What do you expect when GoPro7 was out last year September... Of course competitor brands will look into doing it 1000 times better, they had all that time until now right? The thing is, GoPro did it first with an in-camera stabilization.. Hypersmooth and now DJI, Rocksteady (very cool BTW)... I'm not surprised... But I do expect technology to always keep getting better and better... GoPro has been through 7 models to get here... DJI, it's first action camera and working off what's already been done, improving it and giving more... It's easy to go from "1 to 2" ... @@DennisSchmitz I'd hold off on that claim and in my opinion having experience with only the Hero 7, the OSMO Action will have very similar performance. That being said, the GoPro has the edge on the field of view for action shots if that's what you're after. I did some in depth research and I love the osmo but there’s a couple things that stood out to me. the viewfinder is not real-time with EIS on(lag that makes tracking action difficult), no hdmi out for quick plug and play to TVs, EIS crops 20% of image, no EIS with HDR Video, read that the image compression codec results in a lot of lost detail 100mbits/sec looks worse than GoPro’s 78mbits /sec because of this. any uploaded video to phone ends up 1080p or less, regardless of resolution of file.

I do have a GoPro Hero 7 Black and I have never had a soft focus issue as you've shown here on your comparison video. As for the "Rocksteady" feature: GoPro Hero 7's video clips can be (anyone with editing software can stabilize their clips) stabilized. The plus for GoPro Hero 7 is that the colors are more accurate. In post, the Osmo Action can be color corrected at the expense of time to so. I have nothing against DJI, in fact, I hope their sales volume is profitable, but I'll stay with my GoPro Hero 7 Black.

Would love to see a low light comparison indoors. We use GoPros to record live shows for KZbin and whilst I’m not disappointed with the GoPro, they could definitely be better. I know action cameras are meant to record, well, action, something that had a great low light capability as its speciality would be a boon for the likes of us who want to be able to record our shows and have them deal with some of the more erratic lighting changes from the stage lights. Plus, as we have to set them up and basically leave them to run, the form factor is perfect for us, but the set and forget nature does make it difficult when lights change. Btw, I do appreciate this might be extremely wishful thinking!

Georgi Georgiev Totally wondering the same thing either the lens or the filter was smudged because I know the go-pro has a lot better image than that.

@@leroytwohawks1 yes. I mean if that DJI is better ..ok..but gopro doesnt have such a nokia picture. I think it has something to do with the filter

Simply return it. I order the Osmo Action right away after I saw several comparison between Oasmo Action and GoPro Hero 7. Way better in many way. Thank up for DJI.

You should do another stabilization test. Osmo action camera is father from the center of your hand than the GoPro. This will change the relative displacement when twisting your hand.

Great comparison,I prefer the video from the Osmo,it has a few kinks to be addressed ,but overall it's better.

With the osmo lag does it effect the audio being synced on an external mic? Maybe that’s why they haven’t talked about a mic adapter because they need to sort the lag out. Does the osmo do 2.7k? Does the rock steady work in all resolutions? The color isn’t as warm on the osmo and needs to be color graded.

Watched a few reviews now. GoPro hero 7 has superior picture quality in every review. The colours are washed out looking on the DJI compared to GoPro.

Great review. The screen delay on the Osmo would be a big issue for me to keep framing accurate for a moving subject. Is the delay the same in 1080 as it is with 4K? I plan to shoot mostly in 1080 is why I ask. THANKS

I am waiting for GoPro hero 8 before I invest in an action camera. GoPro 7 today is a bit old yet great and dji Osmo I would say its ok ok. so waiting for hero 8.

Is it possible to have an external mic? Is there a usb-c adapter or something?

Hey dave I was planning to buy my first ever action cam this month for my upcoming ride. Before Osmo action i was damn sure about hero7 but now I'm all confused which one should i buy. Also osmo action is not available yet in India and my ride is in 2 weeks, so what you think should i wait a little for osmo action or should i just buy hero7? Help me, I'm so confused🤯😵

anand thakare Same position as you man. I think that the Osmo is in the Honeymoon phase with many of these KZbin reviewers. I have watched quite a lot of reviews and generally the GoPro looks better to me 80% of the time.

@@chipoko1838 exactly man, before osmo everyone was praising hero7 and all of a sudden people started talking completely negative just because they added screen on front and stabilization is little bit better

I don't know, I still like better colors on the GoPro ! Similar cameras, but not sold for DJI yet. Maybe if DJi is something new, they look the same ...

GoPro has it in the bag for me. While the front facing screen is nice, I can't get past the stabilization CONstantly being based on the background with the Osmo footage, and the GoPro almost always being based on the subject. Once you realize the Osmo isn't stabilizing the correct part of the picture (at least in selfie mode) it's no longer such a game changer... for me.

2:35 Did you Sharpness tuned down on the GoPro? The Osmo looks a bit too digitally sharp.
@jambononi5 жыл бұрын
Apparently you can't turn down sharpess on the osmo, but can on the GoPro, so they probably forgot to mention the Gopro is (probably) turned down, but don't hold me to that.

Osmo action for me the photo and image video is better and the details shows better in osmo, with slow motion osmo could win due the detailed... Finally the 2 screen in osmo make you vloging better

Another one... Not even a word about the GPS installed in GoPro, which is useful and is a big advantage for real action sport. Of course not for walking/talking individuals.

Why is the go pro so blurry... Is this normal? Did you get a fake go pro? :D On the other hand, the DJI looks too much artificially sharpened... :/

Yep, easy win. The Osmo image looks like straight out of a phone.
@JulianRalphie5 жыл бұрын
Finally, somebody noticed this. I think most people think the Osmo looks “better” because it appeals more to amateurs. It’s easy to equate more sharpness to better quality but in reality, it begins to look kind of cheap and ugly with the stark lines between subjects. Although the go pro had something wrong in this video (usually isn’t that blurry) overall, the picture is softer and WAY more flattering than the sharpness of the Osmo.
@JulianRalphie5 жыл бұрын
And yep, colors straight out of camera are much better in my opinion too. I’m not one to touch up every go pro video I record. I like go pros for being efficient and I want the best footage out of camera.
