The propeller is a common component in our power system and it is also the most vulnerable part after a crash. Sometimes, when the crash is not too severe, only the propellers get damaged. Fortunately, we can replace the propellers ourselves.
Let me introduce the propellers to you. On the propeller blade, there is a label. It reads "R5415L-CW". The number "54" represents the length of the propeller, and "15" represents the pitch. After that, there is an "LCW" or "UCW" designation. "L" means it is a lower propeller, which is installed below the motor. "U" means it is an upper propeller. "CW" means it rotates clockwise. If it were "CCW", it would rotate counterclockwise. Once the propellers are installed, they rotate in a clockwise direction.
When replacing propellers, the principle is to remove a pair from the aircraft and find a corresponding pair to install. It's always best to replace them one pair at a time to avoid any mistakes. Don't remove all eight pairs of propellers from the aircraft at once, as it will be more troublesome.
Now let's look at the differences between these propellers. There are three types, and you can see their materials. One type has a slightly smooth surface, while the other two types are similar. To determine if they are original propellers, the main thing to look for is the "DJI" logo. If it has this logo, it is an original propeller. Additionally, if there is an orange mark on the side, it is for the T50. If there is no mark, it is for the T40. If there is no DJI logo or mark, it is a third-party propeller.
Let's also talk about the hardness of these propellers. The T40 propellers are the softest and they generally won't break even if the drone crashes or hits the ground. This is not ideal. On the other hand, the T50 propellers are harder. If they crash or collide with obstacles, they will quickly break into several pieces, reducing the impact force on the drone. I once hit a power line pole, and it shattered the propeller. After that, the drone made an emergency landing without causing significant damage. Now, the aftermarket propellers we sell have a hardness level between the T40 and T50, and they can be used for both models.
