seem to work to any successful degree - they do it for a few seconds and then lose the track. Tracking the Avata 2 would be very unlikely as it's so much faster than the Neo. I really appreciate the creative way you think though - perhaps the compromise would be to do it using a controller (although all the dogs I've come across with my Neo just want to jump up and catch it so be careful! 🤣) Best of luck!🖖

I'm a little disappointed that the camera quality isn't a little better. I'd gladly pay a little more $$ for a better image. That said, it seems good enough for now. Be on the lookout for the Neo Pro in 8-12 months. Unfortunately, this will probably be one of the last DJI drones we Americans are going to be able to purchase due to bought and paid for politicians, so we probably won't get to see a 'pro' version. I pre-ordered my Neo, but we won't be able to get them in the US until the beginning of October. 😢 As usual, great review and video!

I ordered a Neo, mostly due to being a cheap toy to use in risky situations to save my more expensive drones while waiting for the Neo 2 and 3 which I hope will have a better camera and a couple more sensors and more power. There are a lot of videos I watch to learn something not to really enjoy. And just a few that I enjoy but learn nothing and later I feel like I wasted my time.

If I wanted to use a Neo to film snowboarding with the follow mode on, and the drone lost track of me mid-ride, only for me to realize it when it's already tens of meters uphill, how could I regain control? Would it be possible to do so with a phone or controller without having to hike back up the slope?

I *think* it would just land itself and to make it take off again with just your phone you would have to be in wifi range of it which depending on your phone and environment could be anything between about 20 and 50 meters. Also do bear in mind it's maximum speed... Good idea for a test though! Thankyou!🖖

The more KZbin’s I watch about this little screaming box of tricks, the more I’m liking it. May I ask you a bit more about the Real World experiences of the batteries? With my Mini 4 Pro, the specs say 30 minutes play time. But in the real world the drone says stuff that and automatically returns home after 20 minutes. This obviously leaves a little wiggle room in the battery that only an idiot would ignore to get your fly-away toy back in one piece. Question time, with this iccle Neo, do you actually get 18 minutes playtime or does the drone nag you to come home sooner to ensure that there is enough fuel left in the tank to get home again safely? BTW bravo on the editing. Your episodes are getting way more slick and polished. 😊

Thanks Frank & nice to hear from you! I've yet to really push the battery, but I suspect it will use the same margin of error as the other drones - all done by algorithm and clever maffs. So I would expect it to return/land in the same proportion of time depending on how far away it is. (and you've given me a good idea for some more content - thanks!) As far as the editing goes - this one was about 3 days in the edit. Once I've got all my footage loaded up I kindof say to myself 'RIGHT! let's polish this t*urd!' and go from there🤣 It's nice when people acknowledge the amount of work that goes into it - thankyou! @@amoktimeflies it’s puzzling to why they don’t offer it. I really wish I knew the reason why. I will say I have had my avata 2 for 4 days now and have been flying it every day. I really like it much better then the avata 1 that I have had for awhile. I’m flying it with my goggles and controller 2. I wish dji would update the Neo to work with the 2 equipment, I know it’s capable.

Hmmm... Interesting - possibly a limitation of the Goggles 2 and controller 2 hardware, but seems odd that they can still fly the Avata 2. (I don't get much opportunity to fly FPV 'cos I have no friends to use as spotters 😂😂) 🖖

Here in Brazil regulations over the DJI mini 2 3 4 are the same of a Matrice 30 but for NEO is Open Category... just common sense there is no need to fligth registration licences or whereaver it is great

Interesting question and of course - I was testing the VLOS and whether you could hear it at that altitude when I did that so went up to the max permitted height of 120m. Wouldn't normally fly that high though as there's very little difference in the footage you get between about 50 and 120m. That said - for flights from my back garden with my Mini 3 and 4 pros I do normally go to about 100m just so the noise of the drone doesn't annoy my neighbours - especially when doing night flights. Erm.... well I don't know your personal circumstances, but in my own opinion then probably yeh... Although in the vid I seem quite annoyed by the fact that I could have used my existing controllers, in hindsight the cost of the RC-N3 on it's own means that you're literally only pay a couple of £ extra rather than just getting the extra 2 batteries and the battery hub, so useful if you want a spare or more portable controller. All is not lost though! You have 14 days to return to DJI if you do change your mind... I know that's probably not what you wanted to hear.... sorry... Now what WILL annoy me is if they don't offer the Air 3s as a standalone, because then I'm going to end up with two RC-N3s! FML 🤣 Hope you get it sorted anyway - you'll still have fun whatever 😊🖖

Not sure about the mini 2 battery pack as I don’t own one. It’s an interesting question about the controller charging the battery though. I’m 99% sure it wouldn’t as even though data is bidirectional I’m pretty sure power isn’t but I will do a test to find out… thanks for the question…🖖

Just checked and surprisingly the RC2 does seem to charge when connected with the USB-C. However the RC-N3 does not… interesting to find out though. I suspect the RC-N3 purposefully doesn’t have that functionality because it dropped a battery vs the RC-N2 I think. I don’t have an RC-N2 so can’t check with that unfortunately. Cheers!🖖

I've only tried apple phones - my daily iPhone 13 pro and an old iPhone 8 both connect. Not that knowledgeable about android, but I think they have a bunch of security permission hoops that you have to jump through before you can use most apps, so might be worth checking the app permissions in your settings. I know DJI Fly defo works with android though as there are many pilots that use dedicated android monitors for their screens. Best of luck and let us know how you get on! 🖖

Every explanation I see for Direction Track says if follows you in front. It does do this but when I was out testing mine today I actually had it tracking from the side so it was following parallel to the direction I was walking.

