The Ronin S is fully compatible with the Futaba 14SG and this allows you to get full movement and Start and stop recording, you can use it with FRSKY Taranis however Start Stop/Record and Focus does not work, gimbal moment is fine,
Channel Assignments are as follow
CH1 to Ch 3 Gimbal Movment
CH4: Photo/Record
CH5: User Profile
CH6: Recenter/Selfie
Switches should be 3 position switch and set them up yourself for these functions.

There seems to be some confusions around the cable connection. If you do not want to make your own you can use the DJI Ronin UART to Dbus cable below or follow the pinout. Once the video is uploaded I was not able to change and did not spot it was wrong until later, but I was able to add the still. The image I added is correct and clearly states the pinout. The pins in order from the front back of the focus wheel are Pin 1 V+ 5v Pin 2 is Gorund Pin 3 is Not connected Pin 4 is signal/Sbus You can also use the DJI Ronin M UART to Dbus cable m.dji.com/product/ronin-2-uart-d-bus-cable

I know this an old post.... So thing will have changed. I am looking for a way of controlling my Ronin S from Dragonframe. I know that Edelkrone offers this as a possibility.... So somehow there must be a way of doing this. Dragonframe can connect to Arduino, so that must be a good start.

For what reason in the APP are only the channels for pitch roll and Yaw Enabled, but the rest of the channels appear disabled.

can't get this to work :s what receiver did you use? - It does work now! i am using a taranis and frsky rx4r receiver. it is possible to monitor from the ronin app (User Profile -> Control -> Channels ) if there is an input from the radio. Channels 1-3 are working, channel 4-6 do not get any signal for some reason... Speed, deadband, smoothing as well as hard stops chan also be defined here User Profile -> Control -> Motion

I got a Flysky FS-i6s and I've got nearly everything properly working with my GH5. Tilt/pan, recenter, start/stop recording. I'd love to get the focus control to work but can't seem to figure out what channel the Ronin receives this on. Does anyone know if it's possible to get this to work via a transmitter?

@@PabloVillaVideo I assigned my start/stop to SWB. You have to start it in the middle and quickly flick it up (or down, can't remember) and then back to the middle. It doesn't always pick it up if you don't do it really quickly.

I noticed my app is slightly different than yours so it has been updated since you made the video (i.e. my sliders in the control page dont show the numerical value for the start/stop and other 2 functions, but yours does). If yours still works today with the updated app then I have some hope.

I have a focus motor to ronin s. Normally I can controll that with the focus wheel. Is there a channel to controll the focus motor with the taranis?

I’m not sure on this tbh. The DJI setup on this was a mess. All sorts of problems.

I dont like becuase you cant connect a monitor to the remote or you phone to view live video, the focus wont be a issue if you set it up in a good spot for recording live events as a b roll camera.

Not an RC. expert but if I’ve read this correctly, I can get a standard futaba tx and Rx and a special cable, I can remotely control the ronin-s. I’m confused on which rc is compatible and how to get a suitable cable. I also have a spectrum DX6i - could this be used? Great video though.

Should with with any Futaba RC once you reprogram the channels to the mapping, you can use the spectrum however I have not tried this and if it’s like FRSky you can’t start and stop recording but you can will be able to control gimbal movement.

Hi, I just bought a Futaba 6 channel tx (TL6 Sport) with a R3106GF rx. How do I connect it? Where can I get the wires and which ones? I was looking for single pin wires on Ebay but could find only 2, 3... pin. Also on the rx side there are 21 pins for different channels and B. I conect to B? No info in the manual I got in the box. I use gimbals a lot but never did any RC stuff and needed a remote for S when I put it on the car mount. Any luck with controlling the focus motor remotely? UK based. Thank you!

This is still work in progress, the reason is gimbal control works on these but camera shutter does not, still not sure the reason why as it does worn on Futaba systems. but not on FR Sky.

He is using an FR Sky Taranis and what looks to be an FR Sky X8R. The FR Sky QX7 would be a more affordable option to use with S-bus. Although I cannot confirm this works since I couldn't get it running with S-Bus.

I was able to connect my old Spectrum DX5E and Futaba 7C. With cheap PMW to SBUS adapter from aliexpress. But only pan, tilt and yaw work. I was unable to make shutter, recenter, selfie and user profile to work. Can see the channels receive the signal in the DJI Ronin app, but no reaction from gimbal :(

Thank you so much for posting this. I'm using a Spektrum controller. I followed your steps, but didn't catch the part about switching to sbus till after I set it all up and turned it on. It of course didnt work, and when I went back through the video it was at that point that I switched to sbus. The remote and receiver bound together, but still no results when I moved the joy sticks. Do you have any suggestions. I normally fly my drone with this controller. Might it be set up wrong?

I need to look at this again after the recent update as things may have changed. Basically channels 1-3 should work so just make sure you have the pin out correct and that the assignment on your RC is correct too and it should work. Lastly make sure the switch is in Sbus.

Hey there, the RC receiver uses a 3-pin servo cable, but the ronin spaces the pins out so you need to use a breakout cable, try "Spedix IS30 4IN1 Cable", that's what we used to wire out FR SKY R-XSR, but we haven't been able to get it to communicate with the Ronin S and a Taranis.

Have you tried setting the DJI Ronin-S to do a 360 Infinity roll and controller with the Roll axis? Can this be done? All I have seen is a 15-30 degree roll.

It should be as follows CH4: Photo/Record CH5: User Profile CH6: Recenter/Selfie These need to be 3 pos switches with centre mid pwm doing noting, a quick flick on ch4 to one way takes a still, quick flick the other starts recording, so its centre - up - centre or centre - down - centre to do each action.

Taranis X9D with a compatible frsky receiver will work but there are heaps of other options which would be much cheaper (Brands like flysky). if you require any help, just ask!

this was simply a standard 3 single pin cable for making my own up, you can use a standard RC cable but you would need to change the pinout around.

Hi, great video and made me go and buy the Ronin S that I'd been putting off due to no remote control available from stock. I understand that you use Futaba TX/RX but all I require is pan and tilt control so would it be possible to use something a bit cheaper like the Walkera Devo 7 and Walkera RX-SBUS. I'd also like to use the pan and tilt on just the right hand joystick, do you think this will be possible? Thanks for any advice.

I'll answer this myself as no-one else has. I went for a futaba TX and Rx and all works. The pan and tilt works on one joystick (right hand one for me but could be left hand if preferred) Thanks MS, your a star.

Hi, I followed the futaba manual supplied with the TX. There is a set up for each joystick and switch. I seem to remember that mine just happened to work on the right hand stick and then I adjusted to direction in the ronin app. Best to download the manual and try it. I don't use start/stop for the camera but I would imagine it's possible. There are many settings and adjustments between the TX and ronin app and you can see the stick and switch inputs on the Control Settings of the App.@@EasyButtonFTW

Hi a standard RC servo connector will do it but you would need re wire the pin out. You could also use header jump cables. Look for something like a servo extension cable or RC to Fc cable.

Mad RC this is great info! Those cables seem to only connect to 3 pins. How did you connect to the 4-pin port on the ronin? Did you splice it together with one of the CANbus cables that came with the ronin-s? Or is there a cable that actually works out of the box?
