haven't watched the video yet but here's a tip for everyone: when you make a melody try to make it such that the first note and the last note of your melody are different, it always ends up being a good melody

you're not alone if you don't have a clue about music theory. i'm an expert at it myself and yes there is no standard way of how it's taught or propogated and I think this is what throws most of people off. nevertheless i think this video is largely helpful to beginners who are stuggling. Thanks man ❤❤

what you mean in 5:25 is the "Seventh" note of a chord. It usually is on top. But a lot of producers put the middle note like "3 for minor, 4 for major" one octave up- a reverse chord kinda. So the seventh note goes into the middle which u describe as "heart". Every minor chord is 1 3 7, major is 1 4 7. cheers!

When those melodies & chords was being made, my brain had created the drop from it right away. Nothing beats the motivation. I'm glad I watched this video.

Hi Severman, I´m a beginner and I started / tried to make a progressive house track of a song called "Rise Above The Night" by Falco Luneau which I thought could really fit good to a progressive house music, BUT I stuck and don´t know how I should go on. Do you think you could help out here and show you would progress and approach to the project? Finding the right chord progression, melodies, arrangement etc. Think it could help a lot of people too. Really appreciate your talent! Thank you!

What about making melodies but you have a vocal, do you get inspiration from the vocal itself or from the chords?
@djseverman6 ай бұрын
Can be from both. When I have vocals I usually make the chords based off the vocals and then I see what works well for the melo with both the chords and vocals
