Very Informative video! An important point, is that since the battery extension is automatically charging the main battery (all the time) if you are plugging an external mic into the USB on the battery handle, you will have in effect two drains on extension and when the extension battery is empty the Pocket 3 will still run off the main unit battery BUT the USB on type battery extension will now be dead and not available to power an external mic. This is a BIG battery management oversite, as the battery extension USB can not draw from the main battery to power and external mic - hopefully a future DJI update will address this. Current work around - get additional battery extensions.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing this.

@@ttl_channel After additional testing, I have found that a connected external microphone will still work if the battery extension is out of power - unless you power off the Pocket 3 or unplug (then reconnect) the external mic from the usb - in these cases pass thru power of the USB no longer exists, until the battery extension is recharged to at least 1%.

Thank you for these information! ❤ I just bought the DJI but I didn’t know what to use to charge it. I can understand from your video that the standard charging is better than fast charging, right? and anything above 20 watts is considered fast charging?
@ttl_channel2 ай бұрын
I would say a good strategy would be to charge using a low power charger (e.g. 10W) and use fast charging only when you need it. That should help your battery last as long as possible.
@JoeMicalizziMPC10 ай бұрын
Excellent video. I might suggest the increase in times might be attributed to the fact that the gimbal was established not working to stabilize the camera while it was stationary on the tripod. Plus, I'd suggest NOT fast charging using 65 watts as a routine to help extend battery life. Certainly 30 watts and even 20 watts for routine charging would be better.

Great info. Appreciated. Is there a way to check the current battery levels of the charging handle as well as the battery life of the camera itself? Thanks.
@ttl_channel6 ай бұрын
Actually, more than one way: 1. If you plug the charging handle into the camera, after a couple of seconds the display will show the charge status of both camera and battery handle (exception: does not appear when both are fully charged) 2. When powered on, you can tap the battery icon on the screen to see the actual % remaining. If the battery handle is attached, you get status for both.

Hi, great explanation, but I still have a question about the amps. How many [A] do I need to have for each of the types of chargers that you talk about? Thanks !
@ttl_channel9 ай бұрын
Not sure I fully understand the question, but if you are plugging into household AC (120 or 240V), none of these chargers will present a problem. For example, a 30W charger running on a 120V system will only draw 0.25A.

Fantastic video - thank you so much for sharing. We're planning on taking the OP3 to the Norwegian Fjords next week. I'm thinking about buying an external power bank for the OP3 (I didnt go for the DJI battery handle) and Sony cameras to extend life when shooting all night time lapses. Unfortunately the Mini 4 Pro isn't allowed on the ship. :/ If I were to plug in an external power bank to the OP3, would the main battery deplete and THEN charge from the power bank or would I be able to shoot for several hours continuously .. or until the card filled ? Thanks again for producing these highly informative videos !

My experience shows that when plugged in to power, the OP3 draws power from the external source until depleted, then from its own battery.

Great, and informative video! I just got my dji Pocket 3 Creator Combo. I've been using my little white charger (which came with my iPad mini 6) to charge, and have the Pocket 3 atop the battery extension grip. Once the Pocket 3 fully charged to 100%, it turned off. After that, the battery extension grip began charging, first with one blink per second, then later two blinks, and now (while still charging at this very moment) at three blinks per second. Since the downloadable manual is somewhat vague about that, are these series of blinking (on the battery extension grip) 'normal'? And, is it ok to charge the two extensions, as well as the camera all separately? Finally, can you record or work on changing settings on the screen while the camera is charging? Your help and advice is much appreciated!! Thank you!
@ttl_channel11 ай бұрын
The blinking on the handle is normal - it blinks between 1 and 4 times, which indicates: 1 blink: 0-25% chargerd 2 blinks: 25-50% 3 blinks: 50-75% 4 blinks: 75-100% Yes, no problem to power on the camera and record or change settings while charging.

Thank you for a great presentation. I found your channel looking for charge level recommendations for storage. I have a DJI Mini 2 where the batteries will discharge themselves to below 80% after a couple days of storage. So, if the Pocket 3 batteries have the same chemistry as the Mini 2 batteries, it would be worth it to me to stop charging at 80% in order to extend, in this case, the camera life. Do you agree?
@ttl_channel9 ай бұрын
I think the Mini 2 draining issue is more related to firmware than battery chemistry. I have not seen the same issue (so far) with the Pocket 3, although I have not yet tested over longer periods.

Enjoyed this video, thanks. What is the charging rate from a battery pack to camera? Are there battery packs that can fast charge?
@ttl_channel9 ай бұрын
Most power banks specify the output, e.g. 10W, 20W, etc. and they will charge at the same rate as an AC charger with the same rating - and yes, there are power banks that support fast charging for the P3. Look for one that has PD through a USB-C port (30-40W is sufficient).

Sir just one question, what do you think the in built battery would get depleted in how many years or months if someone buy this pocket 3 now?? Because to invest our hard earned money just needed to know for many years it would be working??
@ttl_channel11 ай бұрын
I would assume you would get many years of use from it, but perhaps after 1-2 years, the battery life might not be as long. A lot depends on how well you treat the battery (e.g. not draining too often below 20% and not fast charging all the time).
11 ай бұрын
normally this batteries are rated based on cycles , regular LiIon batteries have a regular 500 cycles before they start to degrade , also if you don't use it for some time , don't keep the battery at 100% , I think DJI may even integrated some battery drain in case you don't use the battery for a week for exemple , so that it does not get damaged , based on this cycles then you can try and estimate , but I would say you could easily use it for 3 to 4 years without issues , I had the previous Poket 2 that I gave now to a friend , and battery was still in very good shape , and I had that since launch

The DJI Pocket 3 gets heated during long video recordings. Does this pose any problems for the device?
@ttl_channel8 ай бұрын
It should not. I recently did some additional testing, with multiple 4K/120 runs. The P3 got really hot, but at some point gave a warning message and stopped recording, presumably as a safety measure.
@InfiniteFocusDigital6 ай бұрын
That higher use time has a lot to do with the camera just sitting still. Since the Gimbal is active (uses power to operate) putting the camera through a lot of movement, like you might shooting handheld, it will cause the performance to be drastically decreased. NOT to the point of a problem... but those numbers you show aren't indicative of what they might be with real world usage.

I was told that this camera can record a complete and continuous video for only 45 minutes in 4k recording mode. And immediately starts recording a new video. Is this true? It is not possible to record a long video with the highest possible quality with this camera??
@ttl_channel10 ай бұрын
The 45 minute limit is correct, but there's more to it than that. Basically, there is a file size limitation of 16GB, which gives you about 40-45 minutes at 4K, but that doesn't mean that the camera stops recording - it just closes one file and opens the next. So, for example, if you record for 60 minutes, you will get 2 files. The good news is that if you place them together on your video timeline, they will flow perfectly, with no dropped frames, just like it was a single file.
