They had like 80 copies of the game and I was unsure why it was so cheap but I was 12 and wanted to play it I thought it looked so cool. I knew my parents wouldn’t say no to a 2.99 game. I played this game for weeks. To this day it was the cheapest best game I ever played. Oh I also got a little ceasers Bigfoot delivered that night and was up til about 9am with my friend Kelly.

I found the title misleading. The second game was news to me but the herc game has nothing that says to me it's part of the same franchise. I can see why one might include it in a set of games but that would be the [insert game developer names] Trilogy *featuring* Zombies Ate My Neighbours. I enjoyed your history of Streets Of Rage and Golden Axe videos and I love the game Zombies, but the content compared to the title for this video is disappointing.

Ehh, I felt like the X-Box 360/PS3 Monster Madness game to be a closer sequel (well, spiritual successor) to ZAMN, myself as it hit on more of the hallmarks that made ZAMN so memorable; ecclectic B-Movie enemies, wacky weapons, bizarre bosses, and a demented sense of humor with quite a few pop-culture references tossed in for flavor (Zack and Andy's Red vs Blue references when getting tanks later in the game were my personal favorites) and the very similar gameplay style just felt more ZAMN than Herc's Adventure.

I didn't know about Herc's Adventures however, and I used to own the original Hercules game on the PC. OMFG, Mortimer and the Riddles of the Medallion, I used to own and play that on the PC back in the day. It wasn't until you mentioned it that my mouth just fell open as I'd forgotten all about it for all these years and just checking out some gameplay of it, I remember doing that, was such a fun game so thank you for reminding me of that. That opening made me a bit sad. It made me realize that the once epic Star Wars Trilogy has been reduced to "just a set of old sci-fi movies" for those who didn't watch the original unaltered versions. Before the prequels stained them, those three really *were* something special.
@VicodinElmo8 жыл бұрын
jack squatt I don't mind the prequels. They're not perfect but they hold a certain place in my heart. Star Wars Episode I was the first Star Wars film I saw in the cinema. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was the first ever film I saw in the cinema. I loved it. The whole experience. I didn't care that Jar-Jar was an embarrassment to the saga. I didn't care that the script was dire. I didn't care that midichlorians ruined the mysticism of The Force. As a 25-year old man, I care more about those things from an objective viewpoint. That said, the nostalgia I feel for the prequels - particularly Episode I - makes it difficult for me to hate them. The problem was that most people saw the original trilogy first. Watching them in chronological order shows you how the galaxy morphs from this fun place of adventure with a functional (if bureaucratic) government and at the centre of it is this innocent kid. And we get to watch all that gradually get deconstructed over three films. By the time we start A New Hope, we know quite how much these characters have all lost. People forget the original trilogy wasn't perfect. Personally, I rank RotS, TFA and RO higher than it. I know everybody's personal Star Wars rankings are always going to be furiously smacked down by fellow fans but that's part and parcel of being a Star Wars fan. No one can really agree on anything...perhaps with the exception of AotC being generally perceived as the weakest. Most people I know do rank that at or very near the bottom. The funny thing about RotJ (which everyone sees as better than the prequels by default without really thinking about it) is that people forget how controversial the Ewoks were due to the way they contrasted with the tone of the rest of the trilogy - they probably wouldn't have been out of place in the prequels. We ignore that inclusion though because we've convinced ourselves that the original trilogy will always be superior just because it's the original trilogy. Then again, not objectively looking at sequels/prequels and relying on sentiment to enforce our opinions is hardly a phenomenon unique to Star Wars - it happens with gaming all the damn time.
@jacksquatt60828 жыл бұрын
Lucas Williams This is what I was referring to in my initial comment: the idea that the prequels were equal or better than the originals, and the thinking that the originals were not actually freakin' amazing when taken by themselves. I'm not saying the original trilogy was perfect, but I *am* saying it had very few problems, the Ewoks probably being the biggest of them. Still, those problems were *nowhere* near as bad or as numerous as the ones in the prequels. I don't feel like getting into an argument about it though, and there are no doubt many places on the internet you could look to find better constructed monologues than I could make here. The guys at Red Letter Media come to mind, with their Mr Plinkett reviews, but if you're a Star Wars fan, you've probably already seen those. Another video you probably have not seen (because he usually doesn't make this kind of content) is the Amazing Atheist "Why the Star Wars Prequels suck". I found that quite interesting, because he managed to pinpoint a single problem with the prequels, from which most of the other major problems spiral outward from. I would recommend that video to any Star Wars fan, and to writers in general. However, while I see the prequels as inferior movies, there were some things I *did* enjoy. A lot of people said they didn't like the political/economic conspiracy stuff that cropped up in the second and third prequels, but I really enjoyed it. I also liked that we got to see these fantastic other planets at the height of the senatorial power. We got to see the Jedi order before it was eradicated, and that was pretty cool too. In general, it was fun to just revisit that universe, the look and the feel of it all, aside from the CGI characters.

