Ultimate combo is X4 n Osmo pocket 3. I use both. x4 for a wider n better 3d person view when walking n the op3 for talking head and estabilin shots.

Thank you for the amazing comparison. I'm torn between the image quality of the Dji and the flexibility of the X4. Obviously you can put an X4 at the end of a selfie stick and get drone like shot. Can you do the same with the DJI? If you wanted to start on an establishing shot of a landscape to then move back and reveal a person standing on the edge of the mountain, that would obviously be a one take wonder on the X4, but could it be done easily enough on the DJI? How far does the tracking work? I had the idea to do a drone type shot coming down to a person, so the tracking would need to work from the end of a 3m pole...Again, one take on the X4, but with less image quality... Hope you can help Thanks

most of the things you mentioned can be done with the P3, but as you said, it might take a few shots to get the right framing/composition. With the X4 it should be easier to reframe. Tracking has quite some range if there are no obstacles, but other factors like the amount of light, clothes that the subject is wearing, etc can make it easier or more difficult to track. If you are looking into more creativity I think the X4 should be the way to go. The P3 is more for higher video quality and low light shots and low light stabilization

@@OttoJulian_ Thanks for the quick answer. I actually have a Gopro, so I'm pretty familiar with what I can get out of it, but the image quality always disgusts me... If I can put the P3 on the end of a 3m pole and still track with it, I wonder if that's the decision maker... Also, how good is the stabilisation if walking on nasty terrain by someone who can't ninja walk? Thanks again

@OttoJulian_ I guess a beach is one example, where the feet do their own thing due to the sand, and more offroad craggy hills with no paths. Those would be the main nasty terrain I'm looking at. The app has piqued my attention, too... you seem to be able to do everything, like choose tracking subject and move the camera around from there. This thing is quite amazing.

Excellent comparison, both in terms of your narration and the great footage. To see those sunny scenes made me feel quite a bit better (currently enduring my first bout of COVID, so can't shoot video and not up for buying cameras!). My chief reaction is that the X4 clips did not look bad when casually viewing on 4k tv - they were not humbled by the adjacent P3 clips. As you said, carrying the two cameras in a small bag when out and about covers a good range of situations. Like a tradesman who just takes with him one good hammer and one good screwdriver!

Peteeeer! Hope you feel better soon! Agreed, when I was editing the video the difference having them side by side is less impactful and I felt like doing an "post-edit" insert. The X4 does a good job in daylight, but when I zoom in on different videos taken at the same time, the difference can be seen. The X4 videos fall apart quickly, specially as soon as there isn't enough light. Thank you for your feedback, always appreciated! Take care

The problem with P3 is it is quite hard to control it skillfully. If you ride a motorbike and want to record the scene on the side, using a P3 would be bad because your partner has no knowledge using that and the footage is completely ruined. But with x4, they can just shoot, I can reframe it later. So for me, x4 is better.

No because the 4k resolution is for the entire 180 half sphere. It’s still very good, especially in good light.

Resolution can be the same but that doesn't mean that you will get the same video quality. Although there is no reframing using single lens, there will be some cropping as I explained to get the desired frame that you want.

Something people need to know and it almost resulted in me sending the x4 back, is the poor quality of the footage in the Insta360 desktop app. In the desktop app the footage looks incredibly horrible! When I exported it in the highest quality that footage actually looked way better! Its still not at the level of a pocket 3 or a full frame but it is decent!

I own the DJI Pocket 2, and a few months ago, I purchased the Pocket 3. Unfortunately, I am now disappointed because the screen is malfunctioning despite my careful handling. Since I am on the other side of the world, sending it back for repair is extremely expensive. Am hoping DJI to solve this issue for me.

