Nicely done! So many bangers. And a perfect response to the criticism from the last prom as well. Some schools have restrictions on the music that are so strict, it's often to the detriment of the event and the perceived performance of the DJ, who then gets blamed. This event shows you guys know what you're doing when given the creative freedom and budget.

Wow 12 subs! Yeah that place must’ve been shaking! I finally did my first 3 proms since back in the 80’s when I dj’ed for my school. Now back into djing 2 years and I’m working weddings and all types of parties, looking forward to step up my light game and creating great memories! Thanks for the video Rick!!!

4 hours is my average prom length up here in ny but we usually have dinner as well. Will say song selection was much better in this prom but as you said the other school was more restrictive. But watch out you dropped a dirty hollaback it sounded like. This school seems like fun I love the bigger ones, reminds me of the 900 kid prom I did last year (on my channel shameless plug lol)

Yeah no 4 hours straight music dancing. So 45 minutes open doors. Save king and queens for last 30 (11:30) minutes then everyone leaves almost instantly and by 12 we have 20 people left. Lol

It's wild people telling you what you should've played based on only seeing glimpses of the crowd reacting through the night. I would never do such a thing. But I will comment on the 12x subs. 🤣🤣 Really need to just use some folded horns at that point. Because 3x subs plus 2 folded would've been louder and the bass travels on the fh

A ton. Every 2 subs was one circuit. We were original going to do a 3 phase distro box but apparently that got fried a month back. So we did two smaller distros on the 2x 50 amp 220 plugs they had. Which is 6 circuits per side of 120.

Yo Rick, why you using 12 subs? I mean after all, you’re not getting that much more bass than 8 subs. Not even a 3db increase. Why go through the hassle to move and install more subs if the output isn’t going to improve all that much
@Shinigamitokyo
@Shinigamitokyo 3 ай бұрын
As he said in the video. It wasn't his plan to use 12 subs. But he was sent 12 subs. At this point. Why not use 12 if you already have them?
@OmegaDerrick
@OmegaDerrick 3 ай бұрын
Yeah esp if you as a system engineer are tuning the system to a target curve. Doesnt matter how many subs you put, if your tops arent on par, you’ll end up turning down your subs when you are tuning to your target curve.

Output will not increase much but the low end will, at this gig subs go down to 30hz nearly flat. In loundness it actually is something around 3db. When you double the amount of the subs you get 6db spl more (3 from doubling the power and 3 from directivity). He explained why he used 12 subs in 9:44

Even if you were to get approval, why would you be comfortable using oil based haze in a room like that over water? No offence, but I find that pretty unprofessional.
@DJRickWeb
@DJRickWeb 2 ай бұрын
Oil is more effective with less output and requited way less power draw.
@djLovelyTime
@djLovelyTime 2 ай бұрын
@DJRickWeb I know what it is capable of compared to water. I'm highlighting that you're making a business decision based purely on minimal cost savings, rather than considering that the surfaces in your clients' premises will be worse off than using water. I also very much doubt you would be open and transparent about it as well.

I’ve been using an oil based American DJ Haze Generator for 20 years. There are way more advantages to oil based haze and it leaves NO residue ever! It is compressed and distributed in a much more even and consistent manner than heater based machines. In fact, it’s so much superior that most people don’t even know it’s in the air until the house lights come on at the end of the night. I’d encourage you to go find someone who uses one and check it out for yourself. I’m almost certain you will become an instant fan. 🎉