Star wars films in order of greatness: Rogue squadron--Superb, great effects, fast paced and good acting Return of the jedi-- Good apart from stupid teddybears 1977 original--Good apart from the added cgi in the re-releases Disney reboot#1--Ok i guess, cant really remember much about it, which isnt good Empire strikes back--Pretty meh with boring yoda bits, AT-AT`s are cool though Disney reboot#2--Forgettable film with nice special effects, much worse than first reboot Holiday special--So bad its good, at least its entertaining in its weird awfulness The 90`s prequels --Fucking awful, full of boring dialogue and dreadful acting. The 3 films blend into 1 tedious ordeal. Good special effects though.

It was one thing when you say it's a trilogy, one game being developed as something elsr then getting an asset transfer, then you say Herc's Adventure is kind of a third game cause it's somewhat similar and shares most of the development team...You hadn't crossed the line until you said Herc's Adventure is a better game, with better gameplay AND a better soundtrack. Herc's Adventure was a great game that was derailed entirely by timing. It had the works: satisfying gameplay; appealing graphics; three different playable characters, with different playing styles; kickass character and enemy designs; kitschy tunes; a large, open world map; a decent challenge and a funny storyline. What doomed this title is it came out right around the same time as Disney's Hercules. The massive marketing campaign for that movie, complete with a licensed game release, totally overshadowed Herc's Adventure. I saw a kid hold up a copy of Herc's Adventure, for the PSX, and declare "that's not Hercules", before putting it back down. His loss was my gain, because I snatched it up right behind him.

don't forget the spiritual successor, monster madness for the 360 and PS3. the game got a lot of shit but I think it's insanely fun and really captures the goofy take on classic monster movies the same way zombies ate my neighbors did.

I was trying to remember the name, but I can't find it. There's a game that some people said was the next entry, or spiritual successor of the series on ps2 or pc I think it was it's been awhile but I would see it at the local gamestore but never got it. I was thinking it was Grabbed by the Ghoulies but that' an Xbox game. I swear the game had both a guy and girl characters to play as and I think there was a monster truck involved. Nevermind finally found it, Monster Madness. It's considered a tribute to the series.

Howdy, I like your videos, but I can't find your interview with that nice LucasArts game lady. Could you please send me the link? Also, Medusa and the hydra were NOT gods, although I heard that Medusa was a priestess at the temple of Athena before she became a monster.

What is the name of the Nintendo DS game at 13:23?

Aw shit, this is a classic. It was one of the first games I played on my SNES when I first got into gaming as a kid. Played that to death until my SNES suffered unjustly from a basketball accident. It was pretty tough getting a feel for it at the time. I remember getting my ass kicked on multiple occasions (especially on the Football level.) Definitely brought back some fond memories. Good stuff!

+Gino Giovannina hahaha I'm glad my video helped bring back the sad memories of loosing your #Snes :( hahaha Hope you stick around and find plenty of stuff to keep yourself entertained

+Daniel “Slope's Game Room” Ibbertson Haha yeah, I plan on purchasing one sometime later. Not the biggest fan of emulators and I prefer having physical copies of titles, old or not. I'm viewing other content you've put out, some of which I had no idea existed in gaming. Then again, I grew up in the early 90's so my knowledge is limited.

+Gino Giovannina Thats cool mate, as you have probably noticed I like to do it so that about 50% of my content is stuff you know (like this) and the other is stuff you may not know (like "the sandy white story") :)

You forgot about George Sanger who did the music for zombie ate my neighbor and Maniac Mansion.

I half expected the third game to be Monster Madness, it's heavily inspired by Zombies ate my neighbours.

I most likely would run out to see a Zombies ate my Neighbors film as soon as it gets out. I am an avid collector of B-movies.

Amazing review! I didn't even know that the third game was made by the original team. Also, it takes place in my country! I might pick it up and play it sometime soon.

Is it me or does Maniac Mansion have a kickass track. But the tune in Zombies ate my Neighbors was classic material.
