Several of you have pointed out the fact that the footage from the Osmo Action 3 looks soft and/or out of focus. I agree with your conclusion. The footage I provided is straight out of the Action 3 and does not have any alterations made to the sharpness or focus when putting it together in this video. This enables you to accurately see how this footage looks. I purchased the Action 3 with my own money as I do with all cameras and the goal of this video is help beginners have a great, first experience with the Action 3 while also providing footage samples that help those shopping for an action camera--or current owners of the Action 3--accurately see what they can expect from this camera. I appreciate seeing all of your thoughts and opinions on this camera as well. Thanks!

Great tutorial but how come it only offered 720/1080p export when the clip was a 4k60fps clip that you edited???
@GreatDayForAHike Жыл бұрын
You have to select “Original Resolution” at the top when exporting to export in 4K but it is important to note that some effects including stabilization will only allow a maximum export resolution of 1080p.

So, it is april 1st 2024 now, and I just ordered my DJI Osmo Action 3 yesterday. I think at this moment that suits my needs completely, will vastly go with 4K/30fps. Your video was absolutely brilliant to floow, only your last sentence on using the wall charger was cut off on your edit. Your link directs to a 60 Watt charger, is that the proper one? Loads of thanks for ,aling it able for me to 'suck in' all that information beforehad. And as far as I know there is indeed 10bit video now and a sharpness (low,medium,sharp) option. Keep up the good work!

This post is not just a video, it is an essential for anyone who is new in action cameras be it dji or not. I had my dji action 3 for few months now and I never twicked it till I tried few days ago to mount it on my bike Handlebar and take videos. My videos came out too skaky and the audio bad and the video was washed out. I knew I have to change things on the setting and I hit KZbin searching. To my luck I found your video. I followed all instructions and I set my camera like a pro. So thanks you so much for this video. Dji should reward you for making their product setting easy and clear. On my videos that I posted on KZbin few days ago I have mentioned you and left a link for your video. Thanks again and cheers from Toronto Canada.

Simple-minded people might say your video is too long. I say they are just stupid. The level of depth and detail you went into is exactly what I needed and was looking for. Thanks. Can you do a video comparison with the action 3 VS DJI Pocket 2? Please. I'm undecided if I want to buy the DJI Pocket 2 and add it to my arsenal. If it's an enormous improvement, I would. But if the gains are slight, I would not step up.

21:24 I recommend to set screen off when recording to 3s. It's an action camera so most likely you are recording mountainbiking, snowboarding or a similar activity. That mean the camera is mounted somewhere where you can't that easily change the position and you are likely way too busy not crashing to look at a tiny screen to figure out if the shot is framed the right way. If you have time to look at the tiny screen you also have a finger free to tap the screen to make it comes on.

Thank you so much for sharing this. This is hands down the best presentation on the DJI Osmo Action 3. I will be purchasing this camera and do have a question: I plan on mounting it to my car and shooting a night timelapse of the las vegas strip. What would your recommendations be for video settings and what nd filter to use?
@GreatDayForAHike Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your feedback. That is a great question. If you’re doing a night time lapse of the Vegas strip you probably don’t need an ND filter. I would recommend using the Hyperlapse mode in 4K and probably allowing the Action 3 to do auto adjustments for the ISO and shutter speed. If you want to try some manual settings I would do 24 fps with a shutter speed of 1/50 and an ISO range of 100 - 1600. If it looks like it will be over-exposed then set the shutter speed back to Auto.

@GreatDayForAHike Жыл бұрын
If you open the DJI Mimo app on your phone and then power on your Action 4 the app will see the camera and prompt you to connect. You can then connect and then the app scans the camera for the current firmware version and sees if the newest available version is newer than the version currently on the camera. If there is a newer version the app will prompt you to update the firmware.

Hey, thanks for your video, helped me a lot. How would I do for the nightlapse mode to make it look less blue like at 50:23 and more dark, in the objective to see the stars more and the moon less bright ?
@GreatDayForAHike Жыл бұрын
Great question. If you want it to look less blue, set the white balance to around 4000K. As far as seeing the stars more and the moon less I recommend capturing the sky on a night with a new moon or where the moon is not in the sky at night. Anytime the moon is in the sky, the brightness of it will mute the the brightness of the stars. If you do want to capture stars on a night where the moon is in the sky then I recommend pointing the camera toward the opposite sky of where the moon is at the time.
@l1u1t1t1 Жыл бұрын
@@GreatDayForAHike thanks, yeah I was thinking about that too. Or maybe if I can find the perfect middle where I can capture the moon + some stars around it like in your video but without the sky looking blue

Thanks for all the great information that I've seen in this video. I am only 27 minutes into this video, here is my one question so far. I see the USB-C cable for battery chager block that comes with the Adventure Kit. Are you aware if there are any requirements for an AC Power Adaptor I should should know before purchasing one? I plan on using an AC adaptor to re-charge my batteries on a section hike of the AT later this year. I have some equipment sich as my headlamp, and in-reach that are USB to USB-C cords, but none that are USB-C to USB-C adaptors.

Thank you for your feedback. I am not aware of any specific Power Adapter requirements, but I have used an Anker one with mine and it has worked well. I believe if the wattage is higher than the minimum required it will adjust accordingly. Not certain on this, but that is my understanding.

what do you think about Rocksteady+? new to OA3, so this was a great video to get baseline settings. I got the PGYTech aluminum case to replace the standard DJI one, because it allows you to access the battery/microsd compartment, has a cold shoulder for flash, still allows horizontal and vertical mag mount, but also 14mm verticle mount. I got the Osmo Action 3 Adventure pack, because it comes with the multifunctional battery case and 3 batteries, so there's no need to have a spare powerbank, since you can use the case as both a battery charger and power supply with the 1-3 spare batteries.

