My only concern with it is the weight really. It looks super performant but right now, at 130g my naked SWIT Flow6500 is just killing it even though it's like 3 times more expensive as a setup, I like saving these 200g but this looks really dope though!

Hi bro, is it possible to trigger the Komodo from the dji bright screen with the proper 9pin cable connected from the komodo to the vtx? if I trigger from komodo i see the bright screen sending signal and recording fine both ways but the other way around havnt been able to get it working.

The DNA of professional-level products like this is why DJI's digital FPV system is superior to the Walksnail/Fatshark Avatar HD system. Honestly, I can't imagine that *anyone* would trust WS/FS to install it on a quad being used for Hollywood-level movie projects, and the DJI digital FPV system is now significantly less expensive since they permanently marked down the price of the v2 goggles. Really excited to see what the DJI Goggles 2 and the O3 Air Unit bring to the FPV market soon!

The industry will use what the pilots choose. If DJI wants to stay relevant, they need to make sure their products stay competitive. If all the best FPV pilots are being brought up on FS/WS systems because they're more affordable, full-features (e.g. canvas support which the community has been asking for for years), etc then when the big hollywood producer hires the FPV pilot, they're going to go with the equipment they're familiar with and trust - not the "unknown" that's lacking features they use daily. DJI has amazing stuff - the Ronin is absolutely incredible - but ultimately the VTX used by pilots is going to be down to what the pilots want, not what the directors want - it's not like they're using the footage from the VTX for production anyways.

@@peter.dolkens As I said, I expect the DJI Goggles 2 and O3 Air Unit to become available within the next weeks or months, and I presume they will only provide significant improvements over the existing DJI digital FPV system. And based on Mads Tech's detailed look at the RF characteristics of the Avatar HD system, it certainly doesn't look like that system was designed for environments with other active RF transmitters and receivers.

@@TheDiegoAranda I'd recommend not basing your purchasing decisions on firmware that's being updated more than once a fortnight right now. Two weeks ago the system had horrible quality and frequent blackouts, and since then we've seen numerous reviewers announce that the major issues appear to be resolved. RF blasting is just another firmware update away. The fact these updates are coming so hard and fast is EXACTLY why pilots may very well end up choosing them: active development and longevity of their purchase, as opposed to DJI which had historically practiced very aggressive planned obsolescence. Don't get me wrong, DJI makes some great stuff, I already fly DJI air units and don't plan to switch any time soon, but if I was buying into the hobby fresh today, I might consider my options, and if/when air units that are compatible with my goggles become impossible to buy, I'll DEFINITELY be considering all the options on the market. To be honest, if FS/WS hadn't released the avatar, I wouldn't have been surprised if the O3 dropped support for the current gen goggles. The competition made DJI respond both in price, and quite likely in compatibility. Here's hoping they can get a response in featureset too.

@@peter.dolkens Sorry, I don't think that the frequent firmware updates getting the Fat Shark/Walksnail Avatar HD system from barely even flyable at launch to still not even as good as the current state of the original DJI digital FPV system that launched over two years ago is anything to boast about. Walksnail and Fatshark hyped it via Josh Bardwell's preview of the system at Rotor Riot Rampage, and then every single FPV retailer was pushing pre-orders on the front page of their websites. Instead of holding off on their launch until it was *ready*, they released it to consumers in an alpha state - all in *utter desperation* to hit the market before the next iteration of the DJI FPV system. Please don't even pretend that shipping with utterly useless goggle antennas, the potential to brick the goggles during the firmware update process, abysmal video quality and heavy compression artifacts, loss of video signal, and instantly killing anyone else flying in the vicinity when you power on the goggles are an acceptable launch state just because this is a "hobby". Purchasers have every right to expect a fully functional and nearly plug-and-play digital system in the year 2022. If you want to see the advancements DJI has made in their technology since the release of the digital FPV system, just look at the DJI FPV drone - even at "only" 810p it utterly wipes the floor of the Avatar HD system at "1080p". And tomorrow's launch of the Avata drone and the DJI Goggles 2 should show us the kind of in-goggle 1080p video quality we can expect from the O3 Air Unit when it launches. I expect it to be *significantly* better than the WS/FS system, and I fully expect that the goggle antennas will be excellent out of the box, and I don't think firmware updates will brick it. The truth here is that Walksnail and Fat Shark aren't even playing in the same league as DJI. I still can't even comprehend why anyone would choose to purchase the Avatar HD system when the OG DJI digital FPV system is not only better, but also significantly less expensive.

There's also weight to consider, and again, a willingness to actually take consumer feedback onboard and introduce the features they've been asking for. Did the product launch in a polished state? No. Could they have done better? Sure. Could they still do better? Absolutely. Like I said, I'm not writing a new player off simply for having the audacity to actually try and compete in the space. You claim they're not even in the same league, and yet DJI clearly thought they were, or they wouldn't have dropped the price of their goggles in response to try and muscle them out of the market. DJI's already feeling the pressure. No amount of fanboyism is going to change that. DJI make great products, but they don't give a damn about the hobbyist. FS/WS rushed things, but I believe they're at least trying to deliver what the pilots want, as opposed to DJI who are trying to deliver what governments want in the most attractive consumer bundle possible. At the end of the day, competition is a good thing, and hoping for a new rival to fail is just shooting yourself in the foot.

This is great! Can't wait to get it! Question though - you said camera transmission is your biggest problem and DJI transmission goes forever. What is your set up? We have DJI remote with stock antennas, True RC patch antennas, into the air unit on the drone and the signal falls off sometimes pretty quick. Please help haha thanks!

True RC stubby on goggles (unless I need to penetrate or go far than x-air) and true Rc singularity on the drone. I also take the time to test channels and look for best signal

I love your excitement about this!!! I looked at purchasing it for my Cinelifter setup when it came out, but I was worried about the extra weight and possible interference with the dji system. Have you had any issues with them fighting each other, or are you just making sure they are running at two different gigahertz before takeoff. Also no one was talking about it for drone use, not even dji…. Also, how are you getting some of that range in your goggle feed? Especially in those city shots?

The weight is mostly negligible on cinelifters IMO. As for interference, I haven’t had a problem so long as the vtx powers on AFTER the FPV system is on. This way it recognizes the RF environment and selects a channel appropriately.

The latency is def not good enough to fly with, but certainly enough for say a focus puller to do their job. Me flying out of it was only an emergency scenario

Let me say upfront: This video is super interesting and I appreciate it. Like all your BTS production stuff. These are the best KZbin videos you can find on the matter, and you are a gentleman and a scholar and one of the best pilots. But what I see in these videos is also this: Filmproduction is the ultimate Brofest. Why are there almost no women, why are all the men acting and looking like frat boys. The industry is ridiculous in that regard. Just my humble opinion, not only based on your videos but also on living in a big TV and film production city in Germany and knowing a guy or two. Dude i been wanting for dji to create a rx and tx device that can be small enough to put on mavic or in the middle place where you think you will loose signal it would be able to take the signal of the quad when you are about to lose it and send it back to the goggles, there are some devices like that for analog but nothing for dji bummer
