@ChrisIverson26 yes like I said I wasn't able to test low light in mtb conditions because where I rode that day was out in open and so no shaded areas. I can't wait to test it on some trails under trees. I think that low light was one of the few things the previous Osmo wasn't good at

Hello, I saw a few other reviews of these two cameras and finally I was able to get the exact answer to my questions in your review... and I thank you very much. Of course, it was strange for me that in some other reviews, it was clear that the Action 5 clearly performs better in low light, but you said the opposite, which I think is not true... In the end, thank you again and now I will buy Osmo for mountain biking. :)

@mrezak67 thank you 👊 I just wanted to be honest and my review is coming from the perspective of a mountain biker. The only reason why I said the Osmo performed better in low light was that was my experience with that 1 little test inside my restaurant. However after testing it in real world the DJI is better.

This is a solid comparison. Ive been running the GoPros for a few years now , from 8-9-11 and 11mini( mini was a disappointment for sure) . All angles chest, chin, under visor etc.. I'm pretty sold on the Osmo at this point in the few really solid comparisons ive seen. I'm actually shocked how much better the audio and Rocksteady feature is. I haven't posted much recent footage out of boredom of the same rinse and repeat trails, plus the depression of loosing 4 days and nights of Whistler footage. But i'll get consistent again here soon and likely will be rocking that OSMO 5 . good stuff brother. AND LIKE ALL OF US ON THE MTB , I REALLY, REALLY WANT THAT UNICORN !!

@@MTBraging you won't be disappointed with the Osmo Action 5. I switched from the GoPro 10 to Osmo Action 3 2 years ago and never once regretted it.

I believe your dead cat is over the temperature sensor on the Osmo. The stereo mics in the diagram are on the beginning and ends of the lettering on “Action 5 Pro”, as well as on the bottom of the camera, and the hole in the middle says it’s a light temperature sensor. I’ve been trying to figure out audio with mine. Tried the DJI lav mic with a dead cat, which sounds extremely thin to me, and then the camera mics with level 1 noise reduction and no dead cats and I think it sounds way better. Mainly did the noise reduction because I couldn’t figure out where to put a wind muff. If I roll off the low end of the eq, it’s pretty good, though.

Thanks for the review! I'll be curious to see why the Osmo has worse low light performance. I haven't looked at the specs to see what's changed. I ride a lot of forested trails so low light performance will be important. I'm not a GoPro fan since I tossed mine due to all the freezes and memory card recording fails.

@Tomzzzzzz keep in mind that the settings were what I used for riding. If you are shooting at night there is a mode for "LOW LIGHT " and it's actually really good at night

What is the weight of your Ebike with the triple crown fork? And do you get good air and pop off jumps?

@leomartinez1213 I don't remember the exact weight off hand I think it was 51 or 52 pounds. Yeah you can still get a lot of air and I would say more pop off jumps. Where the ebike struggles is breaking and cornering

Thanks for the review. I find that the Stuntman chest mount is very stable compared to other chest mounts. With the GoPro 13 being slightly larger than the Osmo Action 5, it probably flops around more leading to worse stabilization when mounted on the chest. I have the Stuntman chest mount and the GoPro 13 and even night rides look stable.

@jeffjacksonmtb the gopro 13 on the chest is stable 95% of the time but on very Chunky sections is where you see it not do so well. I went down these trails on purpose because they are very Chunky and I wanted to really put the stabilization to the test. At the end of the day, I had the DJI Osmo Action 5 on the exact same chest mount and it did better then the GoPro. They are both 2 of the best cameras and you can't go wrong I just wanted to compare them as a mountain biker

@@TommyHuynh Right! I also ride super chunky terrain on South Mountain in Phoenix. I agree with you that in the same super chunky scenario, the Osmo Action 5 looks more stable, but if people want to use a GoPro 13 and the issue with stabilization on chunky terrain is a big factor, the Stuntman chest mount goes a long way to remedy that... to the point where the stabilization issue is resolved.