It didn’t fly off anywhere so I just walked up to it and stuck my hand underneath to get it to land. It’s like a very well behaved puppy - only if you leave it alone for too long it does tend to throw a tantrum (did a battery test in my studio and tried to leave quickly and it REALLY didn’t like it 🤣). 🖖

I did a bit more testing and found if I hold it out to my side and turn my head to look at it then start it it hover by my side and I can then just walk forward and it follows parallel. No need to keep looking at it while walking. I did the same thing while cycling although if you go too fast it eventually goes behind. With Direction Tracking you just stop for 3 seconds and it will fly towards you and hover about an arms length away so you can hold out your hand and it lands.

PH000 works for me and there are a couple of other KZbinrs that use it as well (believe me I’ve had my fair share of prop changes 🤣🤣🤣) You can see it in use in my vid about prop changes and I double checked it on my Neo. So I have the iphone smart app on my phone and the neo I run the dji fly app and it asks if I want to join network DJI NE bc80" I say yes and I'm connected to the NEO . Then the app tells me to activate and when I say ok, it tells me I have no wifi connection. It's disconnecting the bluetooth connection from the neo when i switch over to wifi network. When i change my settings on my phone to connect to wifi then the dji app says I'm no longer connected to neo and an aircraft connection is needed to active, HELP. thanks (ps...I dont have a data cell plan..just wifi)

Ah - OK - I did have a little hiccup with connecting my DJI fly app as well, but then just realised I needed to update the app from the app store - have you tried that? I used an iphone 8 with no sim in it and that worked ok, as long as I was connected to my home wifi for the activation🖖

I've got the most recent version of the app. The problem really is that the app connects to the neo as a wifi connection...and also in bluetooth it's connected..but when i'm told to activate it needs my home network and then disconnects the neo from the app in order to connect to the home wifi. it's CRAZY and i'm 2 mins from returning it. thx

Nono! Don't return it - we'll get this sorted! Have you tried hitting 'no' when prompted to join the Neo's wifi? That way you are still connected to the aircraft via bluetooth and the internet via your home wifi.

OK switch the Neo off, fully close the app, check the bluetooth settings in your phone and if the DJI Neo is there then click on the 'i' and select 'forget device'. Also in settings scroll down to find the app - click on it and make sure that Bluetooth is set to on in 'Allow DJI Fly to Access' In fact just switch everything on in there for the moment! Then give it another bash... good luck! We'll get there!🖖

Hi, interesting review, but a lot of people say it's just £169.00 but you really need the controller so it's £300 really as you are quite limited without it,most people buying it will be their first drone .

Yep - Bare bones £169 and you can start off from that point and do just about everything you can do from a controller (but I wouldn't recommend it!) I think it's quite clever marketing on DJI's part - someone gets the drone on it's own and then after using it wants to get the controller - so DJI then have them in the 'ecosystem'. But yeh I agree - Fly More Combo is definitely the way to go to start off in my opinion. Still WAY less dosh than any of the later Minis though! Thanks for watching and the interesting comment!🖖

Thanks, I enjoyed your video. I bought one of these and quickly sent it back. The noise cancelled audio is unusable and it doesn’t cope with a light breeze. The direction track doesn’t work unless you are walking at about 2 mph towards it. I don’t like the video quality at all. This might be ok for a child to play with in the back garden or in the living room but not much else.

Yeh - gotta remember this was basically straight out of the box settings. Whilst you can't change any of the video settings from the DJI Phone App (yet!) you can change white balance, EV, shutter speed, sharpness and noise reduction using the controller - I just hadn't done that properly yet... 🖖

yep still have to register it...but your current registered drones will included the neo..watched and influencer...hate that word... yesterday on youtube..utter brain dead, flying it around people,over cars,over a road...i did leave a comment...it got removed very fast...i might get one at a later date, but have a dji spark which i rarely use..

Having only got into drones relatively recently I've never had the opportunity to fly a spark, but I gather that it was kindof a groundbreaking drone in terms of size, weight and portability. Technically you can fly it over people (but not 'crowds') cars and roads (at least in the UK), but yeh, you still need situational awareness and should be mindful of what could go wrong at all times. Sadly though whilst this is a great drone to get people into the hobby, there will always be the odd tw@ out there bringing it into disrepute and ruining it for the rest of us😔. Ah - there are a couple of things you can do to help - switch the camera sharpness to -2 and noise reduction to -1. Also switch AWB off and set it to 5600K. It is what it is and you get what you pay for. If you want better video and photos, get a Mini 4 Pro. I suspect though when the Neo Pro/2 is release in July 2025 (my prediction!) They will upgrade the camera. In the meantime, it's just a bit of fun.🖖

Picture quality isn’t as good as the bigger drones and I wouldn’t expect it to be seeing as it has a much smaller sensor and cost much less. However, I wouldn’t say it is bad, just not so good, just like the image quality of a £200 camera is not as good as a £1000 camera but the cheaper one still suits a lot of people, just not you.

Didn't get mine for free - but looking forward to a day when DJI do decide to send me something for free as every product I've bought from them has been brilliant (Except the DJI Lav Mic). Expected it to be piece of plastic landfill and yet I'm going out again with it today. As for the other points you make - all wrong except for the 'too loud' one which is a subjective observation (but agree it is a bit 'shrill').
