Using the DJI SDR with an iPad or iPhone was sooo buggy on a five-day shoot I had last week. All other electronic devices were in flight mode, but the DJI SDR cut off a meter next to the camera. We shot indoors and outdoors and it always stuttered a little bit and sometimes cut off completely. My Hollyland Mars 4K which also has its own issues, but feels much more reliable. That you cannot connect iPhones or iPads to the bigger and much more expensive DJI Transmission is so annoying, as it is basically the same tech as the SDR but in a much bigger body. To me, both of them unfortunately don't feel completely developed to the end. I just hope for a DJI Transmission 2 with hopefully lower latency and a direct connection to smart devices. Oh, I forgot another no-go for me: The fan on the SDR is ridiculously loud even in its ""silent"" mode and our sound guy was complaining about it in quieter indoor scenes. The Mars 4K on the other hand you can barely hear in its silent mode.

This makes me want to try the teradek 1000 dollar system which supposedly has way better latency, and isn't thaaaat much more expensive.

All wifi systems are unreliable, thats why sdr is better, you should have the reciever connected to the ipad and not use only wifi

Great review! The combination of robust features like manual channel selection and low latency mode with the flexibility of various connection options truly makes it a versatile tool. It's impressive how it performs equally well both indoors and outdoors and offers such user-friendly integration, especially with iPads. Thanks for sharing your thorough experience!

I used this on a client shoot for the first time with the receiver connected to an iPad Pro on a light stand and my clients absolutely loved it! There were people huddled around the monitor for the entire production. This set up was also fantastic for reviewing footage. If I played a clip back in my camera it played back on the iPad with a nice big bright screen and good sounding speakers. Only thing I don’t recommend is using this via wifi. The WiFi mode, at least when I tested it, seemed totally unusable.

I’ve been using the SDR as a secondary wireless system on a low budget movie. My Vaxis Storm system goes to the director monitor and my focus pulling monitor, the SDR goes from the director monitor to separate monitors for HMU, art and G&E. Pretty good overall, interference btwn the two systems has been manageable

Great review of the DJI SDR! I wonder if two or more pairs can be used in close proximity? Each sending and receiving different camera feeds.

It will be interesting, how it compares to comparable products like the Accsoon Cineview SE. It most certainly doesn't compete with DJI Transmission, but it's a very compelling product, if you just need video transmission without a lot of the controls.
@WrathChild-NZ3 ай бұрын
we were going to get FOUR of these DJI SDRs but then the Accsoon Cineview master 4k wireless came out which has wifi range up to 6ghz! So will go with that considering we need 4 or more of them with minimal interference,

Everything works fine (like with my raveneye) and much more stable. BUT: i can't control my focus motor and a good documentation does not exist. So it's just another piece of equipment, that makes no sense für me.
