D-LOG M and HLG profiles both show quite noticeable amount of noise in low light conditions. The video is still usable but make sure to leave noise reduction setting at 0. If you set it to -1 or -2 you will definitely see A LOT of noise. With NR at 0 after sharpening and grading you can can pretty decent footage, with only slight loss of resolution comparing to shot taken in low light mode. This is my experience after thorough testing of this camera.
@mrgreenfull389711 ай бұрын
Yes, definetly a lot of noise with those logs. I can see noise dancing even with ISO50 on a small DJI pocket screen ! Also, I can see huge pixelisation on sky and on flat uniform surfaces. After using denoising tools in After effects, it is much better, but without this is horrible. Do you have some advice with sharpening and noise setting in camera ?
@Koensol4 ай бұрын
Why would you use HLG or DLOGM in low light anyway? These picture profiles are for high dynamic range scenes. Low light usually isn't HDR, unless we are talking sunsets.

Hi Tamara. Looking good as always 🌷I find colour grading for KZbin is kind of a nightmare, because they are using an H.264 codec in 4:2:0 8 Bit colour space, which crushes your blacks and highlights, desaturates your colours, and truncates your 10 Bit Pocket 3 footage. The net result is a shift in your camera colour grading behind your back as soon as you upload it ! I wish there was a way you could calculate exactly how much the blacks and highlight detail is being clipped when you upload, so you could compensate for this in the camera footage grade before you upload your edit. (??) Even though this is happening, the D-Log M 10 bit footage is definitely much better than if you shoot and upload in regular pocket 3 settings. I would like to see you perform a test between the DJI D-Log M Lut applied to 10 bit footage and your custom colour grade.

Great video, but when you put it in automatic there is no need to frame something white, before switching to manual? Is there only the Rec 709 LUT on DJI to convert from D-LOG M or are there other free ones available? I work in Davinci Resolve but nothing changes for LUTs.
@TamaraGabrielUK11 ай бұрын
I’m not sure you understood. When wanting to shoot in manual white balance to avoid colour shifts, the easiest way to “know” which kelvin value to set it to so that it is “correct” for the scene at hand is to put it in auto then immediately switch to manual. This is not for shooting in to white balance, for that you just leave it in auto.
@FrancoAversa11 ай бұрын
@@TamaraGabrielUKYes, thank you, but when you switch to automatic and you don't have a white in the scene, will the camera still adjust to white? It averages the colors, shouldn't we frame something white to be safe? Then you switch to manual and you saw the kelvin degrees so you lock them on the fixed value so that they don't change often.

@dannyhendy10 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if it's the new firmware, but if you want to reduce the noise, you have to put it to '1', not '-1'. I just tested it in dark conditions, against a wall, I experimented until I could make a noisy image. It was by putting it to 1 that I got rid of the noise. Putting it down to -1 made it worse. Every KZbinr I've seen says the opposite. It may be a good video to do, as everyone is saying the same thing and I'm almost certain it's wrong. Again, it could be a firmware thing, but try it out. If you think about it, it makes more sense, double negatives and all that.

Very nice tips Tamara! I am still on the Pocket 2 and I use AUTO as well, but in combination with ND Filters. I limit my ISO to 800 or 1600, set the EV to -0,3 or -0,7. Then the shutter speed will automatically be in the 1/120 region when I am shooting 60FPS footage. Normally I just use an ND8, if its very bright and sunny I go higher. That works quite good and for me its the best solution as I am constantly walking around in cities. The manual settings are quite difficult to manage in these situations. Thanks for the video! It should only be jittery if you pan or tilt really fast. If you move the camera slowly you should get that nice smooth motion blur. If you want more and faster movements in your video. Go for 50 fps with 100 shutterspeed. Less jitter that way, but also less motion blur.

Dlog-M is NOT A LOG PROFILE. It is better to use HLG. Unfortunately, DJI doesn't have a lut for hlg to rec 709.

A nice video, as always. Could you please make a Pocket 2 vs Pocket 3 comparison? Today the Pocket 2 is on offer for 299 €. Thank you very much!

I see you are using FCP i am using davinci on which not only i can use your luts but i have dozens luts on different cameras . I am testing gamma color space which makes darker overexposed video and that prettt good solution For few normal mode i stil can add more colors. Have you seen new update? Nornal mode in 10 bit too 👍

Thank you for your presentation. I was going to get the device, but changed my mind upon learning you have to activate it after a few usage.
