DJI Ronin 4D-6K | Sony E-Mount | Quick Setup Guide | Problem Solved?

I am not an expert DJI Ronin 4D master folks. I just got mine as I assume many of you have as well. These are just my initial findings and I hope they can help you.

Question for you when you install the E mount does that require separate firmware or does the mount get updated when the firmware on the ronin updates?

So I successfully put on the Sony e-mount and the lens but now I'm having difficulty putting on the DJI lens on the OG adapter. Have you had this issue? A lot of resistance screwing it on and the red dot doesn't line up with the center

Sorry, I can't help on that one as I do not have any DJI lenses. I bought mine specifically knowing I was going to use Sony glass. That does suck my man. I think these are things that DJI should definentley have come across while testing their products prior to release. Wish I had a solution for you :(

I have the same problem. I have the Sony FE 50mm F1.2 GM and it’s a bear to get on there. DJI website and manuals suck so I’ve been having a hard time figuring which counterweight is needed with that lens, or whether or not I needed X9 focus motor…? Where do you put the 2-hole counterweight that comes with the camera? Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Vic, you can also tilt the 4D up on it battery and that makes the lens sit straight down making it easier. That is how I mount mine. It is a horrible mount adapter though!

The tolerances are very tight, they get easier when the unit gets some friction use on it. Older cameras like Nikons used to be exactly the same and we'd have to rub our thumb on the side of our nose then on the metal bayonet mount for field lubrication. Worked every time lol I wish they just copied Red's mount though which is my favorite. This works fine though once you get used to it.

What are your symptoms? I can't control the aperture of either of my Sony lenses or focus them.

I'm still having a hard time with the locking mechanism. It just feels like there is too much resistance and don't wanna break it. Any other ideas or what the hell are the chances that this mount is defective? Because I would hate to exchange it only to have the same issue.

Are you having an issue mounting the adapter or mounting a lens...or both?

@@massiveactionmedia the adapter. The DJI Ronin adapter goes on and comes off like butter. The e mount is giving me crap.

@@TheTravelingDeer Dude, it is very tight. The first 10 times I used it I felt like I was going to break something. Some of the problem was me not getting it to set in place perfectly. I eventually had success when I set the 4D on the area between the battery and the bottom so the mount is sitting horizontally on a tabletop. I found it to help a lot. Still, it was difficult the first handful of times. I grew up in a Hot Rod shop so I am pretty damn mechanical but this thing is just junk IMHO. Unfortunately, I can not help from this far away and I do not want you to break anything. So as lame as I know it is all I can say is use your judgment knowing what I have also experienced and shared with you. Let me know what happens regardless as I have a few other people with this issue and I would like to keep track of the problem. Take care.

A question that make me crazy ,l record some videos in 6k 48 fps full fram but l could see in real time the slow motion after to recor it on my ronin 4d l dont know if it is normal so I took those videos that I had recorded and l put them inside premier pro so there the videos l made in slow motion 48 fps appear with 24 fps , so is that normal ?or did l make somethig wrong ?cpuld you help me in that ?

I found it already ,the ronin can record in slow motion l mean in the same moment in real time and after that clip will be already slow down so l dont need to slow down it in premier and yea in premier this exacly video appear with 24 fps although it was recorded in 48

I am geting problem also with the 6k prores 422Hq is so big file in premier it work a little better but in affter efect not , do you know if extist an actualization about the prores raw for the ronin 4d ?do you have prores raw ,you know they tale it away because dji had problem with the patent prores raw , but l dont know if already they will give again that posibilty
