Question; is there a method to test the motor that is not running, short of changing the motors out ? I purchase a wrecked P3 Std and the two right motors dont work. Previous owner put a new shell on it, as a result of the crash, and haas me wondering if it's not the board that is not functioning properly. ??? Be interested in feedback....

I had the same issue, and soon realised it would be a new motherboard or a new drone. Midcityhobby in USA were selling a motherboard with four motors on Ebay, brand new for £89 + postage + import duty. Came to about £130 all in, and fitting the new board and motors was straightforward as it didn't require any soldering. Linked the new board to my controller and the drone now works faultlessly.

Hi ive just try to repair my dji phantom 4 standard when i soldered all all The motors o n The esc only 3 worked motor 4 got very hit and smoke also The esc got really hot and smoke i removed The faulty motor and turn it on without one motor and all esc whas normal temperature i ordered one new motor but i dont know IF The motor or The esc is The fault Will The new motor work as normal and why did it get so hot before whas all The fault The motor or The esc and cn i reuse my esc board without changin The esc.

i have a p3a and 3 of the motors seem to run rough. they spin fine, but when you spin them manually with the props on 1 gives a woosh noise and the other 3 spin but its like they are on cogs, do i need to replace the 3 motors? or will it be ok to continue to fly? or can i spray WD40 into the motors and hope it might just be a little dirt

Hi, my DJI phantom 3 standard's motor spins fine when there isn't a propeller attached, it also picks up speed when I apply power from the controller. However when I place my propeller onto it, the motor spins extremely slow and hardly picks up speed. Do you think this is a motor issue or ESC issue?

Hi Jack I have phantom 3 stqndard. It powers on and can connect to it ok but there are no led lights on the legs coming on at all. In the app I can see through the camera but no control of the drone itself controller light is free so is the sync light on the quad any ideas?

Hello. I had a motor get stuck and overheat a while back and now, when I turn on the motors, they all seem to run at the right speed but when I try to power down, one of the motors does not shut off. Any thoughts on what this might be?

Hello There ! Thanks for the video ! , I am just wondering. I fix these mainboard all the time and I mean like hundreds of them.We do replace SMT components so that the customer does not have to buy a new board. in this case it was the ESC which would mean a board change, the motor wasnt at fault by swapping the motor over it show the motors was fine it was the ESC. Under the main board there is the battery cage which cost £3 - £4 in this case it was broken had to replace it.

antonio lopez ruiz The IMU is working fine it was the ESC on the board, so i have to replace the main board. the Battery Cage was broken so yes had to replace this too.

Robert Kasco No, the size of the P3 motor is different from the rx2206. DJI's motors are already some of the best.

no as you need to upgrade the ESC that are rate for they motors, unless the RX2206 can run off the same ESC then it could work.

if you change the motor over to new motors and you know the new motors are working ok, then yes change the board.

You can tell if the ESC have blow as when you power on the App will say something like ESC error contact DJI so they a good sign that esc have gone.

I'm confused. You switched the motors around to determine if it was the motor or ESC correct? Are there different ESC's for each motor? If so, it would be a bad motor if the motor behaved the same on different ESCs

Master John I know it confused me initially, basically the motor was swapped with a known good one and the issue remained on the arm/motor position. There are it appears 4 esc's on the board, I prefer the older construction of individual esc pcb's

yes for each motor it has it own ESC chips, so by switching the motor around you can see if that motor a problems or if the esc, some case you can blow all esc as the same time, or you can easy blow one of the esc chips, its very easy done just buy holding the motor while it power up can cause the esc to blow.

this is not ESC problem that is trouble on cable you can resoldering or changing the cable with the new one, maybe it broke in Red or Black or Yellow cable...i have been fixing and solved

i have the facilities for replacing the smd mosfets for the ecs on the phantom 3 drones why pay £££££s for a board when the mosfets are a reasonable price to have replaced if a new motor or a known good motor stutters on start up then it is a bad mosfet or more than 1 mosfet the motors are 3 phase a/c motors and if a mosfet/mosfets goes down it drags one phase out.. props jammed in tree branches or jammed in tall grass causing a motor stall can burn out the mosfets. if you look at the 6 mosfets you will see either bad burn marks or the mosfets may show bad cracks and burn marks. the mosfets are npn and pnp type The only other thing to be aware of is using to longer screws holding the motors to the body. you run the risk of damaging the motor windings and again damaging one or 2 of the motor phases causing motor stutter and you may also damage the mosfets because of a dead short on the windings (your motors are now scrap)

How about desoldering the SM components off the motherboard and replacing with new ones. There are videos on youtube on how to do this... so how about ditching the "I dont think I just buy Apple" and engaging brain before offering people advice which is akin to "Give up". Thanks.

yes they no way of re-pairing the ESC all built on the main broad and DJI doesn't sell the chip , it whole board or as you say new drone
