The battery is inactive from the company, they do that for safety reasons during shiping, the battery is auto activating when you will connect the charger and charge it for the first time

Yes rule of thirds is for framing purposes in both video and photo mode.

And when you calibrate do as he says, and stay many feet (up/down/sideways) away from any metal. Also, when it asks to lay the Spark down on a flat surface for calibration, try to be certain that that surface is as "flat-level" as possible. That is what tells the Spark what level "is" If you have to, take a good flat board and a bubble level out into your yard or field and make certain the board is "flat" using the level. Shim the board UNDERNEATH with twigs, paper, rocks, whatever to make the surface flat. Calibrate your Spark on that, and you will enjoy more stability in flying. Remember, if you calibrate your Spark on a 5-10° pitch, your Spark will consider that "normal" and end-up drifting whilst hovering. Also, stay away from power lines (at least 30 feet) They can mess - up your compass, GPS and flight signals... causing a "fly-away"
