Is This The Best Steak In London?

Is this the best steak in London? or are there better places to eat? This is The Wolseley City at London Bridge. Reviewing quality food is a passion of mine, and when it involves visiting places like this, it's the best. The steak was so tender and tasteful - although unsure of skinny cut chips. What do you think, the best steak?

Well DJ i think that whole experience and it IS an experience in a place like that looked brill! Beautiful building inside and out. And the steak looked really top notch to me, beautifully rare, plenty of fries! You had me at the silverware to be honest and that’s what this is all about. Yes the food but it’s the whole experience. People pay nearly a fiver for a coffee without a thought over and over! So I honestly think that £29 for everything here is pretty damn good actually. Quality remember? Love these establishments you’re showing us because they’re a treat and not something you would do often! Great DJ 🥩🍟🧈🥖🍽️

@@annhann8605 yes it probably was more medium rare … and yes, I too love an onion ring and mushrooms with a steak but I think in this establishment less was more so to speak, it was simply steak and fries and superbly done!

Best steak in London? I don't know because I've never been there. However, I was lucky enough to go to Smith and Wollensky just off The Strand in the Adelphi Building. It was an anniversary treat for my wife and I. I had their signature USDA prime, dry aged bone-in ribeye (600gm) and oh my God! At £80 (without sides!) I was expecting greatness but it was beyond even that. It litteraly ruined me regarding steak for months afterwards because nothing I had could compare to it. My wife has sadly passed away just last April but I'm going to make an annual trip to Smith and Wollensky each November to have another steak and raise a glass to her memory. P.S. regarding your face. It's fine. Just don't get so close to the camera. For the viewer, it's a bit like you're leaning in for a kiss. 😂 Loving the channel so far and looking forward to seeing it grow. 👍🤜💥

I go out for a steak dinner, I'm not ordering Steak Frites. I can do that at home, especially at £29.00 + tax, service and or table charges. Good video, fair audit. Chip butty was a nice touch.

Good Evening DJ. From what i could see of this Excellent Good quality Steak and a rather Lovely and ample portion of Fries. Yes, it looked very Appetising and i could tell from your facial expression, how Delicious this plate of Gorgeous and Substantial food was. The Wolseley City at London Bridge, an Incredible place to bring either your Friends or Family for get together. Like you were saying DJ, not a place to come and visit on your own if you are hungry. You are paying for the Quality, Ambience, Atmosphere and your Excellent Surroundings. I would say that £ 29.00 pounds is very Good, Not the Service and Table Charge?? . I would give a Gratuity if i have had Good and Excellent Customer Service, that is my choice, it is my money i would be paying for my meal and drink for. You are very Important, You are the Customer that should be looked after and not made fun of. Thank you DJ for a Great video of this Beautiful Establishment.

A wonderful place, the ambience and the environment on another level. I personally would have had the Gnocchi as I am a Vegetarian, but that does not deter from the quality of what was on the plate. And quality was in abundance. 😊

What a fabulous place, I’ve walked past it but never been in. I know some people rave about their breakfast. The steak looked delicious albeit a little on the small side. Loved you doing a chip butty, hope it wasn’t unsalted butter as would not be the same. Did you not have any bread left to mop up that bit of juice that was left on the plate 😊 What a treat and considering where it is I don’t think the price was extortionate. Really enjoyed this one and am loving the new channel 👍🏻

Hi Darren, I would agree with you about the thin fries, chunky chips are definitely the best option with steak. Also a comment on the background music, I noticed this a couple of years ago, not only the volume in some places but the taste of music, so I enquired in a more low key eatery and was politely told the music and volume is more for the staff and not the customer which surprised me a little. The higher you go, the more the music is tailored for the customer. Who knows! Lovely steak, btw.

Ok.. Hi John if I wanted to eat in a huge Train 🚂 station I would go for a sandwich 😊. RIP OFF ..ok the steak ( whilst wearing glasses 🕶️) Looked cool whilst showing of😮 it's prowess against the Fry's and the (yes I've been to France) bread sticks and butter from Antarctica ( chip butty was great) . Men serving dressed like penguins and a piano with distent memories of a player. And next door to an underground serviced by an overground pop in overpriced servisd. Good evening Darren, not a bad 2nd choice for a meal. I love the stark,crisp lines in black and white. Timeless quality and elegance. You should be able to have quality and quantity if you are paying for a meal. Thought the steak, was a tadge on the small side.However a fair portion of fries ( personal choice, fries for burgers. Proper old-fashioned Chips with steak.The plate was a little bare. Some garnish may not have gone amiss. Now a question on etiquette. The chip butty. Any time,any place,any where is acceptable, making it with a bread stick😢 just loses a touch of class 😂ha ha. Nice easy laid back video. My thoughts exactly! You don't serve a wonderful steak with chips/fries! This is like two different worlds colliding. Street food with a michelin star restaurant. The potato should be elevated as you suggested!

The place looks inviting and to meet up with friends/family👍 👍 As I’ve got older (nearly 60) I cannot eat large portion sizes I ate in my younger days so this steak size would be great for me. Gorgeous place. Nice with the tablecloths and silverware. Why didn’t you get a side plate for your bread? The steak is how I’d have it too, medium but nicely cooked on the outside too. I prefer chunky chips with mine. Why not have a chip butty, no ones looking 🤫

Faaron Steakhouse in Faro, Portugal is, hands down, the most delicious, thick steaks me and my family have ever had. I’ve been there about seven or eight times and the fillet steak, or indeed the sirloin, is unbelievably good and relatively inexpensive (only around £23 each - 28 Euros). If you ever get the chance to go there, try it - we went three times in November last year! Jesus, that was tiny!

i quite like skinny fries with a steak. That steak looked excellent but sooo small. Didnt know there was a Wolsely at Monument. Dont think its making my bucket list but a great insight there DG. As for £36 for a small steak and chips - well it was tasty and the service and ambience sound great so as you might say "I'll take that".

I thought it was a very plain looking plate of food and a small steak for the money. I also prefer fat chips because skinny fries go cold immediately. A bit of garnish on the plate might have lifted the appearance. Not for me. Loving everything you are doing - as always. x

I went in there just a few days ago and although it's a delicious steak(cooked to medium like your good self) it doesn't compare to the steaks served at Hawksmoor.. now those are some wonderful steaks.. and as for the skinny fries... I would rather have triple cooked chips thank you very much. I rate it 8 out of 10.

Wow , that Art Deco is awesome. Personally prefer my steak medium to well done , I like all meat cooked through but don't judge others on their preference as it's on their plate and they're paying for it. Real chips rather than fries and some greens on the plate as I'm an omnivore and like a balanced diet. Value for money , absolutely....count me in 👍

Lovely spot to visit but I’m afraid I’m a quantity and quality girl. It was lacking maybe some onion rings etc or better still a bigger steak was needed. I get that everyone adds service charge now but table charge as well - was that for bread and water? Sorry but I can’t justify a visit there.

Flat Iron can be very tasty, but its really a cheap cut. The chips look very much like the quick frozen type cooked in my AirFryer. Something missing ? well wheres the dinner for the money. My first thought, pretentious.Try Flat Iron Waterloo, and see the difference.41-45 The Cut, London SE1 8LF.

Flat iron steak is basically chuck steak sliced so it's one of the cheapest cuts Darren 🙈, stick to little hidden gems of London and get quality without paying ridiculous prices for shite bruv 👍♥️
