I notice that you didn't perform an IMU Calibration before you flew it. As I understand it, that is a mandatory item to calibrate when it first arrives. That and a compass calibration when coming from China is a smart thing to do.

Left the damper guard on along with the gimbal guard. I've done that, and had to calibrate the gimbal twice now. I don't think that little piece of foam rubber will hurt the damper, but might interfere with the gimbal settings at power up if they're both left on.

If you look at your video when you start the copter, the grass is tall enough to stop the camera and gimbal from cycling through it's normal start up movements. This can cause gimbal issues later.

I received a P4 Pro + on 23rd and like a typical guy I didn't read the instructions and hooked up both the battery and controller to charge at once. Fingers crossed it hasn't damaged it, I'll have to check.

I don't think it will damage it to do that occasionally - it just causes it to heat up more than it should and over time, if you did it too many times, could cause some damage.

I have one on order and just noticed you can pre-order the controller. Nice for those that already have a P4P but costs less if you order with the drone. It amazes me that the monitor uses android yet the only android phones/tablets that seem to work with the app are those with terribly outdated versions of androids OS

Perhaps you should change your title headings (see 2:38) to Phantom 4 Pro+ since yours has the built-in screen which costs more. Of course this would likely require you to trash the video and record all new. (unless you paste a little note/addendum) Meanwhile, I'm glad you indeed ARE reviewing the Pro+ because that's what I bought, however it's now a version 2.0 model. Anyway, thanks for your effort & time to make this video. (bugs me a bit that you're holding on to that little camera)

Informative video...but. If your new to flying drones please read the manual. The craft was pre installed with latest firmware, IMU and Compass calibrated. It was almost ready to fly. The guy at the store did the first unboxing and setup.

DJI Go 4 app update...May 27. Phantom 4 Pro...Be cautious... my update changed the manual controls...It was windy, so brought it home....didn't like where it was landing, so took manual control and the Up control was now Forward!!! Crashed into rocks immediately! Minor damage...2 broken props and 1 prop guard...check settings before you fly!

I should wait to buy the Mavic Pro, because now we are in January and probably dji update the mavic in March as it did with the phantom? The Mavic have the characters that i want, portability and quality, but the video, still little known in fluidity movements, because of the bit rate is low, and given the recent upgrade of the phantom 4 which has a 100-bit rate.

Everything on DJI states that the P4 battery and P4P battery are interchangeable, so I'm at a loss for why support would say no to that - they are countermanding their own literature. Only capacity is different and I've been flying the P4 battery on my P4P for weeks, now with absolutely no difference other than longer flight time on the new battery. This is unfortunately characteristic of DJI support and how any particular wind-up support "specialist" decides to read the sheets they are provided. Yes, they are run of the mill helpdesk warm bodies and not "experts" on the products.

Did your drone come with a 16GB Sony Micro SD card inside the Card Slot of your drone? I ordered a brand new one from Adorama and I had this Micro SD card installed inside the drone already....Drone did not work properly and I just got an exchange and boom again another Micro SD card inside my drone and this time my props aren't in a carry pouch so they must keep sending me a refurbished unit but just wanted to check and see if you had this as well?

Hi I have a question or rather an experiment I have seen the obstacle avoidance sensors are amazing on P4P have you tried a moving projectile i.e something like a tennis ball flying towards the drone. Can the drone detect it and avoid it? in real world it will be birds flying close to the drone. That'll be interesting to know. Thanks

Interesting idea. I don't think something the size of a tennis ball or bird would be enough to stop the P4 reliably. Meaning that it might work sometimes but not others. I know that I have clipped a small tree branch before (drone didn't see it) but also been stopped by a metal wire (drone did see it). Let me think on how we might be able to test what you are suggesting. Thanks for the idea!

Not sure what you mean. The Spark and Mavic give off a Wifi signal and you connect your phone to them. But you can't connect to the internet through the drone if that is what you mean.

I just talked voice to dji and the guy said the p4p battery was fine. I fully charged both and flew both. I got a mint p4 at pawn for 650. It's my third drone. The sound of it flying is like hornets. A lovely sound. What add-ons do you like. I looked at my flight log and the name came up from the first owner as Oranges. Is that able to be set to something I want. Like Megan

You should be able to reset the owner name. I'm not exactly sure how, but poke around in the app, I'll pretty sure that ability is in there.
