Replacing and Fixing "crazy dance" on DJI Phantom 3 A/P gimbal

Thanks for helping me with troubleshooting. The potentiometer was bad and I got it within 2 days through Mouser ALPS RDC 506 (RDC506018A) for $1.39, shipping was a bit more though.

Is there a pot on all three axes to be tested the same way? And spec sheet seems to suggest accuracy of +/- 30 pcnt, which might explain some of the readings I get: 3.8k-4.5k at the balance point (same on both legs)

I still get the crazy dance after re aligning the roll ESC to its proper position. Is there a chance the Pitch ESC would cause it to do the crazy dance as well? as I dont see much about it on the web. I did order a new Roll ESC but will take some time to arrive so figured I would ask this question of you, since your super smart when it comes to fixing drones.

I have wondered if it is possible to pull the wires out of the gimbals. Glue gimbals in place, keeping only the wiring into the camera. Much less stable video but I could still see where I was going! I enjoyed your video, I was not able to stop the camera seizures though.

My phantom 3 standard fell from 200ft and ripped the gimbal off. I replaced the ribbon cable and broken roll arm, but now when I power it up the gimbal goes crazy. I checked the orientation of the camera to make sure the flat side is on the flat side of the camera and made sure all ribbon cable connections were good. I came across you video and I see you measure 4+ and 4+ Kohm on the roll board but this if for the Adv and pro. I checked the pitch board it it reads 4+ / 4+, but the roll board reads 5+ / 5+ Do you have a standard roll board you can read the Pot value? I suspect this may be the Issue... what do you think.

The half suckered rod inside the gimbal to the camera has to be parallel to the top.if the camera

So, you still around? Do you know how to correctly and properly repair the issue of the yaw arm not centering after a crash? (Most suggest an unreliable fix of moving the yaw arm and putting the set screw on the round part of the motor arm, rather than the flat. Doesn't last and is not proper repair.) Thanks.

So I ohm'ed out the roll board potentiometer and 38.7 one way and 2.7 the other but I do not see any evidence of cracks or damage. Should I replace potentiometer or the whole board??????

To theA8W12 or anyone else who will answer, I am deaf, do you/does he mention where you/he got the replacement pot's? I can't see anything in the subtitles. Also, during the removal, did you/he smear flux across the three lower terminals and then just heat one terminal to melt the solder on all three terminals? For what it is worth there is a similar arrangement at one end of each joystick pivot in the controller

Ah well i just got mine and i didnt do anything hardly i had been flying mine for about 20 min and it decided to go straight up (into a tree) and just go nuts i had to rip the battery out to get it to stop

hello I have a question I had problems with the pitch engine of the camera gimbal. It got stuck not to the movement from top to bottom, replaced by another from another camera and when armed the camera went crazy. I returned the pieces as they were and even went crazy. I measured the position sensor for the roll motor on my P3 standard and it reads 89K on both legs, with no change in value when moving the rotary. it is my assumption that the position sensor is bad. Thanks for the great video

In my case (Phantom 3 Standard),I change 3 times the cable, change 3 potentiometer to, but without success! I later discovered a defect on Pith-axis ESC Motor Circuit Board. At the contact point called HCLR_N, it was shorted! On the back of this board, several shorted pins also on the main controller chip. I bought a new and compatible board on eBay (Pith-axis ESC Motor Circuit Board), made the exchange, and miraculously, it worked perfectly !!!! :) Sorry my bad inglish
