DJI Osmo Action Camera - Full Review and Demo

The DJI Osmo Action camera is one of the best action cameras on the market today. Better than GoPro HERO? In my opinion - yes. I have put the Osmo Action camera through the paces during the creation of this video and the results were amazing.
DJI's image stabilization is RockSteady and agreeably rock steady!:) The camera's ability to stabilize video during heavy movement is a testament to DJI's commitment to adventure seekers and/or anyone who wants a small solid camera to record a unique perspective.

Crazy how good the in camera microphone sounds. As amazing as the photos and video were, that was the one thing that really stood out since in camera mics, even on more expensive cameras, are usually pretty much crap.

Thanks for the feedback!:) There was a bunch of effort put into the editing of the entire video (slicing all the various clips, etc.). The photos were not too bad though ... I shot in RAW and forced the ISO down to 100. While this camera can take photos, it is definitely made for video:). Nonetheless, I was pleasantly surprised by the photo results given the sensor size:).

For the slow motion footage, did you use the slow motion option or did you record regular 1080 at 120fps? What for the time lapse, did you use hyperlapse or did you just speed up the footage? Very informative and professional video. Thanks

Thanks for the post/feedback/questions:). I used the built-in features for both super slow-mo and hyperlapse ... it was nice to let the camera handle everything. I post edit with Premier but did not need to slow down or speed up any footage:).

Check out the DJI Osmo Pocket. It's a great little vlogging camera used by some youtubers. It gives great smooth video footage when walking or in a moving vehicle. Its like a little gimble

Thanks for the post/question:). Are you taking picture in JPEG fine? Typically, a warning regarding blurred photos when printing is a result of resolution. Shooting in JPEG fine should be good to print at just about any size:). Your print program may also issue the warning regardless of resolution as a simple warning.

kindly make compression between DJI OSMO ACTION VS GO PRO HERO 7. It is always fun to learn something from you ,because you use low budget gadgets to shoot like pro, that is important.because that left no excuse that i can't learn this just because i don't have expensive camera .

Thanks for the the post and agreed!:) Bigger is not always better ... I like to make entry level gear shine:). A bit of knowledge and experience can go a long way. The Osmo Action and GoPro Hero 7 are very similar with one major exception - the front facing screen:). The front screen is great for composition - this allows you to self compose the scene/video which is nice. In addition, the rock steady feature is better at stabilization ... it is - rock steady:). I also noticed that GoPro dropped their price by$50 to match Osmo Action ... DJI came out the gate with a better price.

Thanks for the post/question:). I have not experienced any notable issues with 4k although I typically shoot in 1080p:). When shooting in 4k, I typically take relatively short clips ... 2-3 mins per. The camera can definitely shoot longer, but I believe the total video will spawn multiple files and may drop a few frames between files.

Ahhhhh yes:). There is some lag but I do not find it too bothersome. I use the screen for initial composition and don't look at it again:). Nonetheless, I feel DJI could address the issue with a firmware update but they have not release one yet.

I might suggest a used Nikon D5500 ( amzn.to/2SFpFim ... look for the used price on the left side of the screen; you might also check ebay, etc. ). The D5500 and newer D5600 are VERY similar ... both offer a rotating touch screen as well. If you shop around, I believe you can find a used D5500 with the 18-55 kit lens for around $500.

Ahhhhh yes ... lightening:). A few weeks ago, we had a nice storm brewing. I grabbed my gear and started a video on how to capture lightening. Unfortunately, we had no lightening:). Nonetheless, I plan to make one soon providing we have the right conditions.

Thanks for the post/question:). The DJI uses a micro SD card. All recorded files can be transfer to a computer using the included USB cable or any micro SD card reader. If using the included USB cable, connect one end to the DJI and the other to your computer > turn the DJI and your machine should detect the device:).

Ahhhh yes, there is a small lag when shooting with rock steady. It did not seem to bother me as I many used the front facing screen to compose and hit record:). If there was lag, I did not mind as I knew the scene was recorded.

I hate a lag on both screens -- plus it does not have Super Wide Angle -- like the GoPro 7 Black -- also the audio is 1000% better in the GoPro 7 Black -- buy the GoPro 7 Black --

The GoPro Hero 7 has a 149 degree wide angle whereas the Osmo Action has 145 ... very similar:). The RockSteady is noticeably better at stabilizing the video, and the mics are very similar. The lag is a bit more challenge though but this is only the case when using high video frame rates with Rock Steady enabled (which can be most of the time:)). The biggest advantage is the dual screen which is great for composing images/video.

GoPro Hero 7 is a great camera but I feel the Osmo has a slight edge ... dual screens and Rock Steady are great, however the lag can be annoying:).
