Sri Lankan nation anthem many believe that composed by Rabindranath Thakur. It's debatable still. But the fact Ananda Samarakoon, the composure of Sri Lankan national anthem was a student of Vishwa Bharati University and had great influence of Rabindranath on his work.

We srilankans have ancestors come from 2500 years ago maily from (vanga desha - now bengali , lata rata - probably now lahore ) Emperor ashoka and king devanampiyatissa srilanka was mango freinds, they had very strong relationship and exchanged many things between two countries that time. Once emperor send us Ganga jala and other mangala vastus for king thewanampiya tissas coronation ceremony .buddhism is the greatest gift we recieved from emperor asoka. Brothers, few words from national anthem of Sri Lanka matha are in Marathi a language from India also. Is any one know in deep about connection between some Indian languages including Sanskrit and Sinhala? I am marathi from India, but also I understood nearly 60% of National anthem of Sri Lanka very easily without subtitles.