Still faithfully rocking my GoPro 8, but if an upgrade is ever needed that DJI does look very compelling. At least WAY more compelling than those insta360 cameras. Until they even attempt to sort out their audio, the 360 cams are just a hard no. Non starter. One thing I've struggled with is basically the flat vs color profile on GoPro. And part of me thinks the DJI has better native color to either just post or begin color editing from. But does it have 'color profiles' of any kind? Or just like exposure bracketing at most?

@TeddyParker both cameras has HDR and you can put the DJI to D-Log M 10 Bit if you want to go back in post production and mess with the color. I personally don't have time for that so I have the DJI on Normal 10 bit.

My opinion is that the outdoor light quality is brighter overall on Osmo and darker on GoPro. There should be an adjustable camera setting for your example inside a restaurant to really compare the cameras in indoor or low light settings correct?

@leomartinez1213 yes both cameras have "low light mode" but the point of my video is to compare the cameras as a mountain biker. I want to see how the camera works going from light to dark in the same way you go from under tree shade to open bright sun. This is where both cameras struggle in real life. I left the cameras on the mode that I use when I ride to compare. I pointed the camera into my beer display case which is bright and turned it around to the restaurant which is darker to see the transitions

At first I thought the GoPro had better image quality but then when you put the DJI on the chest mount it appeared to have better image. I think maybe your body blocked some of the glare. It seems like DJI had better stabilization and definitely better sound. It seems the overall image quality was comparable between the two. I just hope DJI continues to release firmware upgrades for the previous to iterations and doesn't go full GoPro I just releasing a new camera every year in offering no support for previous versions

Great job, one of the best reviews of action cams - because you compare action movies👍. I would still go for the Gopro, because of the GPS allows to show telemetry data, which I like to see in action videos. If the DJI would offer this feature build in the cam, I would go for DJI. Regarding low light capabilities, this is important for camera reviews, but in reality such videos are made with smart phones - or did you ever see anybody making a video or photo in a restaurant (or at night in the city) with an action cam?

I just wanted to strap both cameras on and go for a ride and compare the footage because I think that's what most people who will be using these cameras for want to see.

@leomartinez1213 yes it definitely is. If you already have the Osmo 4 I don't know if it's worth the upgrade but if you use the camera a lot like I do than yes it's worth the upgrade

Good comparison...DJI definitely has the better sound and slightly better stabilization, what I like about DJi is the accesories they give you. GoPro could learn a thing or two from DJI cuz you dont even get the new magnetic mount when u buy the GoPro 13 (have to pay another $25 for it)🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂

My experience is that KZbin is the major bottleneck here. Regardless of how great the video quality is or if you use HDR, KZbin brings the quality down so that a comparison is not possible. But still, I think KZbin provides a valuable service so I’m not complaining

The stabilization on a DOA5Pro is UNBELIEVABLE!!!! The whole background stays locked, why only the bike and ground seems to move. FAR superior than the Gopro13.

what happened inside the restaurant? dji action 5 has insanely good low-light compared to gopro that's so dark. we tried this personally at very low light and dji action 5 nailed it. gopro was completely dark like you can't even see your face 😅

I think you missed covering a spot with the dead cat on the go pro. If it’s properly covered, it shouldn’t make that noise with the wind. Both camera look pretty good anyhow.

@FastToysClub I have a couple friends that has the windslayer on their GoPro which covers the entire camera and I can tell you the sound quality is much better on DJI. It's a lot more obvious if you record with both cameras and watch them side by side

Not a fair comparison from a chestie vs chin mount. No matter what camera you use the chestie is always going to look way less stable compared to a chin mounted camera.

I guess you didn't pay attention to the video nor read the description of the settings. I didn't color grade any of the footage. Both cameras were set to 10 bit and gopro on standard DJI on normal. This is how I always set my cameras I never color grade any of my videos.