Several KZbinrs are complained about the Focus problem. kindly check with your DJI Action 3. Is it hardware issue or possible to solve with firmware update? Expecting the Pros and Cons video to the GoPro 11 & DJI Action 3. It's helpful to the future buyers to choose the right cam. Thank you. 🙏👏👏👏🙏

At this point DJI has not provided anything definitive on whether this is a hardware issue or can be resolved via a firmware update. I’ve got a lot of comparison footage coming soon. Thanks!

Great video I was undecided on which one to go with it was either this or the gopro and I was not liking all the negativity with the gopros so I'm hoping I made a good choice with this dji. I will be doing alot of car videos etc....

Great video with LOTS of information. Where is your hiking trail?
@GreatDayForAHike2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. We do a lot of hiking all around the US but this particular location was a stretch of the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. We’ve done about 1/4 of the entire Appalachian Trail now in sections and it’s a great place to film while hiking.

Just a quick point. The rubber grip around the lens is actually to help you grip it when removing the lens, it should be removed for normal use and kept safe and not on the camera. In water it will simply come off and disappear. Other than that thanks for a great review your instructions are first class and extremely helpful with great clarity.

I appreciate this thought and tip. I hadn’t ever removed mine but I will now 😃
@immerification2 жыл бұрын
According to the dji manual the rubber cover should be in place when using the cam to prevent overheating of the lense protector.
@djm2432 жыл бұрын
I also read this but DJI support state it is to give grip when removing the lens protector and will fall off in. Normal use. So I am as confused as others. I removed mine and have had absolutely no issues.

Awesome video that helped me a lot with setting up my action camera thank you. I still have a concern that is very frustrating and it seems nobody talks about this. I like to travel light and therefore only travel with my camera and my ipad and sd card reader and the card is detectable via my ipad but it does not see the videos I recorded. The only way to get them is by using a computer and for testing purposes I only down loaded some free editing software to test with and it worked. This is my experience and I am a super duper noob at this, so if I am doing something wrong please educate me. Thanx Johnny

I have what should be a solution for you: Install the DJI Mimo app on your iPad from the AppStore and then power on your Action 3 and pair it with the DJI Mimo app on your iPad. You’ll then be able to view the files on your MicroSD card in the Action 3 as well as download those files to your iPad for sharing and/or editing. Thanks and hope you enjoy your Action 3!

Thanks for the video. I got mine 2 days ago. I had problems from the very beginning tho. My Osmo got an overheating error after 15minutes of recording at 1080p 30fps. At these settings it also used 10% battery in 10minutes. I contacted the support, one said that thats not normal behaviour, and another one said that this is fine and the camera isnt supposed to record for much more than 20minutes at a time. What do you think about this?

No vloggers did that. I am always searching for Photo shot tests reviews on action cameras

Brilliant video. I had been set on a Hero 11, but your video has more or less swayed me to this camera instead.

Thank you for your feedback. I own the Hero 11 and this camera and like them both. Each has pros and cons. Overall I do consider the Hero 11 the better camera of the two but this one does come at a lower cost.

@@GreatDayForAHike I've just watched the editing software section, and found it to be very impressive as to what can be done. Is the software free to use (including the features you demonstrated)? Does the GoPro offer a similar software for editing with comparative features? I ask I will only use a mobile phone for editing.
@GreatDayForAHike Жыл бұрын
Yes the DJI Mimo app has some great features and is free. GoPro has the Quik app which is also free and has a lot of features. Some of the advanced features in the Quik app are only available to GoPro subscribers.

Thanks, great video. If I can suggest an addition? The most important aspect for me and one which I cannot find in the user manual or any review videos are, how long does it take to boot and start recording. I want to use the camera for salmon fishing and normally would like to hit the button and immediately start recording, preferably with a 30s buffer which I believe this camera doesn't have. This camera appears to tick all the boxes apart from the buffer although I was disappointed to read below if I export the original file I would lose all the rocksteady stabilisation? Thank you.

Many thanks for sharing your experience and the settings which I find really useful. I wonder if you could help with a query. In the settings function I'm unable to complete the horizon calibration set up even though the camera is on a firm flat surface. After pressing confirm the camera says "failed calibration make sure its stable and try again....... ???? Can you suggest a possible fix ? Ive had my A3 for about 2 months and seen loads of complaints about soft or blurry focus. I have checked and double checked the focus and sharpness on my A3 and happy with the results. Thanks once again for your excellent video.
@GreatDayForAHike2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your feedback. I had this happen once on my Action 3 and what I did is I moved it to a different surface (a hardwood floor) and then when I tried again it worked. If that doesn’t work for you I recommend making sure the firmware is up to date and if it still doesn’t work I recommend you contact DJI support as it could be some type of hardware issue with this component on your camera.

@@GreatDayForAHike thanks for getting back to me. - after several attempts and moving it to different locations I was beggining to think the horizon calibration would not complete. Thanks for encouraging me to persevere at last Success !!!! Thanks also for your excellent recommended settings.

When would you recommend using the HDR settings?
@GreatDayForAHike Жыл бұрын
In situations where you have a large contrast in the scene you are filming such as shade in one side of the frame and sunlight in the other side of the frame. This is where HDR will tend to excel. Situations where the lighting is vastly different across your frame.

Thanks for all your videos, they are very educational. I recently got a DJI Osmo Action 3, mainly for use on the motorcycle during track days and during bike rides. I am still trying everything, but what I find a big drawback is that the recordings is saved in parts. For example, recordings of 20 minutes are saved in fragments of an x number of, say, 6 or 7 minutes. How do I get this into one whole via the camera or DJI app? wrong possible. Thanks in advance for an answer, greetings from the Netherlands .. Marlig(nickname).
