Which Mac Book is this controller compatible with as I have an older Mac book I use with my current controller the NS7(1)

What year is your Macbook? It really depends on what Mac OS your macbook is on. Check the current version of Serato DJ to see which Mac OS is required.

Great review! Having started out on turntables, the Rane One is appealing. However, I'm might miss the onboard effect and four channels of my Pioneer DDJ-1000SRT. How would compare the Rane One to the DDJ-1000SRT? Also, how does the Magfour crossfader compare to the Magvel crossfader?

Depending on how much you use the on-board effects, you might miss them. I'd try playing around with the Serato DJ Pro software effects and see if you are okay with just using those. As far as the crossfader comparison, it really comes down to preference. In my opinon the Magvel feels a bit lighter but the Magfour has a weight (not that it isn't smooth) to it that some DJs really prefer.

Why does it seem that the numark ns7 or 2 or 3 didn’t get this much hype?

I think its because of two things, the brand name and the size. Rane is seen as a higher-end brand (even though they are owned by the same company) and the NS7 series of controllers are A LOT bigger than the Rane One.

You can map the sampler volume to one of the controls in the front

I personally wouldn't say any of your cons are actual cons seeing who this is marketed for..... 1. Weight.....seeing how this is obviously for guys who use turntables or want that turntable feel the Rane One is only the weight of pretty much one traditional turntable which of course is way better than carrying around 2 turntables and a 2 channel mixer in flight cases or even worse a coffin. Also really ask yourself would you really want a controller from Rane with motorized platters that didn't have a little weight to it? It weighs that much because of the great build quality which of course is a plus!!! 2. Size of the platters......let's be honest who really want a controller with 12in platters that would make it huge and then even heavier which would make your first con of weight an even bigger issue. Any DJ that truly wants 12in platters and doesn't want to adjust to the smaller platters on the One (which really shouldn't be an issue because they're slightly bigger than 45s) will just get traditional turntables or the 12s.... 3. Only 2 channels.......most turntable guys including myself are used to only having 2 channels and then a aux input so the One feels like a normal setup really... 4. No hardware effects......now this one i was actually kinda disappointed in myself until I realized that every other Serato DJ controller with the exception of the 1000 SRT to my knowledge doesn't have hardware effects and only use the SDJ software effects so it's like every other controller in that regard. 5. Only works with Serato......is this really a con lol you can bet it's going to work eventually with VDJ at the least and then Traktor hasn't been making any moves lately and if Pioneers sees fit they will make their own version of this themselves for Rekordbox......this is a controller and from experience controllers work best with whatever software they was intended for thus why they are called "controllers" I think the problem is most people are comparing this to other controllers when really I think this is in a category of it's own right now. Even with the design you can tell this is obviously for guys who are used to 2 turntables and mixer but they never had a more portable professional piece of equipment that had that same feel until now.......I don't want to mention the NS7 lineup because those are outdated now and the Rane One is better than the NS7s in almost every way.....I' m super excited for this controller and definitely will be copping one big-ups to Rane and In-Music!!!

You make some great points! That's why my big take away that this isn't a controller for EVERYONE but still great for those that are looking for something specific like this. If you try to think of the perspective of someone just wanting to get into DJing the points I made as cons are certain things that they would want to consider, especially if they have no previous point of reference gear wise.

mag 4 is trash...INNOFADER is the only fader with a lifetime warranty...let that sink in

I wouldn't say the Mag 4, or any Rane fader is trash. I've actually had an Innofader Pro 2 fail on me after 2 years, and never had an issue with my Rane 72 fader since it's initial release. These parts all eventually need care or replacement if they are used aggressively!
