DJS-1000 Tutorial - Making Beats

As someone who produces in the studio and coming from machines like the Roland MV8800 and the Akai MPC LIVE, the DJS-1000 is pure innovation. I really didn't expect this to be much but after a few sessions with it, I was blown away by the workflow and how fast it is. Though it is designed for the DJ, it makes creating in the studio a God send, because of its realtime processesor, everything is done on the fly. Pioneer definitely got something special here.

I wish they made a synthesizer and a drum machine out of this form factor to go along with a sampler. It would be a full modern setup that would look great.

How many banks does it have or you just get 16 sound sples to create your music? Most drum machine samplers have 8 A - H.

i am about to buy a DJS-1000 but i am not sure if i can connect to DDJ-1000 rekordbox version . it would be great if someone help me with that . thanks

Can you create music like a regular groovebox I noticed it's only goes to 4 bars...can I set it to like 16 bars and play a nice sustain string sound and actually create a song without using this as a DJ device?... Another word create a bass sound,,, then maybe a string sound,, then have a drum kit,,, then go from pattern one to pattern two.... Similar like a regular group box or is it specifically use for DJ purpose only?

Hi Rhampton, If you would like to use DJS-1000 for music creation, we would recommend you use TSP-16 instead. www.pioneerdj.com/en-us/product/production/toraiz-sp-16/black/overview/ However, you can handle only up to 4 bars with the TSP-16. This means that you may not be able to use16 bars for playing a nice sustain string sound.

I’m torn, I was going to purchase a Push 2 to add live samples and loops to my sets. This seems interesting because intuitive, quantize with your Pioneer kit is nice. However it seems expensive and limiting. iAny advice?

Hi there! No problem, that's why I'm here, to clear all your doubts 😉 This unit has been created to be placed at the DJ booth easily. You have probably seen with other products that the operation is not intuitive, complicated, too many parameters/settings, the fact that the laptop is required, difficult to SYNC with CDJ/VINYL, etc. We wanted to address all these concerns with this unit. C Sanchez IMO a Push 2 is necessary for any studio but what this is just a super expensive wanna be NI Maschine mk2. At best. The Maschine is better and cheaper buddy.

Well, I have a Push 2 and I love it, but it would be pretty cool to have something that was natively integrated with my Mixer and CDJs.

"cool" doesn't mean "operative", "innovative" or "smart". If you don't believe me, u deserve to be a Pioneer User :)

While this isn't terribly innovative, how can you say that it isn't operative or smart? Pioneer is the industry standard for clubs. Anything that natively integrates with industry standard gear is a good thing. While it's cool that both NI and Serato provide native integration with Push, if I can save myself the effort of lugging around my Push and simply show up to a gig with a USB stick or a laptop, and still have all of the performance options that I want, it's a win for me.

Yes we do - a computer or laptop is not necessary with the DJS-1000

It looks complicated with lack of friendly user interface. I rather use any other drum machine that is easier, and less expensive.
