One thing that helps me is to put some wax on the needle first so the hair body slides off easier.

Seems like most mayfly wings lean backwards like this tie as opposed to trying to stand up the wing on a comparadun. Maybe they should all be tied this way? Definitely useful for many mayfly duns.

You should put cross-over turn of thread under the bunch of hair. Cross/over thread won’t show that way .