I literally just got this this morning from Amazon and I actually like it better than the DJi pocket 3 which I also have maybe bcuz it’s new and shiny 😂 I like that right out the box it’s very easy to set up and very dummy friendly especially, if ur new to vlogging and just started ur KZbin channel and your not the best at using a DSLR or the Sony camera’s. It is expensive and I got the cheapest one for $499 plus taxes. Still had to purchase the invisible stick, and extra batteries. So, be ready to drop a week’s pay easily on either one of these cameras 😢

Takes a bit of patience and learning specially if you’ve never edited videos before. They have an AI editing mode but I don’t like that. There is a video in my channel where I explain how to edit videos. You should take a Quick Look at that to get an idea

Being insta360 x3 user I can confirm insta360 doesn’t provide quality customer service. In fact their warranty policy itself is scam With that warranty you will only have 1 chance to replace lens damage (with this kind of exposed lens its quite evident one tend to damage it) X4/X3 categorized as action cam while the fact is you need to accessorize it a lot(protect lens) which makes it uncomfortable to use as action cam One suggestion for them is reduce its length and weight and introduce a new action cam I wouldn’t use insta360 for vlogging as it will anyways record in .lrv format so you have to spend lot of time in editing and exporting (again consumes unnecessary space) So BIG NO TO INSTA360 👎🏻 I like OP3 though for vlogging (but it also has limitations, you cant use it in bad weather) 😢

All 360 cameras are more vulnerable to lens damage due to the design, but you can’t blame insta360 for that, neither can you expect them to pay for repairs due to your negligence. I’ve had an x3 for almost two years with zero damage.

Insta360 X4 is not really being marketed as an action camera, but yeah, every camera needs to be properly taken care of, depending on each person's activities or shooting style. There is always a risk, even for "real" action cameras like GoPro/Action 4

I predicted from day one that it would sell very fast. I guess they can't keep up with the demand? My best advice is to pre-order on Amazon (they won't charge you until it's shipped). That way you can secure one for next month and in the meantime just keep looking around

@@OttoJulian_ I am not from USA but would be traveling to Thailand in the month of November so will have to get from there. It is out of stock in Thailand too. I still find x4 quality to be not like 4k when seen on 4k tv. But I like the creative shots we can take with x4.

@@roninr8199the x4 cropped output isn’t 4k. That’s why it doesn’t quite look 4k on a 4k tv. It’s closer to 2.7-3k, compared to the x3’s 1080p output.

The Pocket 3 DOES NOT have a 1" sensor, any way that you measure it! It's actually a .62 inch sensor, if you measure it diagonally. The "one inch sensor" marketing ploy is a complete fabrication.

@@CLVlogs05most of that is the KZbin artifacts from compression. The x4’s half inch sensors produce grainier video in low light than the Pocket 3, but most action cameras also suffer from this except for the Action 4 and the Ace Pro because they have a 1/1.3 sensor.

why buy a dji osmo camera if I already have a great camera on my phone that shoots similar to the osmo? the other thing is that the dji osmo and the insta360 x4 are completely different cameras. The insta360 is an action camera intended to serve in many conditions and has amazing settings that other cameras they don't. In my opinion, this comparison is pointless, because even if dji osmo has twice as good a camera as insta, it is not an action camera and that's it. For a person who rides a bike, skis, swims, dji osmo is useless

Comparisons are made for people who don’t know much about these cameras and want to get a better idea of which one fits their needs. So this is far from “pointless”. In the end, they are all cameras and not everyone using an action camera wants them for the sports you mentioned. People use them for vlogging just like they would with a regular camera or one like the Pocket 3, or just to record fun times with family. Besides, just a side note, thinking that your camera on the phone can shoot similar to the Pocket 3 shows “how much” you know about the subject. Good job

A phone like the iphone 15 pro max will give incredible results for social platforms and that's the essence of a common user but come on you're the expert who compared two cameras that can't and shouldn't be compared ;)

Pocket 3 is supposed to be a vlogging camera, guess what, I don't use it for vlogging, just like I don't use the X4 for action, and people don't know which camera to buy because not all of them are tech savvy people. So they want to know what they are getting as some will value more versatility or video quality. Now, I do have an iPhone and it does not compare to the quality and it doesn't have features that these cameras have, let alone that not everyone want or will buy a phone over $1000, so your comparison is even worse as these cameras are half the price. I don't force anyone to watch the video, the title is pretty clear, and if viewers like my content they can subscribe, hopefully because I'm giving them the truthful facts about the products. Trolls will always be trolls, keep up the good work, I've watched so many of your videos and they seem to help others. These type of videos are for those who have a certain amount of money to buy a camera and these explains in a very cohesive way the pros and cons of each, or at least what to expect from them instead of listening to the "reviews" that are actually a "product commercial advertisement" where they only point out the good things and none of the bad!
